We rejected a loan bid with an offer to buy from a Turkish club. Maybe waiting to see if other defenders are going to arrive first? https://twitter.com/AdamLeventhal/status/1558105040484765696
Not convinced whether we’re better off keeping him or letting him go and inevitably not replacing him in any way! I’ve found him hard to become too fond of since he started getting into the ‘influencer’ world with Foster, and the last minute penalty incident away at Brentford which caused me a lot of frustration considering the sheer stupidity of going to ground how he did in that scenario. I would wish him well, but would stop at that before saying thanks for the memories!
Part of the record breaking Championship defence from all of 2 years ago. Might be bad in the Prem but would require a better replacement or why sell?
Carried by Sierralta and the rest of the defence. Frequently did his best to sabotage that record. I'll never forget the Reading game at home where in about 5 minutes he shanked three simple passes straight to their forwards to run onto and through on goal.
He was pretty crap that season, constantly turning over possession in dangerous areas, Champo strikers just couldn't punish us
I know everyone loves to give WTE a hard time, but he’s a good lad. I like him. A Watford supporter and was instrumental in getting everyone together during our last promotion campaign. Ok, his biggest strength is probably not during match time. Off the pitch he’s a leader and that’s important. A football club runs throughout the week. We only see them for 90 minutes. On the pitch he’s actually a good “defender”. He’s a blocker. Throws his body in the line. What let’s him down is his distribution. Even at Championship level you’re going to get pressed by opponents, and he’s weak when he has to play the ball quickly. As a backup solution, I have no problem with him and he’s an asset to the club as a person.
Well this is my day ruined! Absolutely shocking decision to reject it. We should have been trying to cover up our laughter as they signed on the dotted line to take him. So so bad. Transfer window a firm F- now.
WTE is 28. Kabs is 31. Cathcart 33. Not against selling him per se but surely he's only worth selling if we have some other cover coming in?
Ridiculous over the top reactions. He's fine in the Championship and actually started ok in the Premier League last season until a couple of high profile errors shattered his confidence. Thought him and Sierralta brought the best out of each other as a partnership a couple of years ago.
Absolutely awful with the ball at his feet and I won’t lie - I don’t like watching him play. But outside of that he’s a thoroughly decent bloke who has only ever spoken well of the club and has been a model pro as a representative. It makes me squirm a bit when he’s talked about the way he is. That said, I think if he wasn’t HG, he’d be out the door. And I still don’t see a discernible difference between him and Kabasele in terms of ability.
Well not really, just a loan with an option to buy rather than an obligation to buy. Still think he's better than Kabasele, although I highly highly doubt anyone will come in for Kabasele
The biggest difference between WTF and Kabba is that Kabba commits the occasional astronomical brainfart whereas WTF regularly tries to provide assists to the opposition.
Still wanted in Turkey apparently. Not sure if it's for a club or a court appearance! Watch this space.
If we do shift predominantly to a back 4, then I think he'll go as 6 CBs for 2 spots is more than enough and he seems a clear #5 in the pecking order, though if we are to play 3 at the back he'll probably stay
Was there any truth to the reports that he was wanted on loan by a Turkish team? If this is another loan offer, I'd turn it down and probably loan Pollock out, if it's a permanent offer I'd take the money
Just got to hope Di Marzio is right. All the “credible” ITK’s this summer have had a mare multiple times.
Member of a record breaking defence, Nigerian Captain or former. What's not to like? Apart from him being below average in everything he tries. We've always got Gaspar who can slip in .
