Now we appear to have signifantly strengthened our attacking line up, I think Troy may well be deployed in a deeper role, perhaps similar to way Man U have been using Rooney? What do you lot think?
Why would we play Deeney deeper when we have better #10s I think it more likely he will end up on the bench more (as happens with Ronney)
To be honest I think it would do him good to be on the bench some of the time he has played almost all of the minutes of this season, and with the criticism he is receiving (players must surely look at these posts) it might take a bit of the weight of expectancy off his shoulders. My opinion is that he is a great player and that this scenario might just rejuvenate him. Also if he plays behind the striker(s) then he is perfect at feeding them, as he was with Vydra, who I think would have scored quite a lot less without the assists from Troy.
Depending on the formation I could see him thriving as our sole striker with success, niang or amrabat either side and pereyra or Zarate just behind
I can see him doing a good job for us on the bench, in a park, a good few miles away from future matches
I don't think TD best position is as a lone striker, if you rememer Nemo, it was when Troy and Iggy swapped places that their partnership began to flourish! Originally Troy played up front and Iggy was in behind, then they switched positions and the rest is history!
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and think I misunderstood you. The reason why I disagreed is because you wanted him to drop back like Rooney. Rooney has been playing in centre mid, almost as a deep lying playmaker. He's dropped far far deeper than you think/ There's no way Deeney could do that. Now I see that you mean just behind the striker, like he did last season with Ighalo, and it makes a bit more sense.
Deeney said he would cherish a no 10 role. ..........as long as it comes deep fried with no s 14, 62 , 67, and 3 full banquets for X 8 people
Troy Deeney detractors need take a long hard look at themselves after what he has done to get the club into its current position. When he arrived I was a doubter for a long while but after a few years of 100% effort I'm willing to give him time to prove he can still do the business for us.Still the best man in the squad to be our captain.
Hopefully the signings of Zarate and Niang help Deeneys form improve. The last month or so we've not really played any proper football and we now have 2 players who are willing to accept the ball in tight spaces, move in the attacking third and commit defenders. There's only so much which can be done when the ball is constantly kicked as long and hard as our CB's can physically manage while the other team are in their shape. Changing to a more intelligent style of play where the ball is actually passed along the ground and we have players moving off the ball can only be a good thing. I reckon he'll finish the season on about 12 goals and be happy with that
I see Cadbury have given the club a GIANT bar of chocolate. Are they trying to give our captain type 2 diabetes or wot
