I'd be very happy if we got Rhodes in as a replacement for Deeney. Would score 30 goals in this side, easy.

I'd like to Acuna given a chance pretty soon. Think he'll prove to be a very good player if given a run of games.

Whilst its obvious that Jordan Rhodes is a class striker - there isn't a hope that we could sign him.

for starters the Pozzo's would not spend the transfer fee required to obtain him.

We certainly would not be able to pay the salary required.

Not to mention the 'registration embargo' that we are currently under for the remainder of this transfer window!!

If Jordan Rhodes was obtainable he would have already be signed up by QPR

Rhodes spotted in Bournemouth. Meeting up with the squad ahead of Tuesday's derby with the Seasiders?

I'd leave now if I was Deeney. Only a matter of times before he goes through a rough patch and our unforgiving fans get on his back and say we should have sold him when we had the chance (a classic example of this is Loach)

Linked with West Ham and Southampton is the latest news. Both sides needing to bolster their attacking options for the season

I was just throwing it out there and not really an option. Saw him a couple of times last season when I was up north. Sorry he's no Deeney and personally wouldn't want him, definately not worth what they paid for him. Maybe in a couple of years

Anyone who doesn't think we should have sold Loach if there was a £2m plus offer on the table has no concept of mathematics.

Southampton have spent £15M on Osvaldo. They have Lambert and Rodriguez. Hard to see they would spend the sort of money we would be looking for to get Deeney. And not the sort of player Pochettino would go for.

West Ham. They will have to pay the relevant price. Still think it extremely unlikely even if there was a tenable offer that the Watford organization would let Deeney go as he is integral to promotion this season.

Why wouldn't the Pozzo's buy Rhodes? Lets say that someone offers £10m for Deeney (unlikely I know) then I see no reason why the Pozzos wouldn't offer the same amount for Rhodes to replace him. We would then end up with a player who I think is marginally better than Deeney.

Deeney seems in the thinking mood looking at his tweets

should we be concerned? Hypothetically if he did leave, do we have enough time to bring in an adequate replacement?

Always got to laugh when the likes of @T_Deeney tweet something, and 70% of the #WatfordFC twitter fanbase assume it's a sign he's leaving!

Just look at the others who left us for the big time Troy; none of their careers are going that well, and I include Ashley Young in that, as even he is only a bit part player at Man U!!!

I think your best chance of making it big Troy, is to stick with us, at least until the end of this season. Because if we go up you can progress with us, rather than go to PL club now and warm the bench at the very best!

However, if we don't make the PL , perhaps you should reconsider your position then?

Manuel Almunia must know better than most what it is like to be contracted to a top side and not play much - Almunia was first choice at arsenal for 1$ season out of his 8 seasons there - which in all likelyhood is what will happen to Deeney if he leaves. Then again - he could advice Deeney on what the big time is like. Could go either way - we'll know in 6 days time.

I'd have sold him for a bag of jelly babies after the Tottenham game.

For people who don't understand mathematics:

£2m ≈ 222,469 bags of large Haribo jelly babies
    or
£2m ≈ 666,667 mini bags of mini jelly babies.

You could also pay for around 250 average funerals.

This morning's tweet - maybe time to delete my social media accounts

Could either mean so he can't be abused on Twitter if he goes or he's fed up with every tweet being analysed as we all try to interpret between the lines (just like I'm doing here!)

Probably a bit irritated at every tweet being met with "you off mate?" I'd be shocked if he went, what side still needs a striker and would be willing to pay a bare minimum of £7m? And that really is bare minimum.

The bloke is a drama queen. Deleting his account because of a few questions about his previous tweets. Don't send provocative tweets if you're not going to like the responses. He must have known deep down this was going to happen when he tweeted it. A bit pathetic if you ask me, he needs to grow up.

After his 'shifts' at reading and forest when he basically couldn't be bothered to turn up and fight for the team, I wouldn't be worried about him going. I only want players here that want to be here.

It will be interesting to see what does happen in the next week, I wonder if deeney will repay the loyalty shown in him by Zola and not only stay at the club but also pull his finger out and start battling again.

