Possibly, I do recall chatting to a Watford fan is the Half Moon about 18 months or so ago. We had a decent chat about Watford. I think I recall him saying that his dad lived in Hitchin but he lived in Welwyn Garden. I don't recall mentioning Watford forums but may have done after my sixth pint of Becks.

    Was it you?

Indeed, you were a little worse for wear. How are you doing?

I'm ok, not been in there for ages as I haven't been over to Hitchin for a while but if you do see me in there in the future say hello. I thought it was Coventry away and we'd lost 2-0 but I can't be sure.

I was at primary school and they had a scheme called 'Kickback', where I believe we got discounted/free tickets.

As a youngster I was a Man Utd 'fan' (although I've always had a soft spot for Everton - first team I remember seeing on TV) because my dad is a big supporter and used to follow them around the country when he was a lad. However, as soon as I went to my first Watford game I was hooked.

It was York City at home. I think we won 2-1 or 2-0, and Tommy Mooney scored. My main memory is sitting in the first row of the rookery and being so short I couldn't see over the hoardings and get a full view of the pitch, so having to move back a few rows.

Wouldn't support any other club for all of the tea in china.

Formative years spent in Harefield (just across the road and along abit from the Academy on Northwood Road) so Watford was the local club. Simple as that. Saw my first game aged nine back in 1967. Saw a few games each season during school years but had to work Saturdays during college years. Then became a season ticket holder during the rise up the leagues. Then got married, moved away (Bletchely) then kids - couldn't come so often. Then spent two years in the Netherlands (1998-2000). Missed the promotion season and the Premiership but did manage to see the Play off final against Bolton in between). Returned to Buckinghamshire in 2000 - been a season ticket holder for the last six -seven years (ie once the kids were old enough not need me around on Saturdays, and the wife watching Saturday afternoon movies on TV).

There is nothing like supporting your local club and gaining pleasure from seeing it do well no matter where you are in the world or whatever one is doing - whether you can come to games or not. Many fans of the so called "big" clubs are all glory hunters anyway. Renewed ST two weeks ago. COYH!

My old man was an Arsenal supporter and took me to my first game at Highbury in 1972. They beat Southampton 1-0. I remember walking down the stairs in the big stands they had then and going in the club shop. Anyway, he decided to take me to Watford because it was nearer. Can't remember my first game but it was during the 72/73 season. Never looked back. Both me and my sister worked at the club for a while. Luther, Ray Train, Ian Bolton and the boys from the early GT years used to pop round our house all the time.
It was just great being part of a family club and I have followed them both home and away in good times and bad over the past 20 plus years until I moved out her to Oz in 2005. It's great to keep in touch via these forums and the shout box on a match day/night.

i supported watford for many many years from 1972 becuase of the chinky take away in occupation road - the very bestest panckae rolls ( the grease oozes out of them) and spare ribs in bbq sauce) you could get at affordable prices. Was great strutting back to the 142 bus stop after yet another defeat dunking chips into the bbq sauce and burning me fingers and dropping the ribs and picking em up and blowing the s.hit off em to eagerly bust a gum on the bones...best ever time to support da wfc, was gutted losing to walsall 2-3 at home to be relegated to the old div 4 but the good old faithful reliable ever present chinky eased that woe as i m.unched again on their fine fodder wondering if the ribs would taste as good in division 4 - yes they did.

Still tasted the same three years ago... apart from that can't find any other reason to support wfc - now vegan it's up the O's....
