Rate him and would welcome him but frankly if he isn't going to stand much chance of playing this season, and is cup tied, why not wait til summer when he's free bar the compensation, which won't be the 3 million Pool want now?
If it's compo between us and them it could actually work out as more. The tribunal system is notorious for over-valuing players and would represent a massive gamble. If it's Liverpool and another Pozzo club it will be much less.
Not at Prem level. He doesn't react well to being on the bench & having to wait for his chance so I'd rather we went for someone that does.
The club have said we won't be using one of the other 2 clubs as a shill. Mind you if Liverpool mess us about...
Simon Stone @sistoney67 6m6 minutes ago So, @WatfordFC asked for Jerome Sinclair over the weekend. Liverpool said no. Will probably happen in summer now. Matt Hughes @MattHughesTimes 6m6 minutes ago #LFC reject improved offer of £1.5m rising to £3m from #Watford for Jerome Sinclair. #LFC want to use Sinclair as makeweight in other deals.
Don't know how, as he's in the last 6 months of his contract he will be free to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club, perhaps Udinese, and LFC get nothing.
Unless a deal comes through in the next 11 hours, they're completely stupid and this is another example of how completely brain-dead their backroom staff are.
Or they get another four months to persuade him to take a new contract. I reckon if we don't get him now, we won't be back in the summer. And I wouldn't be at all bothered.
Liverpool Echo suggesting this isn't dead but we need to increase our bid. Can see him being the striker in today because there's just no other hints of any other names. The Pozzos work in mysterious ways though!
The Mirror are saying Liverpoo have turned down £3m now. I don't know how accurate they are though, could just be bull****.
If he signs a deal with us and a tribunal sets the price we have to pay then would he be released from his Liverpool contract and be able to join us straight away?
Wonder if it'll be through Granada/Udinese or not. I doubt they'd want to annoy a club like Liverpool who could potentially pay big money for our players in the future.
Anyone else find it bizarre a young player wants to leave a 'big' club and move to Watford? Not complaining just sayin....
Not really, we would find it a daft if one of our regulars was leaving us to join a "big club" but not play, wouldn't we? Surely he is just looking to play more.
Talks ongoing apparently. Real likelihood of him joining us. Compensation due to Liverpool and if so, hope it's peanuts after the derisory £900k they gave us for John Barnes.
If Udinese or Granada sign him up for next to nothing (?) then sell him on to us for ~100k so that we could say substantial sum was agreed upon that would be nice.
I'd be all for the Pozzos pulling a sneaky one but I suspect they probably won't. Either they'll do a deal with Liverpool or let the tribunal set the fee.
I think so too. Short term gain by shafting Liverpool would only come back to bite us on the arse at some future point.
Meh. Liverpool would be at the head of queue to shaft us if we got a wonder kid in the academy like when they stole Sterling from QPR. Let's shaft them.
Trouble is mud sticks. I'm not so fussed about Liverpool as other clubs closing doors to us in future out of sympathy for the scousers. Or they'll just change the rules, in which case I'd rather we blew our only shot at pulling this move on a better player than Sinclair.
