Come on guys, this is why we can't have nice jokes. It's like when people insist on the /s tag after comments on reddit, surely we're all better than that!
Lindegaard has left West Brom after his contract expired. Might be decent for free as a number two keeper if we sell Panty.
It didn't expire, they cancelled it. He was their third choice and they cancelled his contract, I wouldn't want him anywhere near the Watford squad.
This may seem like a strange/bad one but, DeAndre Yedlin? He'll be available at quite a cheap price from Spurs and he's lightning quick so could make a good wing back, even if just as a backup.
The one from Partizan? He's off to Benfica, his agent (his dad) is also charging them a MASSIVE sign-on fee (around £8m)
Raphael Guerreiro Portugal, Lorient ( France ) left full back age 22. Had a strong tournament and after winning his price has probably gone up and also noticed by the rest of Europe too. Sorry if already been suggested.
Mourinho's youth exiling has begun.. Blackett and Varela told they can leave. United fans speak very highly of Varela not sure on his suitability at wing back but is a good full back with lots of potential. Would love him here.
I've seen Varela a few times and think he could make it here. He's young, but already better than Paredes. Blackett is a championship standard player. Might suit a team like Burnley though, who could develop him.
Blackett could not get in the Celtic team who play against part-time pub teams and the occasional big game against the Luxembourg champions each year (before losing). United played two wingers in Valencia and Young at full back before they both got injured and played Varella there for a few games to cover. At 23, he is never going to make it at this level I would imagine.
United also played Rafael and Cleverely over Pogba and they let Cathcart and Drinkwater go so I wouldn't be so hasty writing him off!
A teenager Pogba left to go to better things, they did not want him to go. Rafael is a right back, different position to Pogba's central midfield, did you mean Rodrigo Possebom? Yep Cathcart and Drinkwater have done well later on but I think united's squad was slightly better then under Fergie than now.
Still think we should try to sign Robbie Brady and Wes Hoolahan (I know we all hate him) from Norwich. As much as I hate Hoolahan he does have a good vision for the game and a decent pass on him. Certainly did himself no harm in the Euro's as well. Both would be be in our wage structure and price range.
Apparently Fergie was playing hard ball with Pogba as he refused to sign his new contract. It was nothing to do with his ability, as he was known by most as the second most talented youngster in the whole country behind Ravel Morrison. James Wilson was absolute quality in the youth teams, although a few niggling injuries held him back. If he could get some regular first team football he could be a star. I'd sign him for 1-2 million, send him on loan and see if he develops to his potential. At the time he showed greater talent that players like Ibe and Lingard, who are now worth 15m plus.
Personally I couldn't think of a more over rated player than Lingard. £15 million? You're probably right in terms of valuation in today's market, but I reckon he'd be bang average if he played for a lower half premier league team.
He was never much of a talent in the youth teams, but seems to have that combination of hard work, pace and tactical awareness that makes him more of a 'useful, utility player. His awareness means that he scores a decent number of goals, by being in the right place at the right time. Every team needs hard working utility players who can score and do not make a fuss, but you're right in that he would have to drop right down the league to be the star of the team.
Yeh, he's got a lot of talent, but blows hot and cold. Would be a great buy, but I can't imagine them selling him just yet.
Nacir Bentaleb left out of Spurs pre season squad. Local, shouldn't cost too much as has fallen out with Pochettino, and has a lot of potential. And most importantly, home grown I believe.
May be quite ambitious and pricey but with Hull in the state they seem to be Andrew Robertson highly rated young left back, would count as homegrown I believe. Extremely unlikely I know.
Wow, Utd fans have spent the past year telling anyone who'll listen/they pass on the street what an incredible prospect Fosu-Mensah is, and how he'll be their backup full back this season. If it's true that he's on the way out, that's an incredible immediate and direct example of Jose's total lack of interest in youth players and furthering their careers, whatever laughable *******s he produces to wave in front of an increasingly bewildered press pack.
He is Scottish and came through the the youth system of Queen's Park. No more home grown than someone like Vydra. I would take both. The Dutch lad is no way a full back though, a central midfielder all day long. I caught a game of him last year in a United under 21 game, immense performance in the middle of thew park, won everything.
