In fairness, 'there for the taking' is a game like Bristol City at home, Boro played really well, even before the goal (which was really jammy), we didn't really threaten
Easter period can be like Xmas period with weird unexpected results. Hopefully, that was our weird unexpected result. Perhaps nerves are creeping in with the finishing line in sight.
Personally thought Boro were decent. Did a great job on us tactically. Stopped Sarr and Kiko playing and went man for man in the midfield to stop Hughes dictating the play. Let WTE have the ball and pressed Sieralta. What was worrying was that we didn’t respond to it at all. Can almost guarantee that Reading, Luton Millwall etc will follow that model so we’ll need to find a way to adapt.
JP's missus flew back to Brazil today (from living with JP in London) I think. That, coupled with the knock he took on Friday may explain why he looked off the pace.
Because you're making something up to try and prove yourself right from a couple of weeks ago but it's actually completely illogical. Your argument was that we should always be aiming to win the league even when it seemed a distant possibility and not thinking about second place as the prize. We could've gone three points behind Norwich today but you've randomly decided that the players were suddenly more concerned about the gap to 3rd/4th, just so you could say that you were right. Surely they would've been *more* likely to be thinking about winning the league today as it was becoming likely after recent results. And it does seem a bit weird to jump straight on a flat performance as a means of claiming that, as per usual, you were right.
We had to stop winning at some point and away to a Warnock team fighting for a playoff place is a respectable place to draw. However the performance was concerning, it never felt like we would turn it on and do enough to earn a win. On the other hand, form always changes and our ‘bad form’ has yielded 4 points from 2 games. Our form will turn good again so no concerns.
Would of taken a draw if offered but in all honesty it wasn't a good watch. Just couldn't seem to get going, so credit to Boro for that. What we do need to do is pick up the pace of the game
Poor performance and a point was about right. We have ridden our luck over the last couple of matches so it was a bit much to expect that to last for too long. Maybe a few too many mediocre performances today. Boro were really up for the fight though. We are still in a very string position, but need to really come out fighting vs Reading and get the win.
Somewhere along the line we were going to get a result which we don’t like, today’s is that result, the team didn’t play well enough to win all three points, they will know that and be reminded, Friday is the first chance they have to put thar right!
well that what ****. They never look like scoring and we never looked the threat we did before the break. Love Sema , but the goal was his fault, having said that the amount of fouls we were giving away always looked like the best chance of scoring. lets hope it gels in the next game
Probably sat in the luggage hold on the plane back to London about now. Peeling spuds for tea for his "involvement" in our ponderous performance.
Lucky to get a point - another away performance like most of the season. Got away with it a few times. We are much better at home .
Didn’t take long for the negativity to return. It’s not possible to win every game , an away point to a play off contender is decent , albeit with disappointing performance . Boro didn’t threaten at all apart from an absolute peach of a cross for the goal . We lacked urgency and quality in final third but threatened enough to warrant a second goal. Beat Reading on Friday and I’d say one more win from remaining 5 games should be enough . Need Norwich to slip up .
Another Ivic display. It was plain to everyone watching in my household that they were gonna get a chance and score. Very stupid to play for a 0-1 win from half time. There is something wrong with this team. To have Sarr and not use his pace running on to the left back is nuts. Pedro lacks any confidence. Sema, who I thought was the missing link against Weds looked clueless. Why is Hughes playing so deep. The passing between WTE and Serralta was as painful to watch as ever. Kilo worryingly left big gaps on the right side. We certainly don’t look comfortable in Second place do we. We now have to watch Swansea and Brentford close the gap.
I don't see the relevance of your reply? Were you happy the we only had 2 shots on target when we are pushing for promotion?
Like we were against Sheffield Wednesday you mean?! Both performances were equally crap. Since the Coventry match there hasn't been much difference in our home and away games.
Biggest disappointment from that is I think it gives Brentford a sniff. 12 points would have been a huge blow mentally, but now they’ll be well up for their game tomorrow.
Dont think offensively Sema was any worse than our other players today tbh. It was his shot that enabled the goal.
I did wonder this myself. Not because we drew - I’d have taken a draw before the game and we’re bound to drop some points between now and the end of the season - but more because of the manner in which we played, which was more of a worry to me.
Hopefully Bowyer can do them like he did Swansea. But I agree - we need to concentrate on what we do. End of the day, remain unbeaten between now and Brenford we should have enough to make it. Sheff Wed was our last "easy" game on paper. Today was a tough fixture, Colin did his homework and we only half turned up. Reading are not pushovers, even Millwall could be a banana skin.
How much was fatigue how much anxiety? Only the players will know. We needed 7/10 from everyone and few did. JP really needs a goal and Sema was distinctly below par. Not sure I can take the pace, let alone the players. 90 minutes of torture.
I also thought we were naive. Colin clearly parked the bus and told his team to play anti football - park the bus, go down at every opportunity, take any momentum out the game, sneak a goal from a free kick... we didn't really look we had any clue how to counter it.
