We have got the players to play on the counter attack as we have seen in the last few weeks surely we have to go that way Maybe 541 is another formation when defending 343 when going on the counter attack
No chance Fenerbahce take Tufan back. So for the second half of the season we could have Nkoulou, Rose, Tufan and Gosling picking up a nice wage while not even making the matchday squads.
They must have had reason to think Tufan was decent, but it's clear to everyone he's not what we need. I'm hoping the club have not boxed themselves into a corner with him and have to purchase if we stay up. Going by the quote from the official site, it's an option, not an obligation to buy. Ozan Tufan - Watford FC. However, trasfermarkt claim it's an obligation under certain conditions, but didn't explain what those conditions were. I'm assuming it would be appearance related and the fee would be €7.5m. The loan fee was €500k.
From Leventhal's article after Tufan signed it's a £5m obligation if we stay up or we have the option to buy if we get relegated. https://www.google.com/amp/s/theathletic.com/2839235/2021/09/22/ozan-tufan-the-turkish-paul-pogba-whose-phenomenal-footwork-will-bring-something-different-to-watfords-midfield/?amp
Not sure why anyone is worried. We are unlikely to stay up and if we did the £5m fee should be a drop in the ocean by that stage with a guaranteed second year of full prem monies. We could probably buy him for £5m and sell for £2m. Only issue might be if we are to offer over generous fees that no one will match.
I'm sure these sites are far from accurate but according to this the weekly wages are Rose 42k, Nkoulou 34k, Tufan 32k and Gosling 27k. I can't see Nkoulou being paid anywhere near that but I can see Rose being on more than 42. Sadly Tufan and Gosling probably aren't far off the true figure. https://salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-championship/watford/
All they needed to do is look at the bloke and they could see he wasn’t the right move, he wasn’t remotely ready and didn’t have the mindset for a fight. What do they think, they can solve these player’s clear issues? They never have and never will. A waist of resources.
According to that salary site Nathan Phillips is on £19,000 PW, a decent increase could be done and he would fit nicely into our salary budget, however I think a lot of the figures on there are guesses!
The squad as things stand. I'd like to see us sign a GK (Henderson on loan?), CB (Vida?) and holding midfielder (not seen any links). The two players I'd cut from the squad right now are Rose and Gosling. If we were to sign anyone else it would be 1 in, 1 out; Bachmann, Kabasele and Sema are the three I'd drop although with Nkoulou out until April it may not be worth a space to include him over any of the above.
Rose, Sema, Nkoulou & Fletcher most likely to be cut in my opinion. Kalu, new CB and hopefully Asprilla to be added to the squad. Foster, Bachmann, Elliott. Femenia, Ngakia (U21); Ekong, Cathcart, Samir, Kabasele, Sierralta, New CB; Kamara, Masina. Etebo, Louza, Cleverley, Gosling, Tufan, Sissoko, Kucka, Kayembe, Asprilla (U21). King, Pedro (U21), Sarr, Dennis, Cucho, Kalu. 25/25.
I would lose Tufan before Sema, because at least Sema gives a ****! Tufan is a TOTAL waste of space, I can honestly say I don't think I've seen a worst player in a WFC shirt and that is saying something because we have had quite a few bad ones over the years. Whereas Sema always gives 11o% and tries his hardest even if his best is not always the greatest at PL level.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Gosling go to the Championship towards the end of the window. I've always a fear that we don't sign another CB
As the bloke on Twitter said, Gosling has 18 months of high end Championship loan fee income possibility. His wages will be covered and we will be in clover.
I’d rather keep Fletcher than Gosling. He is limited but chances always fall to him when he comes on for the last 10-15 mins.
With just over 4 days to go before the close of the window and the registration of the squad is required, here's how we look. GK(3), RB(2), LB(3), CB(6), MF(8), LW(4), RW(2), FW(3) Total (31) 3 are U21, so that brings the total down to 28. The split being 10 HG and 18 NHG. So 3 must go before Tuesday and one of those has to be a NHG player. We know Rose won't be registered. So that leaves two more. On the list of NHG at risk are probably Nkoulou, Sema and Tufan. The list of HG players at risk are Fletcher and Gosling. I think all others have done enough to warrant inclusion. Any other incomings? Unlikely at this stage, however, a CB and keeper must be on the list as possible late deals. If a keeper came in, then I would have thought Bachmann would be allowed to leave, so that would balance out, although he would have to be HG for a like for like swap. I would like to see another CB coming in before considering releasing Nkoulou as well. So here's my final cut GK Foster, new keeper or Bachmann, Elliot LB Kamara, Masina RB Femenia, Ngakia CB new CB or Nkoulou, Samir, Cathcart, Kabasele, Sierralta, WTE MF Sissoko, Cleverley, Kucha, Etebo, Louza, Tufan, Kayembe LW Hernandez, Pedro, Baah RW Sarr, Kalu FW King, Dennis, Fletcher This would mean either at least one of the new keeper or CB has to be HG in this scenario. Out Rose, Gosling, Sema.....plus Bachmann and Nkoulou if replacements are signed.
Agree - although I wonder if Tufan could be on the list too (although that will be a function of our arrangement with Fenerbahce not his performances). Also worth noting that any players u21 who we sign wouldn’t have to be registered (not that there are many GKs or CBs that that I’d want to throw into our situation). I believe we can only sign one more loan deal (max of 4 per season - (3) Kucka, Etebo and Tufan) but that it can be a domestic loan (max of two per season - (1) Etebo).
Why do we have SIX Centre Backs but just two Right and Left Backs? Utter madness. Gino does business properly.
I would say 2 and 2 and 5 would be the correct number, no? Provided that some of the CBs can fill deputise at full back if required (which is the case). So not such madness to have one extra, particularly as they are all injured all the time anyway. The issue is surely one of quality not quantity.
You can only play 1 left or right back at a time but you play two centre backs. Plus we have signed two since the summer and haven't been able to get rid of any
