Will Aidy be sacked today?

Judging by Graham Simpsons comments on 606 regarding Aidy being Eltons only contact at the club and his apparent unhappiness at the comments made, am I the only one thinking Aidy will be sacked today?

Ok so the lack of Aidy's email isnt anything particularly strange but it's got me thinking that Simpson might just view this whole episode as gross negligence and dismiss our manager with immediate effect.

What do you guys think?

 

I doubt it. Aidy will be here in the morning.

If AB is the source and has been leaking all this info out of the club then i'll buy his train ticket back up north myself.

 

I would salute him because if it is all true then at least he is trying to let people know that there is something seriously wrong at the club!!

I don't think that GS would sack Aidy but he would be severely reprimanded if he was found to be leaking info to SEJ.

If any senior employment contract is written correctly there will be a termination clause in the event of gross misconduct, criminal acts, moral turpitude etc. I would consider leaking information that could affect share values to come under the heading of gross misconduct. The point here is that the contract could normally be terminated immediately with no compensation necessary. So the argument that says we can't afford to let anyone go because of the cost would not apply.

As for SEJ's outburst I don't think it is any more than the frustration of a disappointed fan. Even if Elton took over do you really think he would pile tens of millions into the club on his own and if he was heading up a consortium surely there are more attractive propositions in the Football League?

So SEJ has challenged Simpson and the other directors. As fans let's challenge Elton - come back and save the club and we will give you unwavering support and I for one would pledge money or buy a 5 year season ticket for me and the kids. Also, I am sure that every WFC supporting member of this Forum and others would volunteer to raise funds from other fans etc.

ADMIN - how about starting a petition to SEJ - save our club.

could simpson prove it was aidy? if not there isnt a case - knowing the way this club likes lawsuits would aidy sue simpson for saying this?

 

Like I said in another thread, if you think Aidy is the only person EJ speaks to at the club then your mistaken. What scares me is that GS said that.

If this happened the club would be in free fall.
GS and his cronies need sacking first.

 

I suppose the Russo's or Elton would think twice about paying up for the follies of the current board, even if they were able to scrutinise the accounts.

 

If it does come out that Aidy had spoken to SEJ then i think the club would have grounds to sack him. But can the club afford to sack him, i think not. severe reprimand is on the cards here.

To me it's obvious that he's not the only person SEJ keeps in contact with at the club, I'm sure he has old friends etc also within the club.

The interesting thing is that this is nothing that hasn't been queried before if you read his statement again. It's just what we've been asking and wondering for a while and since it's someone a bit more high profile (sorry guys ) it's caused more of a stir.

I eagerly await the clubs response. I too like Admin think everything doesn't quite add up.

 

I don't buy it, it seriously undermines the whole club if AB were leaking info out and he'd be incredibly unprofessional in doing so. Do you really want a manger who is an untrustworthy git willing to leak info which makes the board look bad and ultimately takes any light off HIS financial blundering. No thanks.

As mentioned in the Elton thread, finances will become clear when the accounts are released in the near future as we're a PLC. KingJames would have a heart attack if we weren't a PLC and no accounts were released.

 

I dont know anything about acounts or such things, but will they actually be released because the excuse the board gave to the WST was that they couldnt see the finances because we were in a period of "takeover" so no one could see the books. Will this not be used as an excuse again?

If the WST couldnt see the books due to this period of "takeover" then why arent we being TAKEN OVER?

The board has to release a financial statement every year at a certain time. That time for WFC PLC is in 6 weeks (so I understand from reading other people's posts).

 

Actually I dont give a **** if the accounts arent released. Common sense is good enough for me.

We made an £8mil profit last year

We've sold £6mil worth of players this year... MASSIVELY cut the wage bill... we're due some more money from Ash's sale AND we have a HUGE parachute payment (unlike the other 18 clubs in our league) so simple maths tells me we'll make a profit this year too

Common sense is telling me, Elton John, an increasing number of Watford fans in general, the media and anyone whos remotely interested (like mates of mine who say "hows comes you lot are skint?" that something is NOT RIGHT with our finances.

I'm not sure, but if Simpson can prove Aidy has breached his contract in not acting in the best interests of the club, I reckon they can sack him without a pay off. UAE?

 

The thing that bothers me most is that its incomprehensible that a team can be promoted and then a year and a half after leaving the premiership be in a worse position then before we went up. Not just in terms of the playing staff, but the ground (east stand closure - no sign of development), the finances, the crowds...everything! I just dont understand this...and its not just watford fans questioning this...every single one of my friends cant understand how any club can be in that position. Its not as if we went for broke in the year in the prem either.

 

Hows it Aidys financial blundering? Granted Aidy didnt spend the money wisely, but he wasnt privy to the clubs accounts. It was the board that decided what amount of our finances could be spent on transfer fees and it was ashton that negotiaited the deals/player salaries. It was the board that thought it would be alright to spend 3mil on a striker when we already had 5 other first team players in that position.

As for leaking information to make the board look bad? I doubt Aidy would do that - ashtons his old mate and it was simpson who gave him his chance in management. Not that the board need any help looking bad anyways...

 

Misconduct/breach of trust would potentially apply, yes. Depends what his contract says. Though given everyone on settlement gets gagged by the club I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's all tied up to suit the club.

This sort of thing only happens to clubs who go mad and ***** £20million or something stupid only to go down.

We've had so much come in from player sales AND selling some land for flats that its all effectively PAID for wage increases as a result of promotion.

Which would then bring us nicely to all that TV money and the parachute payments you get in the Premiership. Wheres it all gone? (i am really going to have to stop saying that, i am starting to pish myself off)

 

Good post. The questions are so obvious that it seems the majority of fans are embarassed to ask! The depletion of the playing squad would almost be forgivable if we were looking forward to a solid future with a much improved ground, with new revenue streams.

 

The boards aims for the club was a solid future - watford would be self sufficent and financially stable. Simpson even said that the mistakes of the ****** era wouldnt be repeated. Those aims have gone well and truley out the window. The board certainly shouldnt have pushed forward with the redevelopment if they knew the club was already operating at a budget that wasnt financially sustainable.

 

I still get angry as I recall smug claims about how the development of the hospital campus would leave Watford with a 365 day income. How, pray tell? We've sold of part of the ground which may have been used in future redevelopment, but have nothing to show for it.
