Yep we really are stuffed. Incredible that the squad has been allowed to fall into this position through negligence and arrogance.
2 years ago certainly he would have looked worse. But for Udinese he got game time and looked not awful. Given he's not featured in any of our games though...
He was awful for us and couldn't defend so just didn’t bother. Went to Udinese who fought relegation all season and were shocking defensively and still only played 50% of the games he was eligible for. Yes. He’s worse.
I like this although not sure Massina is a better option than Holebas, left back is a big problem for the club and I said this when we didn't get the DR deal, we should have kept the Sarr money and bought Rose instead as the defence should have been a priority in the summer. I do think that we need to find a way to get Sarr, Pereyra, Welbeck and Deulofeu in the same 11.
Why do you say this? I mean it could be true but I don’t know how you can be certain. But I do agree it’s best consigned to history as if it was a possibility, it certainly won’t be presented to us again.
Well it's mainly my opinion but I have no doubt at all he was never going to sign. What is certain is a deal wasn't close. Although I get what people are reading into him being at the training ground, it really just reflected the last minute nature of whatever was going on.
Not for me. I hate to see centre backs at full back. Mariappa is one that has been played at full back and was abysmal. On last nights showing Holebas is the better of the two but in fairness to Masina he's been away for 3 weeks and hasn't played a match this season
I think we will just have to limp through with Holebas until January. Don’t really see another option.
I don't often agree with you but this comment is without fault. We stupidly and arrogantly believed that cos of last season, we can breeze through the last 3+ transfer windows without getting a good cb, good lb and good rb. They were aging and, whilst they weren't getting worse, there isn't much of a gap between the mid table squads and eventually things will change. A lb that was good one year might not be next year (and chances are won't be if he's 35). Our back line is either old, slow or crap (for want of a better word). We could see this coming from our defensive stats over the past few seasons and yet it was only addressed by Masina (not good enough), Femenia (as much as I want to like him because he's fast, he has no defensive awareness and was a free from Deportivo Alaves, should've seen that coming), Wilmot (wrongly sent out on loan and trialled at CDM last year) and Dawson (a poor CB who didn't do well last year in the Championship and hadn't done well in the Prem in his last season there). Utterly woeful and reeks of arrogance and complacency. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
Fair enough. I just can’t marry up ‘never going to sign for us’ with ‘being at the training ground on deadline day’ - Spurs we’re clearly prepared to sell and we clearly wanted to buy. I’m sure his agent will have also had an inkling of the package available to Rose. Where I can agree with the ‘never going to sign’ statement is that Watford would never have paid upwards of £20m for a 30y/o full-back.
We've just conceded 8 at Citeh. I think we will be disappointed at how defensive a team QSF plays at Wolves. Something like; Foster Femenia - Kabasale - Dawson - Holebas Capoue - Doucoure Hughes - Cleverley - Pereyra Sarr or GD
That’s the team I think he will play. I would play Sarr, GD and Pereyra from the start, but doubt he will
Not directly related to the match, but Wolves' owners have lost £1bn from the Thomas Cook collapse - they were the single largest shareholder with an 18% stake: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...ners-Fosun-receive-lucky-escape.html#comments Supposedly they're now looking for external investment in Wolves and/or to sell some part of their share. Despite having qualified for the Europa League, it could be a slightly concerning time for them both on and off the pitch.
Unfortunately I don't see us changing much from the City game. This is what I think we will see (not what I want to see): Foster Janmaat Dawson Mariappa Holebas Capoue Doucoure Sarr Cleverley Hughes Deulofeu
Given the second half against Arsenal, I think we have more chance of seeing Sarr as the striker than Deulofeu.
For me it is not the fact that we did not sign Rose but having him at the training ground in the first place tells me that the club were not happy with our current options at left back, its been a downfall all season and we could have put this right in the summer as it was a problem we knew we had. We didn't have to sign Danny Rose for 25 million but we should have signed someone else, we are now relying on a 35 year old and a player who does not seem to be good enough for this level.
If femenia and Holebas start on Saturday, QSF has lost the plot. I would like to see foster and Doucoure dropped but it’s unlikely to happen
For the first time in 30 years of supporting Watford, I actually don’t care right now. Last weekend broke me. Maybe that will change come 3pm this weekend but right now, I don’t care. I’m expecting us to hand wolves their first win of this season, because that’s what we do. We are the club that breaks the chains of losing streaks for the opposition. We are a laughing stock, a joke, a constant meme and gif in today’s generation. Our players are spineless, no guts, no balls, no fight, no desire, no willingness and don’t give a crap about us fans. They took pre-season as a joke, thought they would easily stay up because it’s our fifth year in Prem and believed they would walk the Brighton game, through their own admission. We are a step behind everyone, unfit and lazy. Right now we deserve to go down and that makes me sick to my stomach.
