I like a moan on here but a fit front 3 of Sarr, GD and Deeney, and our current midfield, is good enough to beat the clubs around us at the very least.

As long as we don’t get a long term Sarr, Doucoure or Capoue injury, I reckon we’ll scrape home.

I also think that Cleverley will make an impact.

His energy, experience and mental strength will be vital when we’re up against it.

I believe we’ll have some unexpected results eg at Old Trafford and stay up.
Sarr must stay fit though, and the series of brain farts by defendas must now have ended. They’ve all had their turn.

We have the best team in the relegation battle and we don't have Quique any more. Sarr should be back and I'm going to go with...

    Yes. We will stay up.

We've taken the lead in every game since Pearson joined apart from Liverpool and a Troy penalty miss against Spurs. Just need to see a few of them through.

  6. Voted no.

No battle. Get into winning positions and throw it away with negative tactics. Mentally I think we don't have it after the initial "bounce".

Team doesn't have the bottle to see out 90 minutes. Manager doesn't make the right subs at the right time. Tactics are all wrong when we should be managing games out.

And this is against the poorer teams in the division. No Chance against better more organised teams.

Can't see where 5 wins will come from. Can't see where 3 will. Still 2 teams with games in hand. We could be 4 points from safety after the weekend.

...which roughly equates with what this polls says ie 50/50 ish.

I think the fact that the other candidates are on worse form than we are will see us over the line.

Palace on a terrible run so they may get dragged into it.

They might, but they have 30 points already and given our forthcoming fixtures, we probably won't reach that milestone until the beginning of April...........

I expect we are going to need a win or two against one of the big boys. Knowing this current Watford team that I love & hate in equal measure, I have calculated we will be the ones to put Liverpool to the sword.

To reach 40 points we need 4 wins + 4 draws or 5 wins and 1 draw.

I think we only have 6 games left we realistically could win. Anyone backing us to win 4/6 of those is a hell of a lot more positive than I am.

... Or 2 wins and 10 draws gets us to 40. Any game we’ve lost under Pearson has been in the last minute or even injury time. Very fine margins indeed, so the above isn’t as absurd as it sounds.

Football doesn’t work out like that - did anyone predict Burnley would get back-to-back wins against Leicester and Man Utd away after the terrible run they went on? And we will have a stronger team than the one we have had for the last three games.

  14. Carpster

Sarr is the key. His pace alone causes so many problems for the opposition. So fingers crossed hes back for atleast the last ten.
Looking back from the Tottenham game I believe we had run out of steam, the amount of effort the team had put in just to get back into contention surely has paid the price. Hopefully the rest will have done them some good. A surprise result from either of the next two will give some much needed confidence back. It would be so typically Watford to go and do something like that.
But I do believe we will just about scrape through by the skin of out teeth if we can get through without some injuries to our big hitters.

Obviously we need to win a few of the remaining games and hope other sides **** up big style.

    The West Ham game in May looks like it'll be a must win;

We'll be absolutely fine, and we'll start next season with a completely new look side, apart from Troy of course.

Gino will have a good clear out. Scott and Filippo can already picture the tomato skins sliding down the porcelain.

Crazy thugh that sounds they only beat Norwich 1-0 and that by a fairly late goal.

    Massive result that.

The results over the last two weekends for once have been kind to us with us actually gaining ground on most of our rivals, if this combined with Sarr (and hopefully Kiko) coming back doesn’t give us the confidence to get our arses into gear and resume our push for survival with renewed vigour, then nothing will.

Nope. Staying up is absolutely achievable but our players sadly lack work ethic and guts. We will go down.

Is that why we’re only two injury-time goals (one of which was scored by a player who shouldn’t even have been on the pitch, the other occurring after the ref should’ve blown for half time) from being unbeaten in two months?

So we aren't unbeaten in two months then. Instead we are throwing away leads, scoring own goals and creating very little the other end.

If the PL find against Man City and kick them down to L2 it may only be 19 and 20 down this season. Plus we should be awarded the FA Cup and an honorary place in next seasons Europa League.

Can’t believe we still have a chance of staying up , we should be dead and buried by now.

Sad thing is if we had beat 1 or more of Villa, Brighton, Everton we would be out of the relegation places (although still dodgy) and have our fate in our own hands

As it is , yes we can stay up but I suspect we will lose to Man U and Liverpool, find ourselves needing 4 or 5 points to catch the pack and then not quite manage to recover

on the bright side championship football is now broadcast a lot more than it was so should still be able to find the matches on the internet

  30. LondonOrn

I don't think there's been any previous top flight season where we would look dead and buried after 24 points from 26 games. In some seasons we'd even be out of the relegation zone.

True we've been a bit lucky with results in the last fortnight, but then we were unlucky with our relegation rivals taking unexpected points from the big teams earlier on, so it seems to be evening out towards the end.

I'll be hugely disappointed if West Ham stay up on goal difference as per this table. I'm hoping an angry Man City and then Liverpool smash them in the next week.

I would say there is a decent chance goal difference will be a deciding factor this season.
