It’s ok. Mike will run the meeting. He already thinks he’s Assistant (to the) CEO.

Spoke to a few people I sit near on Saturday and although they'd obviously heard about this committee, they knew little about it and seemed to have even less interest. They were definitely not incensed by it.

That’s because 95% of people who go to Watford on a match day couldn’t give a flying **** about the behind the scenes of the club.

Most don’t know about this forum, most don’t follow the ramblings on Twitter/Social Media, most just turn up every other week to watch the football, to watch their team play.

And to be fair, I wish I kept it that way too.

Exactly. Day outers. Couldn’t care less if we win or lose. As long as they get to see a game. Tony Gale was pointing this out on commentary during the game. Apathetic fans who don’t even care we’ve lost 10 in a row at home.

But they do care if we change our walkout song from a song from the 60s or expect the fans to turn up a little bit earlier to use contactless entry.

    Weirdos.

But usually when we lose we play badly (Chelsea this season excepted) and the atmosphere is pretty poor - you don’t lose 10 straight games at the Vic by simply being unlucky. Where’s the fun in that, whether you’re a casual fan or diehard?

It does seem odd some of the conversations I hear coming out of the game - were it not for the big crowd and them being near or just outside a stadium people overhearing them would never know they’d been to a football match.

Fair point - but just because they have a cause, does not make them more worthy of a place at the table.

Invite everyone or make everyone apply. But the handpicked parties leave a sour taste, there’s no getting away from it. It’s essentially saying you have to belong to a group or social channel to be deemed worthy and the rest of the plebs can apply and be open to vetting.

but to an naive idiot like dux that makes sense. Invite people who have a mouthpiece to others. What doesn’t make sense is to invite select people and then tell them you can’t repeat any of this. Couldn’t make it up….

Always good to remind yourself what an echo chamber places like the forum and Twitter can be.

Which isn't to say it's wrong to be annoyed about the actions of the ownership, but perhaps that a shady/dodgy/untrustworthy bloke being CEO a football club isn't the headline news/riot-worthy issue that some see it as.

A true reflection might be in the number of season ticket sold and attendances next season without the tourists and “Premier league fans” going to matches .

I certainly don’t think we will get getting 20k type crowds each week .

Or more fans should pay attention to matters off the pitch?

Not saying that’s true - but I don’t think you can say one is true without the opposite being accurate too.

Why? I think it's fair to say that your average Watford fan has more important things to worry about, and is generally satisfied as long as he/she has a club to support. And despite the state of our latest accounts, I think they can sleep safely knowing that will be the case for the foreseeable.

I don't begrudge anyone taking the level of interest they have chosen to take in the club. Whether that's those who analyse the content of every tweet (that European football tweet still irks me), or those who haven't fully learned the names of every player in the starting line up yet.

I haven’t said I begrudge anyones level of interest or support. And I agree most people have more important things going on.

But your point seemed to suggest that because more people don’t know about it, then maybe it’s not a big deal? Then I merely countered with the idea that maybe it is a big deal that more fans should be interested in or take note of.

I didn’t say either point was right or wrong.

For the average fan, WD18 or Jewish Watford Fans being invited for a chat with Scott Duxbury isn't a big deal, no. Imo. As long as it doesn't threaten the future of the club I don't think most are actually bothered, rightly or wrongly

Fair enough if you’re just talking about the committee meeting - that wasn’t clear in your initial post.

I read it as it not being a big deal (if) we have a dodgy owner, dodgy dealings or slippery CEO in general - that’s what I was making my original point against. I think perhaps more fans should be switched on about that.

Apologies, I thought it was clear from the post I quoted in my original post.

Although in a larger sense I still don't think there's a massive amount for the average fan who doesn't live and breathe Watford to worry about when it comes to our owners. As slippery and dodgy as they may be, and as many mistakes as they've made, I don't think most of what they do would be particularly noteworthy to those not glued to the forum or social media. Other than perhaps the managerial turnover, which I think your average fan is fed up with.

Richard Short runs that I think.

Given they sacked him probably no surprise they weren't invited tbh and apparently there are some rather left field comments on there at times.

    they aren’t happy..

Dear Admins esp Simone Bartha, who is being incredibly stubborn over this.

I enjoy this group a great deal. You run a platform where we can discuss, sometimes argue, but 99% of the time we respect each other. For this I thank you.

However, like many, I am extremely disappointed that you have abused your positions as admins, and contacted our club with views supposedly on behalf of 1000’s of members. You have clearly used your position as moderators to use our member numbers as leverage for your own agendas.

Correct me if I am wrong, you are admins / moderators, and not “spokespeople”. You have joined together with the admins of the other groups and issued a statement claiming to represent 17,000 of us … but you haven’t … you kept it exclusive to yourselves … exactly the same damn thing that you are accusing our owners of. The irony is off the scale in arrogance and stupidity.

Accordingly, on behalf of the all the members who you have upset (the others can applaud you), I am requesting that you reword your statement to say you represent a proportion of your members and not all of us. It would also be a good idea if you run polls to actually gage the percentage of people who agree with sending the statement. If you have already sent it, so be it … perhaps an apology to the groups would be in order, as you don’t speak for us, you moderate us and admin the group … a clear and definitive difference. Thanks again for your work, and if you need another admin, I’m chucking my name in the ring as this group, although excellent, clearly needs some balance.

    Thanks.

The FOMO is dripping from the likes of Short and the Facebook groups. Desperate to get in that room and complain about the time it takes for a 17 year old to pour a watered down pint.

Hilarious to see. Completely ruins the real alarm at this ‘supporters’ group. Maybe that was the goal after all.

totally agree. I said a while back that, watching on from afar, I wasn’t sure whether it was funnier watching those invited to the secret squirrel meeting backtracking or how those not invited were up in arms.

Pozzo cynically trying to win back the fans' affection by piissing off Richard Short. Absolute masterstroke to be fair.

The Mod team have put all of our heads together and we have decided to pay for a message from Duncan from Blue to send to the board.

    We could not afford Anthony.

Hope you don't mind but I dropped them a line earlier to give them the consensus from WFC Forums. Scott was apparently very pleased that we were fully behind the Board and I received a voucher for some cheap burgers back by email.