I await to be shot down by the thought police on here that thinks deeney can do no wrong.

IMO for the first time in his career he's been linked with big money moves to Prem clubs ... it would be enough to distract any player in that position. He's been wise to take counsel from trusted people around him and I'm sure they'll have reminded him that he's at a club that are 100% behind him, with fans that love him and in a squad tipped for promotion to the golden land.

They'll have pointed to Vydra's mistakes and told him to ignore what is in essence just paper talk, concentrate on his footy, get 20 goals in the bag and then sit down at the end of the season to have meaningful conversations with the club at that time.

People were questioning his commitment to wfc on Sunday because he missed a header..

I'm assuming he's deleting his account because all of a sudden Watford have increased their fan base to include a big bunch of numpties.

Whatever Troy does, it is up to him. Personally I would love to see him stay and would be gutted if he left. I was one of the many that was against the idea of him coming back last year but if I ever had the chance to tell him face to face, I'd tell him that he proved me wrong and I'm happy that he did. Since his return he has been the model pro and has done his very best to bond the team and has done it well. He is an incredibly hard worker on and off the field from everything that we see.

Being linked away is always going to be an issue but at all times he has been certain to quash rumours with retweets and comments and even saying that he isn't looking to move away. I'm not saying he has it easy at Watford but he knows he is a contender for that starting place, doesn't stop him working hard. He wasn't involved much in the game this weekend but there wasn't much link up play with him and Fabbrini. For people then to take to twitter and slag him off is ridiculous. He missed a header, so what? It isn't the end of the world. No need to go off on one at him.

How so, JB? I questioned his commitment in the last two games. I think you'll find our manager has done exactly the same. I wasn't angered by the missed header, it was a sitter granted, however, as mentioned above, it was his lack of effort that annoyed me. I don't think he has been at the races in the last two games, funnily ever since the speculation about his future. He didn't attempt to make things happen against forest. Last season when he was marked out of games he went looking for the ball and usually picked up a yellow card for getting frustrated and kicking someone. Shows signs of passion and commitment. That hasn't been there since Bournemouth, since the speculation.

If he thinks he's good enough for the premiership yet he's mistaken. He's being marked out of games by players like Hobbs. Imagine what quality players would do.

To be fair to Troy, he was feeding off scraps on Sunday. He didn't get many decent balls into him and was pretty isolated for most of the game. Fabb was coming deep to get the ball and although Anya and Pudil were putting in a few crosses, done were falling to TD. I actually felt that he was missing a closer strike partner to help him out. Last year, centre backs were always worried about Vydra and Deeney. On Sunday, the Forrest centre backs just had TD to contain and could leave Fabb to the midfielders quite a bit of the time. Maybe we need to play Fabb just behind a front two (TD and Acuna/Fessi)?
I think (and hope) that TD has some sensible people around him, including his family and they will help him through what is probably the first time he has needed to ignore national paper talk about a big move. Let's face it, the fella has scored 5 goals already this season, so he's hardly going through a goal-drought. This time last year we still had Garner as one of our strikers, so it's not all bad!

Any player that goes on twitter has to have a thicker skin than a rhino's butt. If you want to swim in this murky pool you have to accept you are going to come out smelling like cr&p occasionally. It's a great tool to get your message out there and connect with the fans, but if you use it too often you become too familiar and fans start to take liberties.....this is always going to happen.

I think players should use it occasionally when they've got something to say, but not for things like "I put baked beans in our left back's pants today...hee hee".

In the close season I loved the way Deeney used his account with funny photos of players asleep etc. This is good natured and how it can be used. Maybe some players get too involved and take to heart the messages they receive, which is something they should never do.

Players have to take the rough with the smooth......if they play well the fans will love them, if they have a bad game then they will get fans giving you some stick.....In reality it is only a handful but will seem like thousands to the player concerned. 2 or 3 trolls can really affect how someone feels about themselves be it positive or negative......this is the real problem with twitter and if I was a player I would stay well clear.
