"I did not want to push the matter, but now when I see how people in this club would like to make that [a permanent deal] happen, it is very likely that Matej will become a Watford player in January."

    That'll be Arsenhole then.

Arse Venger still frantically trying to make up with their supporters for having flogged Van Persie.

Of the other four I'd reckon definites would be Newcastle, Wet Spam, Southampton. The other one is probably someone like Foolham or Reading.

and just to add......HOW SWEET it is to have decent players that don't leave for 'better things' the minute they start doing anything at all.

If Bas was still in charge and we'd somehow lucked into a player of Vydra's ability, he'd be packing his bags now in return for 1.2 million or something derisery.

The greater portion of which would no doubt find its way mysteriously into Bas's wallet.

Neither Everton nor Arsenal would be willing to spend what I imagine the Pozzo's would want.

Regarding the article, HAPPY DAYS!! :jumping1:

It absolutely makes sense for him to stay at Watford and as a Watford player. He is obviously blossoming under Zola and the coaching staff here. He seems to love playing for the club and is a natural goalscorer. Him playing regularly for us means his value will increase which could lead to a large offer coming in. It's a win-win for The Pozzos and Watford. I am not sure whether he'd get as much first team football at Udinese or Granada.

I can see him signing a 4 or 5 and a half year deal in the January transfer window. If not, it'll be in the summer with Watford on a long term contract if we're in the Prem, or, if we don't make it up, Udinese (again a long term contract) or another big club. It would be quite something if we gave a long contract to Vydra at WFC.

It is truly unbelievable how much things have changed so quickly for the club.

I predict he will go to Chelsea as Torres replacement once he's had a successful season with us in the prem. For mega wonga.

In that instance signing now for any lesser prem club will be an obstruction. The agent knows exactly what he is doing.

It's bloody brilliant. If, hypothetically, Matej would've been playing like this for us last year under bas, I wouldn't have been surprised if we accepted the first offer from a lower Prem club of something like £5m.

I think the agent is just trying to create a big of panic to get his client a few thousand a week extra

The top 6 club is Spurs I think.

"Udinese or Watford will not sell him for £5m. If you look back at the previous transfers of the clubs owned by the same owners, you will see that they only do big ones"

    That's the best bit

Although not a cast iron guarantee, this is very good news - now it's down to the men in suits to make it happen.

This will be a real statement of intent and may make other permanent signings more likely.

It looks like a sensible outcome for all concerned. The Pozzo family will not need us to tell them that they have a valuable asset in their hands. At his current level of progression his value is increasing hugely by the week. If they sold him now, no matter what type of a deal you negotiate with add ons etc, you will still not achieve the maximum return for him. Lets get a year or two more from him and allow the Pozzos to make their profit, which we all realise will happen if we have a world class striker on our books. The beauty of our present situation is that we are likely to have more Vydras to replace him thanks to the scouting network. As for Vydra, he would probably acknowledge that he would not walk into a top 4 premiership team at the moment and could be a bit part player. If he bides his time, whilst enjoying his football, the rewards, both in terms of finance and playing time, are much higher for him.

Not sure how is agent will view all this though. A commission fee on a transfer would be most welcome to him, I'm sure. Does anyone know what the length of Vydra's current contract with Udinese is? This will also be a determining factor.

18 months I think left. The agent will get commision on the Watford move, wait 2 years, then get an absolute fortune on a move to a big cub

Oh please let this be true. Then let's see the ink on the long term contracts for Abdi, Pudil, Ekstrand, Battocchio and Deeney and a cheeky 1 year deal for Cassetti.

    Forza Hornettos!

My first thought was Tottenham - as much as I'd love him to stay, I think that'd be a good move for him when he does eventually leave us.

Just slip the contract in for signing with the others "what's this another year for Casetti, on slightly increased wages...(Nani looks off into the distance imagining himself sporting Casetti's beard) Hmm Go on then one more year"

    Just read the article and the comment at the bottom summed up Watford completely (sorry to change the subject);

    tony says January 23, 2013 2:00pm

Would be an excellent signing for Watford. Don't think people should give them the title "little old Watford" anymore. The club is on the up, now doesn't need to undersell players on their books to make ends meet. The major factor is watford includes a vast number of homegrown/academy players in their matchday squads, alongside their new loanees, so have they lost their identity, doesn't appear to be the case. They've also I believe offered 4-5 year contracts to their promising academy players, so well done Watford, who have questioned Watford's stance on their academy "if your good enough, you will get the chance". People questioning clubs identity, lets look at people like Cardiff changing their badge & home colour, or Newcastle just having French signings, there more deserving of criticism then of Watford. Tony, From Hull

    This guys speaks absolute sense!!

The Pozzos will sell anyone in any window for the right price. It's how they operate and it works well for them. If a big enough offer comes along he will be sold, if it doesn't then he'll get a long contract until that offer comes.
What his agent says is totally meaningless.

I don't think those quotes are meaningless. Whilst the cynical view can be right in saying he could be drumming up interest etc what he's said makes total sense, and so would the move.

I thought one of Udinese's fans (might've been Sherlock) said that they rarely sell players in the January transfer window?
