Yeah, when compared to the way many overrates Sarr. Would pick Cucho over him from these moment onwards. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
Not sure most who thinks Sarr is a top player will agree, but for me Cucho is a talented young player who gives 100% for us regardless of the mess we find ourselves in and he also willing to improve his game. If you ask me about our most improved player from the first half of the season, it definitely has to be Cucho, followed by Louza and then Cathcart. They were the only players who I thought got better as the season progresses. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
I’m sure there will be enough media about at the time to give us a good indication of the fee regardless.
Think he'll go relatively late in the window for a fee in the region of £20m, the blow of which will be cushioned somewhat by Dennis going for £25m+
Lol come on, you're kidding yourself if you don't see Sarr going for at least £20m. £15m is laughable.
He’ll go for about £20m - £25m absolute max, we paid just above £30m for him, he hasn’t improved, we’ve been relegated and he only has 2 years left on his deal. It’s simple economics. There is nothing about the circumstances that warrant us getting the same or more than what we paid.
My Lord you must be joking? What on Earth are you talking about. Goal of the season plus the third against Villa are not scored by players who are not very good.
Sarr will be sold for no less than 20 million, infact 20 is way to low. There's plenty of clubs that believe they'd get the best out of him and he's far more capable than what he serves up for us. Palace or Newcastle will pay what's required if they really want him.
I think if he had someone actually breaking into the space that his ball-carrying in tight areas creates, then he'd pick the pass more often. The fact no-one does so is why he tries to do it all himself.
The biggest flaw with 3-5-2 is that the 2 outside CBs need to be quick & mobile enough to mop up any quick turn-round ball that gets played into the space behind the wing backs. Otherwise it will either lead to lots of chances for the oppo or will quickly mutate into 5-3-2, hence the lack of attacking threat.
And who's currently the most likely candidate for the wide centre-back role? Oh, it's Craig Cathcart...
Exactly. We are all guilty of it over certain player at certain times - but this thread of belief that Sarr is terrible and we won’t get anyone wanting him unless it’s for dirt cheap is really in the odd end of the scale. If he’s just chucked in this last season for a settled club with a great coach, then I’d get it - but you only have to look at out basket case circumstances and there’s your mitigating factors that buyers will look at.
And only a very small percentage of people are claiming that’s likely. But claiming we will struggle to sell even at £15m is crazy and fuelled by anger/upset/disappointment, not by actual sense.
This was posted on the Ismaila Sarr thread but a report in France today that four clubs (Newcastle, Palace, Everton and a German club - Leverkusen or Leipzig if I had to guess) are in for him already and we have an asking price of €35m which is £30m and approximately what we paid for him. I don’t think we’ll quite get that but if there are multiple clubs interested I reckon we should be able to get over £25m and £50m all in for Dennis (£22m or so to West Ham) and Sarr. The transfer market is a different ball game from the depressed market of two years ago - at least for PL and CL clubs.
The beauty of the Pozzo model, if a player's underperforming / actually not great, his value doesn't take as much as a hit because we can build the narrative that it's all the different managers he's had!
He scored the same amount of goals as Sarr and assisted the same amount as Sarr this season, despite playing 700 mins less.
Imagine we are a premier league team, and you watched how Inconsistent Sarr was this season including his lack of commitment and injury issues, will you want us to spend 15m on him? I personally will want him on loan or sign him for nothing more than 10m. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
There were times he played with King in the attacked and King got frustrated many times with him choosing to dribble than pass to a player in a better position to score. King was also guilty of it earlier in the season too though. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
Samir is off, which is a pain as left footed CBs who are semi decent are useful to have, Sierralta I'd say is more suited to the middle of a back 3
You have to remember you’re a Watford fan, there’ll always be a yellow tint on your glasses. It’s so easy to blame Watford and many clubs will. He’s had three managers alone this season, no defence, no decent striker. He’s won the AFCON, he’s rapid and he has his best years ahead of him still. Have you see the trash £15m gets you nowadays? Benrahama, Maupay, McBurnie (!!), Watkins all went for more than £15m. Sarr will command £20m minimum.
Pedro staying? We’ll see . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/20174992.joao-pedro-expected-stay-watford-summer/
Was always going to be the case. No club is paying what Gino wants. A few reports in Brazil over the past couple weeks were throwing out a sum of £52mil+ is what we wanted. If that is indeed true, and someone pays it, then I wouldn’t be upset.
Benfica now sniffing around. Man Utd continue Darwin Nunez talks; Benfica target Watford's Joao Pedro (90min.com)
Would be surprised, their transfer record is only £21m (and that was for Darwin Nunez who they're likely to sell for upwards of 70m)
A great fact provided by BHappy: Joao Pedro was born the same day that Pierre Issa was dropped off the stretcher. Presumably at the same moment.
still one of the funniest things I’ve seen at a football match! poor Issa! God he was a dreadful defender though.
One of our greatest sons! Lloyd was the most distinctly average championship player in our history, but god he gave his all every game. Duxbury can talk about club culture all he wants, but he needs no better example than the culture exhibited by players like Doyley, Mooney, Gibbs, Robbie and Helguson.
