I'm only stating what I saw... and like you, I was shouting "Shooot" as well.. I agree that if Doyley had scored, it would have been a monumental moment. I was sat in row B just to the right handside of the goal and I saw Troy turn around and look at all of us like we were a bunch of ****s for shouting shoot.. I was quite surprised with his response, that's all.
Deeney gets annoyed about 10 times a game. It's nothing new, he's one of those players who always wants the ball.
I shout shoot everytime Lloyd gets the ball in the opposition half, even if just over the halfway line. I'm not sure the crowd would have influenced Lloyd's decision to shoot and lets be fair here it was no worse than Mcgugan's shots throughout the game. And that isn't a dig at either. Deeney looked non-existent in the first half, looked uninterested too. Not sure what that was about.
For me Deeney gets frustrated if he is not effecting the game, this comes from his desire to win, which is one of the things he brings to the team, it happens in every single game, be it proffesional or sunday league ? Some people read too much into things on here & over analyse
It royally wrankles me when someone said that 'their head has been turned' or that a player has been mentally affected by a bid (Cabeye). These people get paid considerably more than what I do and they should all be bl00dy professional and get on with their job UNTIL the club accepts a bid and they will be able to negotiate their contract.
Or they fake an injury and declare themselves unfit to play....Yes you Mike Williamson you Big wet w4nk!!!
I feel dirty agreeing with JB - who has also disliked this post - i hope it is for a different reason - mine is simple - if he has to play then LD should do what he is ok at - get it from there player and give it to one of ours who can play a bit I know i will get a stream of abuse but all this Sir Lloyd stuff drives me mad - he is a very loyal servant of our club and has been very well rewarded for it - he just about deserved a new contract and seems to be doing an ok job so far - but for goodness sake don't encourage him to shoot - he did not go 400 games without scoring because he was unlucky - it was because he can't finish - simple as As for Deeney being a bit inpatient with his team mates - who cares - they are all grown ups!
Entirely fair point for you to make. I do happen to disagree with you massively at the moment though, and I think our tiny Italian coach would too. Sir Lloyd, sorry, was involved in everthing on his side of the pitch, up to the the penalty box, against Reading, far more involved than any of the other defenders, but he was always back to defend as well. He is clearly being encouraged to get involved in the attacking play and does so effectively (he was more effective than Angella when playing the ball, and did a lot more of it). He is also probably the best of the defenders defensively at the moment too, so I find it really difficult to understand why people think he is just OK. Why not have a shot when the chance arises, and it was a decent chance. I seriously think that at least a few of the players or management team would have asked him why he didn't have a pop, it was a good opportunity, and it was no worse an effort that most others we've seen from that range this season. JB dislikes me because he can't forgive me for biatching about Vydra so you're probably OK there.
*affecting! *professional! :dismay: I agree with you. He has a massive desire to win and clearly gets very frustrated if he is not getting any service from the midfield.
Troy was at the Hornet Shop yesterday meeting the fans, having photos taken etc. Didn't look like a player that was about to leave the club.
Current betting odds for Deeney joining clubs are fairly long, none shorter than 10/1. The bookies are fairly objective and rarely wrong and they don't see him leaving.
Agreed. He was at the open day, at the club shop signing. Went to the Bristol game and asked to do the commentary (he even said he was told he could stay at home and rest) and publicly said he wants to not play b in the prem... next season with Watford...... If he goes before next season then it'll be because we get a ridiculous bid 15+ , which isn't going to happen, like it didn't happen with Vyd but if we don't go up this year .... he's gone! Till then. .... closed book !
Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't think he will leave, just stating that I don't think the fact he was at the club shop yesterday counts for too much. I have been convinced ever since the rumour came out that he'd be a Watford player come September the 3rd. We would be mad to sell him, he is our 25 goal a season striker if he stays fit and out of trouble. Promotion to the pozzo's is worth 120 million approx, deeney is invaluable.
Zola telling him to concentrate on his game rather than rumours - so when is he leaving? This plus the disinterest and abuse of fans at weekend means he is gone for sure
Zola publicly criticising him surprised me as did Almunia criticising Vydra. Usually "what happens in dressing room" stays there.
Not sure what to make of those comments from Zola. He certainly seems to be implying that deeney didn't put 100% in last week at reading. Will be interesting to see his body language and work ethic on Sunday.
Udinese are currently scouting Terrence Boyd. Hopefully it's as back up if he happens to join us. Unless it's a literally crazy offer of £15m+ with a good replacement coming in, I'd really question the Pozzos if he was sold.
Ok, devils advocate. What if Zola has said what he's said in the press because deeney has spat his dummy and wants out? I'm not saying that he has, however, zola's comments seem strange to me and suggests not all is rosey. Would you take 10 million for him if you knew Boyd was coming in? I would. Wouldn't want an unhappy player here personally, he'd upset the apple cart and we could do without that.
Can't see anything on the YouTube clips that would indicate Boyd would be able to replace Deeney. The Deeney of three years ago, maybe; but not the Deeney of last season.
IMO If a player doesn't wan to be here the he should be allowed to leave. We need a team all pulling in the same direction and not a team with a want away player in the ranks. I would seel now if that's what the players wants and concentrate on getting a replacement that 1. potentially as good and 2. wants to be here.
IF Deeney definitely wanted to leave, yes. If the Pozzos thought that he was good enough to replace Deeney and had scouted him for a while, I'd feel comfortable with him coming in. Worse case scenario, we have Fab/Fessi and Acuna up top.
Other than for money, I don't see why Deeney would want to go at this particular time. However if he wants to go then sort it quickly so that a replacement can be brought in before the window closes. Nobody is irreplaceable with the Pozzos scouting organisation.
