Was blowing out of his arse in the second half, but generally played better than last week. Probably his kind of game against a 'nice' team with little physicality about them
Looking every bit his 34 years, but we don't really have much alternative now that Etebo is injured...
Dreadful decision to bring in this player and allow Chalobah to leave for free. Pozzo has an infantile approach to players who won’t renew contracts.
He’s a sub at moment. But couldn’t have been worse for us than Kucka today. Ageing, declining and uninterested.
I said at the time that I wouldn't mind if he were a squad option, but I wouldn't want to rely on him every week, and well, we've had to play him pretty damn regularly...
He's a major, major problem if he's starting every game. Legs have completely gone, can get away with that in pedestrian Serie A but not in the Premier League. He's obviously not a bad footballer but you'd only want him coming on for 15-20 minutes to try to close a game out, not starting every game.
Shockingly bad today. Surprised nobody else has mentioned how many times he gave the ball away. Highlighted for one of their goals, jogging slowly back and then slowing to a gentle walk. Just not enough effort.
We’ll probably find he has some chronic knee injury which is on going like Deeney a couple of seasons back .
After initial obfuscation, I think it was eventually reported he only signed on a 1 year deal. Makes it even weirder that we were so keen to offload Hughes and Chalobah due to only having 1 year remaining.
Maybe for Norwich and not us then, but I doubt they’ll be that desperate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Said it in the Shoutbox, looks like the legs have gone. Can't believe I'm going to say this but Sema would have been a better option down the left than Masina.
Misplaced passes, constantly caught in possession, that's Kucka - and people on here have been saying Hughes wasn't that good?
When he first signed I said: "Bonkers. Why didn't we just stump up another £2mil to get Yokuslu already, who is probably at least as good, plus still has years in the tank and resale value? Which 34 year-old CMs are still tearing it up in the PL? We had to move Behrami on at 32. He seems to have had an alright season last year, but just can't imagine he'll still have the legs for this league." Quelle surprise. https://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/juraj-kucka.58586/page-4#post-3030580
Apart from the Villa games he's been nothing but a liability. Yes Yokuslu or Thorsby should of come in. But for some reason we've wasted most of our budget on a player we've hardly seen and a 34 year old who has less legs than Gosling and Cleverly. Sissoko is being left high and dry in the middle and this is making our comical centre backs look even worse.
The weird thing is he was excellent against Villa, so surely he’s capable of reaching the same level again? It’s not like a striker getting a few flukey goals, he was all over the place which isn’t something you can fluke or fake as a midfielder. On the other hand maybe it was that Villa were that undercooked he looked a lot better than any other team will allow him to look. If it’s the latter we’re bang in trouble, because it means we have essentially been atrocious in every league game aside from Norwich which doesn’t count.
In response to that, a player often plays above himself on debut. It's the adrenalin and occasion that gets him through. I often discount a debut performance as it can be very misleading. Even though he was great against Villa, I believe his overall performance level since then is his natural level. Probably not good enough and maybe in the Gosling camp of player who are not really going to help us too much in the Premier League.
Thought he was really good today, harsh first yellow, although a silly second one judging by the standards of the modern game. With Etebo out long term, what the **** do we do for our next game? Cleverley back into the side?
