Has the brain, has the vision, has the touch. Lack of speed will hurt him, as will the upper body & core strength if he doesn't improve that. He over dribbles sometimes too.
If you are to rate our players today, will he be in your top 6? Kuco, the best player for me. Then, Louza, Femenia, Dennis, Foster, Kamara. Kabasele and Samir were good too. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Unfortunately not this man, who while fully prepared to put himself about a bit just isn’t suited to the situation in which we find ourselves. I’m still not sure what his best position is either.
I don't know what this means, but if the point here is that Femenia who was involved in our only goal and was twice close to scoring our second goal with two corner kicks is the worst player on the field, then you might need to delete it. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
No point criticising our better players when they’re not being coached and haven’t been for the best part of 6 months. We’ve had Xisco, Ranieri and Hodgson in the space of a season and expect players to improve. Are they mental
It's a difficult situation for a player to be in at his age. The talent is undoubted but as said having managerial changes and being in then out, playing different roles can have a detrimental effect. Notwithstanding having to play much of the time without the ball, in difficult areas of the pitch and with idiots as team mates. Not to mention a lack of overall confidence from some. In a better more well managed side I have no doubt he would have bagged more goals and assists. The raw talent is clearly there. He is one of the few to emerge with credit this season. Has the fight in him still like Cucho and the skill. We'll need him and Cucho next season to have a chance of getting back up.
Yes they do throw in some strange ratings sometimes. But the top few were probably our better players today.
Am not a big fan of Kuco, would always take Etebo over him and Cleverley. But today, Kuco even after we were 1:0 up, he was still making the most tackles and was trying is utmost for us to go into the break with a 2:0 lead. He was clearly the best player for us. He is not the manager, so I can't blame him for playing 90 minutes. And Pedro over Dennis? Because he was dribbling to nowhere? Because he usually offside? Or because he was diving to win a penalty? He looks like a championship player just like Sarr. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
A Manager or DOF somewhere out there needs to see the potential in Pedro for a certain position, buy him and then develop him in that position, a bit like what happened with Gareth Bale perhaps. We have an absolutely disastrous record signing strikers since the Championship first time round essentially, so he’s had absolutely nobody of worth to learn that role from and equally we pretty much don’t have a midfield that he can learn that role from either. I don’t know what sort of coaching goes on behind the scenes at our club independent of the latest clown in charge of picking the team, but on this seasons evidence then it looks like none at all. No manager is here long enough to worry about developing players, they’re just busy from day one firefighting the reason the previous sap was fired.
Pedro has had a lot put on his very young shoulders this season and hopefully we have not ruined him as he has undoubted natural talent that needs nurturing.
He will have learned a lot this year and will either emerge a better more determined player or disappear into the mist of mid table Spanish football
We should have scored more goals in the first half against Burnley. We had no guile to get through them when they fell back. Collectively this was a team fault, but the forward players underperformed. Yesterday against Burnley it was men against Trolls. Not enough physicality to put them under pressure. How often JP was literally pushed out the way by Burnley defenders, showed to me he is no central forward. I think his finishing is poor. Can he take a dead ball or cross well? Overall I don’t think he is (currently - things change), a Premier League player. If it is a choice between JP or Cucho staying next season then I would be disappointed if it’s JP in the squad photo in July.
Great first touch, silky dribbling and capable of greatness. If Sarr had played him in on the counter instead of Dennis it would’ve been 2-0 and game over. JP doesn’t always make the right choice but he’s only young, he’s not alone in that. One of our most talented players and of the few who could still improve their weak spots. Anyone who doesn’t want him to be part of the squad doesn’t deserve any entertainment from Watford.
Based on what? His finishing has generally been poor this season. Yes Sarr should have passed to him instead, but JP has fluffed easier chances than that would have been already this season.
People too easily forget that he is still only 20 years old. Personally I hope that both JP and Cucho plus Louza and Asprilla are here next season. Watford also need to appoint a head coach who knows how to develop these young players.
Sarr doesn't really take people on either that's the point. Weirdly, he does seem to do it a little bit more when space is quite tight and the defence is back to try to create a little bit of space to get a cross in. But over the course of the last two seasons it's been baffling how many times he's had almost a whole half of the pitch to run into and all he needed to do was knock the ball way ahead and turn the afterburners on but instead either turned back or dribbled straight into the left back. Probably the most disappointing signing we've ever made in the Pozzo era.
He has a knack of finding space where none appears to exist and also of seeming to have more time on the ball than you'd expect. This season his final ball has let him down too often, but at other times he has clearly needed a teammate to read what he might do and hit a space the defenders don't expect him to be able to pass into. It looks at times as if he's reading the game ahead of most others in our squad. I think with good enough strikers he'd perform well as the '1' in a 3-4-1-2, or as the more withdrawn striker/10 in a 4-4-1-1. I could see him & Toney working very well in the latter formation. We just don't have an adequate CF here for him to play off & play in.
He's 20 years old and is performing at an above average rate against PL wingers/attacking midfielders - there's definitely some weaknesses that can be improved (mostly around finishing) but there's so much of his game to like. Again - he's only 20. He grabbed 9 goals in the Champ last season so would expect him to hit double figures in the Champ next season.
