Solskjaer is just the Top 6 equivalent of Xisco - a man who came in to cheerlead a good squad through a period but has no real business being there and is found out tactically when the even the remotest bit of resistance is shown to them. Just wildly out of his depth and can't believe his luck that he's actually United manager.

If he's got any sense, he will walk and preserve his status with their fans.

Would you say his shortcomings as a coach are masked by having some very high quality players?

 

Solskjaer getting the job was pure nepotism, he would never have got the job based off his managerial credentials. Really hope Liverpool go for it second half, make it hurt.

 

Literally texted my brother a long-winded over-elaborate version of this midweek during their Champions League tie - the Ronaldo issue exposes it so thoroughly - he just has no idea or capability whatsoever to adapt tactically to being forced to shoehorn an old man who won't press or defend at all into the team. Watching them reminds me so much of that frustrated hopelessness where you know that nothing is going to change, because it's just not in their locker to begin with.
