Ah Peter Ridsdale. That worked out well. Still you’d imagine that’s long since been outlawed. That said, would it surprise anyone if we saw 25k a week still making its way to him in the next set of accounts…
Not sure if you still can but I think Leeds were paying Robbie Fowler long after he left Edit - I see others beat me to it
Fair enough - on permanent deals? Not saying you’re wrong but I don’t know of any examples beyond the Fowler/Leeds one as pointed out. And that was 10+ years ago.
Italian media stating his medical has been completed. So hopefully a late official announcement tonight or tomorrow.
Barca reportedly looking to do it today, in a strange coincidence. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/08/...r-gossip-lazip-barcelona-coutinho-report/?amp
I seem to recall a similar situation with Leeds and an ex Liverpool striker , Fowler I think it was .
yes it’s quite common but it’s not necessarily as simple as the selling club continuing to pay the player on a monthly basis. Transfer deals and contracts can be pretty complex these days. A transfer fee may be agreed but by the time the player’s loyalty bonus has been factored in (often payable if the player did not request a move) and after the selling club has agreed to cover the cost of a portion of the player’s wages a £10m transfer fee may actually result in only a fraction of that actually changing hands.
On instagram training on his own Feel a bit sad for him Billy no Mates, he should give up on football and go and be a DJ, every spare minute he's filming himself signing and dancing that's so clearly what makes him happy
Ellington was a proven Championship player though and meant to be still in his prime. Boy did we get that wrong!
Spurs in the Carabou at MK he looked like a worldie of a player. Maybe I should get this tshirt printed
Success was supposed to be a hot hot talent, yet he's hardly been able to stay on his feet for the last 5 years...
I think the problem is that Ellington played and kept showing us how bad he was. Success has not even been good enough to play much to show us how bad he has been. Just fleeting moments showing us what could/should of been. He has certainly not lived up to his potential.
Success for me is the worst of the lot because he should have been good, Ellington was on the downturn (and never took to hoofball anyway), and Gray even at his best could hardly kick a ball
Agree with this. The frustrating thing with Success is that there is clearly a bit of something there - he has had occasional moments of, wait for it, success. But far too rare, and contrasted by a lot of moments of un-success, seemingly a lack of focus on the job, behaviour that was unprofessional, and so on. It's not just wasted money, it feels like wasted talent.
I don't know what his problem has been as he is allegedly a very talented player, but for some reason he has VERY RARELY shown that alleged talent whilst he has been with us at WFC. IMO he has basically stole a very lucrative living since he has been with us and I for one am so pleased that he has finally gone... GOOD RIDDANCE!!!
Yes, we've paid them to take him away. My local council charges £25 to pick up bulky rubbish, so hopefully we've not spent more than that.
