Ranieri must absolutely despise this squad. We also cannot buy a decision with VAR can we? Absolutely baffled as to what they are looking at.
It just isn't painful anymore. I'm resigned to going down and I'm sure the next 3 league fixtures will confirm that
Yeah, how dispiriting - we fielded several terrible players who played terribly, all at the altar of the one golden goose of a clean sheet, and then had it snatched away from us by those terrible players deep into second half stoppage time. That's a hammer blow for coach and team. Fairplay that we could see what Ranieri was trying to do, but as I said on the shoutbox, I just don't see how you can rely on that as an option when the defenders we have aren't worthy of the name. We're not going to go down on our results to teams like Spurs, but it's a lot bigger than that at this point, and did I see that's 6 defeats in a row now, or was that referring to some other nightmare stat?
We were very tight at the back all game. Then give away a stupid free kick. Then dont defend the free kick. So ******* frustrating. Free header 1 yard out. How does that happen?
Inevitable. We went all out for the clean sheet but ultimately that result relegates us. Not sure we’ll keep a clean sheet all season and, with that, we won’t get enough points to stay up. The defending for the free kick - which was a ridiculous giveaway by Kucka in the first place - was appalling. Goalkeeper glued to his line, defensive line far too deep and completely ineffective when the completely obvious ball was played in. It wasn’t going anywhere else but we missed it completely.
Maybe if we had a premier league goalkeeper and some premier league defenders, we'd get some premier league points? Giaretta's claim that spending money on your defence doesn't necessarily mean you concede less goals is looking like a perfect storm of stupidity and incompetence.
No enjoyment in following Watford at the moment. It is either a last minute collapse or a thumping. Just not good enough. Don’t know who is at fault, if anyone. One blow after another. I envy people who do not follow a team. Top class players will not come to Watford. I’m just so pissed off, I don’t think it is worth it.
Good game management until the very end. First half we denied space in behind. Second half we pushed on well and could have snatched a goal. Then a long delay which put some energy back into spurs legs, a terrible mistake by Kucka who doesn’t have legs in the 5th minute, let alone the 95th, and some of the worst set piece defending I’ve seen costs us dear. Hope the ill fan is ok.
The ending was inevitable. There was never a moment when I thought we can get something out of this. This team has killed any optimism that I once had.
I'd resign tonight if I was Ranieri. This lot will let him down again and again and again. Braindead challenge from Kucka to give away the FK undoing what was actually a decent game from him. Then an awful defensive line for the FK itself with none of them attacking the ball and just watching their men wander free. And then Bachmann - who arguably was to thank for it being 0-0 at that point - well, he just couldn't have an error free game could he? Glued to his line....AGAIN. Honourable mention for the ref who protected Spurs after Joao Pedro had shrugged off at least 2 fouls to give himself a goal-scoring chance...just for the ref to call it back. Disgraceful. Also think the officials were incorrect not looking at the Ben Davies challenge again...Louza helps him by evading it as best he can but Davies was clearly studs showing and over the ball. Endangered his opponent. Wasn't a penalty on JP though. But we could certainly do with an iffy decision or two.
Gonna try not emotionally overreact to that kick in the bollóx. Tough to take. First half was rough to watch, second half we were a little better. Feel like we restricted Spurs to very little by sitting deep, Bachmann made one good save from Son, that was about it. The offset was we didn't threaten much going forward until midway through the second half. A clean sheet and a point there would have been huge for the teams confidence and a great result, considering we had WTE and Sema starting who should be squad players at very best. Yes the ref is a c*nt for blowing up after JP's fantastic run. No, it wasn't a penalty on JP. Hard not to feel deflated after conceding late. Defending not great for the free kick which is a shame after holding out or so long. The real proof is in the bodies we hopefully get in in the next 2 weeks, then the 2 games against Newcastle and Norwich. Anything less than 4/6 points from them and it's curtains.
As Irishorn said up there, there is just no enjoyment in watching us whatsoever at the moment, and there hasn't been for a while. The game isn;'t even heart-racingly exhilarating in that annoying way, because we're not really expecting to compete, and indeed mostly not doing so either. The stakes don't feel high, they feel inevitable. We need a sea change at this point. Odds on getting one?
Imagine being that close to a clean sheet and then defending like that. Good ball for the goal but two players dropped to play Sanchez onside and then didn't even jump I don't think. All Bachmann had to do was take a step off his line and it's instantly harder for the crosser and Sanchez.
Every replay I saw Lloris gets hands to the ball first? Pedro didn’t touch the ball at all as far as I could see. The caveat being I’m watching on a stream like everyone else.
JP got the ball first, then Lloris got his hand on it. Yes it might technically be a foul but they're almost never given. I'd be furious if it was given against us.
NBC have showed 3 super slo-mo replays from different angles. Lloris clearly wins the ball. Baffled how anyone can legitimately say different.
Was expecting a 4-0 drubbing, but I'll put that down to Spurs not being great rather than us being defensively good. Inevitable goal that had been coming all game and just typical that it was a very avoidable goal. That ball should be Bachmanns 100% of the time, its a foot from the goal line when Sanchez makes contact. The defence are also at fault as no one challenged the ball. It will be a miracle if we avoid relegation... I have no idea where our next point is coming from.
Didn't see the first half so only saw the second and comments are solely based on that. I thought we looked alright in the second half. Didn't do much wrong and arguably deserved more than we got from it. The ref blowing for a foul on JP after he'd somehow wriggled clean through on goal was an utter travesty of a decision. Very poor way to concede in the final minutes. No reason to give away the FK, and the fact that no one attacked the ball or even jumped was baffling, and undid the otherwise pretty decent (by our standards) defensive work we'd done in the rest of the half.
It was clear that Kucha was struggling with 15 minutes to go, couldn’t get back. His tired tackle set up the free kick. Not sure what to say about the defending for the free kick, but as fans, it felt inevitable they would score.
I’m just totally ambivalent to it all at this stage. Didn’t even bother to check the team sheet and then just laughed when I saw Sema was playing. I laughed even harder when I saw him play. We’re going down, and it’s no more than the owners deserve.
Damning indeed. Bachmann trying punch ball by diving behind an attacker - when the ball is already in the net. Masina and WTE both ducking again. Literally all our defensive issues summed up in 1 picture.
