Appreciate your efforts, but I am still none the wiser. Presumably it means that Battacchio is putting out a plea to the club sign him up. If that is the case, it is a little late in the day to be organising the transfer, when Udinese and Watford had a full month to sort out the paperwork. We will have them on loan for the season and decisions will be made in the summer, which, when it comes down to it, makes alot of sense, if a little unexciting.
This might be an optimistic longshot, but it might be a clue that he is signing? Guess we will find out later anyway
From the Sporting Life website.. 'Napoli youngster Soma Novothny could be set for a loan switch to Watford, according the player's own father.' 18 years old, Hungarian and a forward.
I think it makes sense to not sign the loanee's, as a club we don't generate enough money to be able to afford these players wages. Especially with the likes of ****o and bauben still here probably on a decent wage. The players are all but ours, but this way we don't pay for them and it keeps costs down. This is of increasing importance with FFP coming in soon.
I think you're clutching at straws there to be honest. We were told that the loanees were coming and we could permanently sign those who caught our fancy. We were specifically told that FF, Vydra, Abdi and (I think) Pudil would be signing permanently. I don't think there's any question that we like Vydra and Abdi along with Battochio and Ekstrand who've played well since. So WHY have they not signed? There has to be a reason for it. Even if they're signing later today - why is it being left so late? Don't get it.
a We are 4th in the league. We practically own them anyway. By not 'signing' them, we don't pay their wages. We've got one eye on FFP. Shall I get some people some tampons?
It's all very well them coming over and saying that they want to be here for a long time etc. but the truth will be that agents and big clubs will have been in their ears promising big money and premiership football. Hence if they don't get us up this season that is where they will go
Why do people keep saying about money and Watford not having to pay for the loan players if we don't sign them? We are owned by the same people that own them anyway, If the Pozzo's are paying there wages now, who do these people think will pay there wages when they sign for Watford?
It is VERY VERY simple. Lets try this again. The Pozzos own Udinese. The Pozzos own Watford. The Pozzos own Granada. We have separate finances to the other 3. We have been loaned some of the other clubs players, they still pay the wages. Watford have 10+ players at the club, and the wages aren't charged to the club. We have to conform to financial rules soon, in the mean time we need to reduce debt. Are we all on the same page now?
Are people forgetting that these players are still contracted to the Pozzo's. It doesn't matter if they sign across to us, the Pozzo's would still effectively own them and therefore would be able to sell them if they so wished. I think we need to chill out a little around these permanent signings and enjoy them whilst they're here and if they are sold then enjoy who they are replaced with.
FFP wont take this into consideration. They'll see watford fc (not pozzo, not udinese) accounts which will show we're paying big wages which can't be sustained.
If were to sign some of the loanees permanently today, would it have to be done by 6pm since that's when the Italian deadline is? Or is that only for incoming transfers?
Out of interest, how would QPR and teams like that get away with it? or is this why these deals and contracts are getting done now? Also is it just wages that are being looked at with the FFP? could a player be on relatively low wages for FFP reasons but be given bonuses to bump the money up, therefore be a way round FFP.
In the Watford FC accounts couldn't the wages theoretically be set at zero and all payment be made via Italy. I don't suppose WFC are paying the loanees wages though their books at the moment, so why would that need to change simply because the registration papers have got a new name on them?
Am I missing something here? What's the big deal if we don't end up adding to the squad before 11pm, best squad we've ever had IMO!!!!
He's a snigering Oxbridge posho. A Tim nice but dim who knows more about surfing and snowboarding than he does about football.
Because there are areas we can improve in and it's exciting! This has to be the quietest deadline day for a long time.
This inactivity is ruining my transfer deadline day. No one even sent me a 'Happy Deadline Day' card. Can't we at least borrow Leigh Bromby, or Anthony Macnamee for chrissakes?
Haha got nothing. Made approaches but getting knocked back by everyone. I'm more concerned we didn't make the loanees permanent, that was meant to be done today, including Vydra. If that's not announced by the end of the day I'd be seriously confused.
