New Supporters Committee

Only worn once at a promo when Blue were in their prime. Happily we were same shoe size so I snaffled them after a respective fist bump. Still wear them from time to time but now when I describe who they belong to people either shrug or look at me as if I’m a weird old grandad.

 

So the fist bump was the distraction? Did he not notice he had no shoes as he walked away from it ??

To be honest, I’m not sure how they can claim to represent 17,000 WFC fans. That’s a huge number and I’ve never heard of any of those groups outside of the Facebook one (which I’ve never even looked at!).

 

its ********….those 17,000 members as reported are the same people signed up to a number of sites so not unique. Bit like reporting we have 25,000 members on our forum although 18,000 are moog

 

I thought the same thing at the time and checked - it's an eerily similarly-named and doltish Facebook group.

 

The irony of claiming to represent all fans in a statement released without consulting all fans, complaining about the club not consulting all fans.

As my 9 year old son said to me the other day: "Daddy, why are there so many idiots in the world?".

 

I will say that I find it hard to imagine how, as the member of a Watford facebook group, you can possibly be so exercised by said Facebook group's adding their name to a denouncement of the way the Stability have gone about this abysmal Committee process, that you feel the need to complain and demand your Facebook name be taken off the denouncement, essentially. If you know about the goings-on in the first place, you'd have to be too smoothbrained to breathe to actively support it in that manner without some kind of particular vested interest.

 

As with any forum/messageboard/facebook group etc, there are so many conflicting opinions on EVERY SINGLE TOPIC that for an admin to claim to speak for all "members" is a bit rich. Especially when claiming that the club's choice of committee members was un-representative.

Richard Shout (and whoever else composed this open letter) doesn't speak for me, not that I care particularly about his post - but the lack of self awareness shown by posting it is staggering! And the club have completely ballsed this up with their selective and secretive approach, so I'm not advocating for them either.

 

With the pending relegation will these meetings even happen next season as it's a Premier League rule I believe

 

I haven't read the facebook mod rant, but if they are claiming that their members' views were not represented, rather than saying that they should have been appointed to represent them, then that's a subtle but crucial difference.

 

The same could be said of most ideas by the club over the last 4 or 5 years. People's outrage dissipates as the self-interested owner sacrifices middle men and invents dead cats to appease/ distract useful idiots.

The club is an absolute disgrace. With 'Watford FC ticket swap excluded', how will they consider John's spare ticket at face value, following a last minute trip to Malaga?

I think the PL and EFL both have similar requirements about clubs having to take part in a certain amount of fan engagement. Especially in light of the review completed recently by Tracey Crouch.

Really the key behind this isn't that Pozzo and Duxbury had their hand forced by the PL and botched the setting up of the committee in the rush, it's that they've clearly wanted to bin off fans forums for a few years now but were aware they needed some vehicle to replace them so they could still tick the fan engagement box.

I still can't get my head around why they thought now, in the middle of a record run of home defeats and the team's collapse into relegation, was the time to launch it all. Truly pisspoor strategic thinking.

 

The statement can be cheerfully ignored on the basis of lack of comprehension of use of apostrophes.

Ok, then that's a bit dumb, but IMO forgivable for a bunch of facebook moderators who are amateurs and less so for a premier league club with paid PR and Marketing teams.

I think the point should be, from the FB groups and here, that our members' views were excluded, as were all views outside the cherry picked yes men and women who were invited to rub their tongue up Dux's crack.

This does very little to dispel initial concerns.

I also like how they say the attendance of senior management or the CEO shows the ‘gravitas’ with which they take these meetings - despite Duxbury saying he will go to ONE meeting per season - and presumably the one he did the other week is him done now for 12 months.

 

Really don't understand how anyone can take issue with the club on this. For many years now the Board have focused on very little else. It has been almost constant and has been remarked upon day-in day-out on this very forum. Surely no club could do more in this respect ?

The only reason they’ve even done the 15/20 fan meeting is because the EPL instructs all clubs to communicate with fans directly. This appears to have been done begrudgingly by the club because they had to, but it’s the bare minimum to meet the Premier League requirements.

 

Nothing screams ‘get them proactively involved in a serious and confidential discussion’ more than referring to yourselves as a ‘banter group’.
