The thing is it's anybody's guess. You can be in the blind faith school of thought: 'I just think we will....'. You can look at all the stats and 'calculate'. You can watch them and use your judgement of how good/bad you think they look. You can mix all this up. A pretty safe prediction is 'it will be close'.
At Brighton I left at the end full of gloom; the second half was a clueless performance - just about as bad as I've seen them play this season; and that's saying something. But over this last fortnight we have actually gained a point on most of our rivals (not Burnley, who are probably safe anyway, nor Brighton, obviously).
It's worth remembering that all the other teams at the bottom are playing badly in some way or other.
I do think that those on here who reckon our team lacks mental strength (and probably physical, too) are on to something - and that may be the factor that sends us down. I'm certainly not going to bet on it - aka giving money to the wrong people.

Last chance to make some money, in a desperate attempt to profit from your own suffering peeps. The odds won't be this good again!

Amazingly, once again results have gone for us so that means assuming West Ham don't win at Liverpool on Monday, at worst we'll be three points adrift going into the Palace game. I think most of us thought and dreaded that at least one of Villa and Bournemouth would get at least a point playing against average-at-best sides, them being both easily beaten shows they're just as bad if not worse than us. Palace winning was one of the good results, meaning they won't be under such pressure to beat us.

West Ham and Muff are on awful form for a long time now with little sign of turning around.

I think mid 30s will be enough points to stay up this year.

In the 10 games since Pearson took over we have scored 15 points from 10 games, putting us 6th in the table for that period.

35pts will be enough for BHA as our GD is superior than those below us. Been a great weekend for us.

Any chance of a pat on the back ?

The result today and next week will not decide our fate, but the way we played in the 2nd half at Brighton and after the first goal today are worrying. Our 3 home games in April will really tell us our likely fate.

Norwich are as bad as we are overall If either of us stay up it might be a football miracle.

Yep, that's just about it. But if you don't do something about your attacking options you'll be fighting relegation battles again next season.

Would not have been too unhappy with a defeat today, but 3-0 is not good :(

I'm sure this is exactly what you wanted, but, regardless, kindly f.uck off.

I have transgressed the 3 stages of hatred for this team.

Stage 1 was hoping we stay up.
Stage 2 was hoping we get relegated
Stage 3 is hoping we scrape survival somehow (unlikely) but them, during the summer, we sell Sarr, extend Pereyra's contract and start next season in exactly the same sort of shape as this year, with Success and Peneranda on the bench and Mariappa under a new 5 year contract. Gomes extends for another year and Foster grins his way to another season of not giving a toss.

My bigger concern is that even if we stay up are we not just delaying the inevitable, if we don't go down this season I could see us going down rock-bottom next, especially if players like Docuoure & Delefou finally get fed up and jump ship over the Summer.

Depends if Pozzo and Giraldi are humble and learn lessons. As you say the smart money is that they won’t due to their arrogance.

Even if they have, their hands may be tied by their own mistakes, far too many under performing and injury prone players that are on medium to long term contracts on salaries they wouldn't get elsewhere. Even if we manage to loan some of them out we'll probably be paying a hefty wedge of their salary. We've also got to hope that whoever they get in over the Summer hit the ground running and are up to scratch, considering we've had so many hit and miss transfers it seems unlikely that more than 1 or 2 replacement will be of any worth.

Unless there's some hefty investment coming in from an external source I think it's unlikely that we'll be able to make the changes required to avoid another season like this.

One route to (possible) refresh would be to sell Doucoure/Deeney/Peryra. Bring in new blood at the back and put faith in some of the younger players out on loan up front to step up I suppose. I agree we still have the Gray/Success/Dawson problems though. And Cathcart is beginning to fall in that category.

My fear is they sell the above star players and just buy a bunch more wingers and midfielders to continue their failing model.

You don't honestly think any of the three striker we have scoring for fun in Spain are going to rock up in the Championship?

Baffling that there was no place for Cucho in the squad now. Maybe it was 'work permit' issues and all that Giraldi excuse crap. Whilst we have a group of strikers so bad, only one plays when we are desperate for results.

Doubt it. This is assuming we escape by the skin of teeth on 36 points or something!

The model comes first. Highly rated player who people want on loan? Send him out.

Dross that nobody wants (Success/Peneranda)? Put them in the premier league squad.

When it comes to strikers our squad is a parking bay for failed purchases on long contracts who do not play. Meanwhile Deeney can be ineffectual with no pressure on his place.

    An utter shambles.

Cucho was injured from the start this season wasn't he?

He was. But the point remains. If we are unable to find a home for our poor strikers they get unveiled as if they are a fantastic new signing!

In hindsight this summer would have been a perfect time to try and integrate Cucho, and would have made more sense than giving honorary places in the team to Success and Penaranda. It's not like they're particularly bothered about how they even develop at this point, if the embarrassing and abortive loan to an average team in the Belgian league for Penny-boy is anything to go by. It'd be a harder sell to him now even if we do survive, and if we don't we'll never see him play for us. It'll make a total mockery of my flair on the Watford subreddit, for one thing. Devastating.

    This is Watford FC.

No charts, bar graphs, Fibonaci sequences or candlesticks can or will predict anything from here.

It's a v.fragile situation & is just a case of when/if Sarr will get injured now that Del is finished. Sarr injects a belief across the whole squad that is unmatched.

However, he will be the number 1 marked man in the coming weeks & I hate to predict Sarr will get injured through a bad tackle or over exhaustion in the next 3-5 games.

I therefore predict Gray gets parachuted into attack, as the last hope & then proceeds to start banging them in with Deeney to our safety.

Something tells me the trials & tribulations are far from over & also there is still the possibility of a nice twist. Could turn out to be all positive in the end going into 20/21 season with Pearson at the helm, in the PL.

Who can honestly say they ever really want to watch a season of Championship football again, after the magic of days like yesterday. Watford are currently plastered over all the international sports newspapers/back pages across the world. Can wear our Watford shirts with pride this summer & you will be getting thumbs ups all over the place.
