Why Would You Want Dyche?

I've started to see a worrying number (more than 0) of people saying they wouldn't mind Dyche getting the job. Why? Why would you possibly want him to get the job?

This isn't a season where we can afford an untried, completely inexperienced manager to work with our already inexperienced (though talented) squad. We need a tried and tested, experienced manager to get the best out of the squad we have.

    NOT Dyche!

I wouldn't mind Dyche as continuity is a good thing when you have the prospect of most of the matchday squad having been here for a number of years either through the academy or otherwise.

There isn't a single manager we could hire with experience handling a squad with only what, 8 non-academy players?

So far Boothroyd, Rodgers and Malky - all untired managers - have kept us up and done well.

Dyche would be fine with me, if the board decided that he had the required management skill which of course I have no idea about.

I agree with this to be honest with you. Perhaps the time has come for the club to try something different and bring in someone with league experience like Di Matteo, if he turns out to be shyte then perhaps Bas with have more bollox than the previous boards to get rid of him sooner rather than later.

I don't get why people are so opposed to Dyche.

Rodgers was inexperienced; he did the job (until he *****ed off after five minutes)

Malky was inexperienced; he did the job (until he *****ed off after six years)

Indeed, there is not much difference between Dyche and Malky from where I'm sitting. People just seem very against him without having good reason for being so. I say give him a chance; there's obviously not much else to choose from.

well there would be the continuity -is an important factor, having ben around the new crop of youngsters coming through.

what makes you think a new manager would get the best out of the squad -the players will only be as good as they actually are -SD has worked with them for a long time now -there's your experience -qualifications are a different subject.,and knows their strengths and weakness..

i don't care who the manager is because one thing is for certain - he'll be called a useless canut by the end of septmeber by enough scum canuts who suppossedly love and support their club..

dont really think you can include his time before he became Manager

But maybe a change for a more experienced manager would be for the better - yes Malky did a good job, but is he the most tactically astute manager? I don't think so - we always seem to have difficulties putting together a decent run of results, so will experience change that? Possibly or possibly not, but what is the harm in trying something different?

I believe that Malky's tactical nous was poor in his first season but in his second he improved greatly and made a couple of great subs and changes to the team as well as the odd mistake which is to be expected.

Unable to put together a decent run of results? Have you forgotten our record breaking run in December/January?

  10. His Royal Hornet

His Royal Hornet Top Quality Banter

Yes the run through Dec/Jan may have been a good run, but that success was based on having a solid grounding, having a regular line up.

You would have to ask that would having a bigger name manager mean that we were more likely to attract and keep hold of loan signings, rather than losing two key players like we did in Andrew Taylor and Jordon Mutch.

I would have to disagree with the 'great subs and changes to the team'. Far too often when we needed to make a change, Malky left it far too late for anything to happen in games.

We don't know yet whether Malky is going to take Dyche with him to Cardiff. If he doesn't could that mean Malky doesn't really rate him?

Or he thinks Dyche has a real shot at the manager's job.

or maybe dyche doesn't really rate malky and thinks he can do better?

    1st he knows the player
2nd he knows how the club works
3rd he must of talk about the players the club are hoping to sign
    4th he is cheap
    5th i have got £10 on him at 8/1
i can see us signing KP and make him player coach

Why don't you offer Bas half the winnings? He might rig it for you.

Given the nature of the club, I think Sean is ideal. Obviously I don't think he should automatically get the job, and would like to think we'll interview external candidates-Tisdale at Exeter springs to mind-but someone who knows the club, has worked with our kids seems like a logical choice.

Completely agree, it's time for someone with a bit of experience of managing at this level, there's plenty of managers out there who are out of a job and thus wouldn't require any compensation.

Agreed. I don't think my nerves can take another unproven manager (yes I know Rodgers, Mackay and Aidy were) can we just have someone with at least some experience at this level?

Agree 100%. If people want continuity then try and keep Dyche in the 'set-up', but him as manager would be a ***** appointment that would show a massive lack of ambition.

Have you forgotten 4 wins out of our last 22. If he wasn't tactically inept in his second season, then why did we only manage 4 in 22, and why did he persist on playing Weimann ahead of our second top scorer (Sordell) every single week?

Tactically clueless, and I can't wait to see him trip up and fall on his fat Scotch face!

We had a squad good enough to push for the top six, but he bottled it by persisting on dropping Buckley and Sordell.

You go on about a purple patch before x-mas, what about the debacle at the end of the season? 'We'll give it everything in our last 8 games'...did we actually win any of our last 8!?

We were down to the bare bones by the run in, losing Jenkins to injury at Leeds was probably the last straw as we didn't have any central midfielders left unless you count Dishwater, I don't.

Oh come on mate. Just have a look at the squad that Malky had at his disposal last year. I don't think that most managers would have been able to keep our form going for the whole season. A small, inexperienced squad where fatigue was always going to set in. The state of the pitch, injuries and departures of Taylor and Mutch didn't exactly help either. The fact that we had to get the likes of Townsend and Drinkwater in on loan shows what a sorry state our squad was.

As for Sordell; he was not performing at all in the games before he was dropped to the bench. Due to the great season that he had people forget that this was his first full season at professional level. I would think less of Malky if he kept an underperforming young player still at an early stage of his development in the first team. He probably needed a good rest too. Young players need to be protected and I see Malky using Sordell sparingly towards the end of the season as an example of that and something which any manager would have done for the good of their own player.

Plenty of people slating Dyche on here, but what do any of you actually know about him other than he's a big ****er, ginger and has a beard? He was a great captain at Chesterfield, and was pretty pivotal for us at times and clearly has more balls than most footballers.

Malky always did the interviews, but that was almost certainly his choice. Just because he's not been thrust in the spotlight or was a hardnut doesn't equate to him being a **** manager.

Mind you there's been some spectacularly idiotic comments on all Watford forums this week.

Dyche might look thuggish but in fact he has a very quiet voice and said in the past he would want to be a manager.

I wouldn't want Sean Dyche. By all means keep him in the fold, but I'd like to see us buck the recent trend and go for a manager with some kind of experience. There's enough decent, experienced managers out of work I'd much rather we went for who actually have 'front line' experience.

I'm sure Dyche will get an interview if he wants one, unless he's going with Malky, but he'd really have to wow them to have a chance.

By tried and tested with experience do you mean managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, Harry Rednapp, Arsene Wenger or even Jose?
