...or the end of season collapse. That's going to be spectacular this season.

So less than 20% of us think we will stay up. Two things:
    - If this is even close to being representative of our fan base, Gino may as well bring someone else in now. QSF may as well be bolder with his team selection and preparations for next season need to start asap. Nothing to lose regarding expectations.
    - Our fans are pessimists and underestimate our squad, or the bookies overrate it (can still get 8/15 on us being relegated). Get money on it while you can.

(Am well aware that was more than two things).

Gino won't sack QSF because of a few knee jerkists. Plenty of games to go. We go again. It was 0-0 at HT yesterday.

If Everton put a reasonable bid in for Doucoure in Jan, I’d let him go. We could use the cash to start the rebuild. I’d like us to change the recruitment to buying up and coming British players who can hit the ground running in the Championship

Get Big Sam in, proven record of keeping clubs up. Sure he has a shady past but so do the Pozzos.

We really should of let Doucoure' go when that PSG talk hit the highest point. He was even quoted in saying he was interested (can't remember where I read it).
I believe the offer was for £30M? Just think we could of improved our defence with two new 15M signings or less, then spent the Sarr cash on a striker who could
    actually score a decent chance.

  7. Yay or nay is very definite.

I think we still have a chance of staying up. Of course we do.

We are only 3 points off of 17th. One win.

There is something bafflingly wrong with the team at the moment. Confidence? Organisation? Team spirit? Just some plain old luck?!

Yesterday we totally ran that game up until Burnley scored. We were well on top and should've been 2-0 up before they did. There are signs of a good team. It's in there somewhere.

Before yesterday a lot of people were saying they'd take 1 point at Burnley and a win at Southampton. So we are only one point off that so far.

I'm not really a happy clapper - just have a more positive outlook. I can see there is a strong chance of relegation obviously. But I also see the way we can play (both yesterday and throughout the season) and I know that good team is in there.

And as I said, we are only 3 points off relegation. Forget the magic final points mark. And just think all we need to do is keep up with those around us. Do that and there's a chance right up until the final week.

    So I'm a yaynay.

That's why I posed the question. Of course we have a chance of staying up, I was trying to guage the people's 'gut feeling' more than anything.

For the handful that believe we will, what do you base that on? Not being critical, if anything people could probably do with some hope

The only cause for hope is that there are about 6 poor teams in the league. The only way we can do it is sacking Flores which will be embarrassing and bringing in a left back and centre back in the window and hope Joao Pedro and Sarr take off. I can see a route to safety, but we need a few things to happen first. Drift as we are under the wretched Flores and we are down.

The Premier League seasons under GT and Aidy Boothroys, it was pretty much over by November - individually and as a team the players were clearly just not good enough. Yes, we had Ashley Young but he was sold in the January. This season it now feels exactly the same.

Aidy just had a bad run and was unlucky.

    I'd have him back tomorrow.

It’s now 20.9% so the post match negativity is fading and we are getting positive again..

We just need some rub of the green luck.
6 games, 6 first half injury subs.
We play OK but can’t score.
They score a breakaway/lucky set piece goal and the inevitability of ‘here we go again’ syndrome drops heads and expectations and we stutter to another defeat - it’s a pattern.

I know I’m stating the obvious but if Soton score first on Saturday, we’ll in all probability lose and then I really can’t see QSF surviving.
Win and imho all bets are off.
    Some confidence returns.
    Other teams will slump.
We have a good January window and refresh and revitalise.
    One game at a time.

I’m not a supporter of QSF and most of his game plans but I’m not giving up.
I’m supporting my team through this. It’s the only team I’ve got.
And don’t call me a happy clapper, I’m a supporter with hope.

Of course we need some luck. I'm just very doubtful as to whether QSF has the ability to capitalise on it. I don't think anyone will stop supporting the team, particularly on this forum. Agree that the first goal is everything at the moment!

It has been a weak squad for a few years now. As soon as the chips are down we get a plethora of injuries, 6 games on the bounce with a first half sub for injury is telling. The slightest twinge and they don't want to know and aren't prepared to play through pain.

But...this league is vastly overrated. One win in 12 should have us all alone at the bottom, but to be 3 points behind the team at fourth bottom is remarkable.

I'm not convinced QSF is the answer so I wouldn't be too upset if he goes, but that doesn't solve the issue of a pathetically weak squad. There is no doubt the recruitment was badly wrong in the summer. One injury dud, one average defender, and a kid who looks well out of his depth. There is no getting away how weak we are so I would be astonished if there aren't major changes in January to the head coach and the squad.

The Pozzo's aren't immune from criticism and they've not got it right recently, but I would back them to put it right in January.

I think we'll stay up with ease. QSF will get sacked at some point in December and we'll see some investment in the team in January.

Hands down worst decision the Pozzos have made.

Lots of ideas on here, some of them good, some of them, er… not so good.
But the thing is any action has to be possible, not just a good idea.
Replacing QSF? Who is available? Which of them would want to come here? Maybe that's the problem Gino found before he brought him in.
Ditto good players to add to the squad in Jan.
Plus all of this costs money. It would be better to get relegated than to go bankrupt. I'm glad I'm not a Portsmouth/Bolton/Bury/Notts County/etc supporter. Live to fight another day, I say.
Bouncing back from The Championship would prove to be difficult - and far from a fore-gone conclusion, but it's a preferable alternative to bankruptcy.
Of course, the Pozzos may well jump ship if we are relegated - who knows? Probably they wouldn't, but....
Football history is littered with stories of owners who have thrown money at their problems and got nothing in return.
Like a lot of us, I've got my fingers crossed we don't go down and I've far from given up hope; but I'm also gritting my teeth.
