I think today was vital to, at least, not lose. The manner of the defeat was, frankly, soul-destroying.

This question is not whether we 'can' stay up. As the fat lady won't be singing for a few months yet. It is whether you think we 'will' stay-up.

No. Will we probably at best get a point at Southampton next Weekend, Leicester will rip us to shreds, Palace will beat us and Liverpool will destroy us. Anything we get after that run will be a bonus. If we are even within touching
distance of safety come the New Year it will be a total miracle. No manager can get a side so low on confidence and ability out of this mess. Especially in the toughest league in the world. Time to get ready for the Championship.

I'm glad some fans look at away games as more than a 'day out' at a 'big' club's stadium.

At least we can cause an upset being a Championship Club again. Remember going to Sunderland in the F.A Cup that year and beating them? Talk of the media for a week.

I would rather us play decent football in a league below than watch us struggle with a bunch of no hopers who cannot play together as a unit and losing doesn't matter. One added
bonus though, We will have one of the best pitches in that league! YAY.

I don’t think we will but I think we still have a chance. Here’s what I think needs to happen.

    1. Sack Flores immediately and admit it was a mistake - the problem is to appoint another new manger does not bode well as the players have to learn a new system and its hard for them to respect and buy into a 3rd manager if they don’t think they will be around long. We would be a laughing stock for manager turnaround but we’re a laughing stock anyway so we might as well go the whole way.

    2. New manager - I don’t think we will attract a good quality or up and coming manager at the moment and there is no point in appointing a journey man solid manager as I don’t think the players will buy into another plodder. I still think we have some good players but they are bereft of confidence and screwed by the defensive system. I think we have to take a risk and get someone with charisma who is a quality ex recent player that the squad would incidentally respect and be excited about. It almost doesn’t matter if they have good management credentials and if they did we wouldn’t be able to attract them. Someone like Thierry Henry who might be tempted by the premier league or any high profile ex player who might bring a bit of excitement and instant feel good factor. It’s a long shot but we’ve nothing to lose and if it fails we can still try and get a new up and coming manager and “go again” in the championship.

it’s not entirely clear who you are referring to as happy clappers but no doubt it is true that there are some people who are happy and like to clap and believe. Still, even if they are happy clappers who believe at least they’re not a know it all with a penchant for smug one liners.

Right now, as things stand, there is no possibility we will stay up. No chance under Flores. It's a shame as I think he's on to something with the formation in the away games, but he's just being ridiculous with this overly defensive formation at home, and it's screwing us up big time.

Home is where we have to pick up the majority of points. We've played Brighton, Burnley, Sheff Utd, West Ham and Bournemouth at home this season. All are beatable, yet we've won none of them and picked up a pathetic 2 points against them. This is why we are going to be relegated.

Under Flores we are far too timid and gutless and the home form will not be reversed while we play in this way.

The only way out of this now is to go gung-ho. We need a coach who will throw caution to the wind. We have nothing else to lose. If we don't it's over anyway for us.

I'm not overly sure what category someone who suggests that Thierry Henry would be the answer to our problems would be put in.

    Arsenal fan?

They don't exist. I've told you this. Do try and keep up. However, crushing bores, self-evidently, do.

  21. Change as many managers as you like, it won't fix the sh1t decisions made over the last 3 seasons and our garbage choice in centre backs and strikers

Voted no. I've been thinking we would be relegated for a couple of months now. We do of course still have a chance but with a squad devoid of confidence and with an inability to score goals, create many chances in a game and keep clean sheets it is very hard to see where we can pick up enough points to stay up. Returned to the foot of the table today and looking inept, we are going down without much of a fight I'm afraid.

We have 25 games left to play, we need 32 points from those games ideally to get to the magic 40.

That means we should be aiming for 9-10 wins.

Out of the 25 games, there are 10 red games which I class as "a very probable loss".

8 games in green which I think are very winnable and we need a good point in one or two of the oranges.

I know football is not a perfect science at all but it's very possible to still stay up.

Will it happen under QSF? Not a chance in hell.

Even though we expect to lose to Leicester, those first three games are about as winnable as you can expect to get. Apparently. As was today’s.

Of course you’re not overly sure. For the record, I said someone like Thierry Henry and there was a wider context behind my comment which you’ve chosen to ignore which is not surprising given your particular style of posting on this forum.

Anyway I’ll try to cease from a protracted exchange with you as it is unlikely to lead to increased mutual respect. You may incorrectly think of me as an Arsenal fan if you wish and hopefully this fallacy will bring you some small happiness in reinforcing your sense of superiority.

Don't bother mate. The bloke's been posted missing since his excellent intro re. Brighton first up. It beats me how somebody can be so witty, engaged and dry and then revert to being a 'nasty stirer' so easily. Hey-ho ...

You've already, correctly pointed out that the win ratio needed to stay up from this position is utterly unachievable. It would be a Rocky Balboaesque recovery to stay up this season with this squad.

Thing is, at least Norwich will go down with a memory of beating Man City. We are looking at 2 or 3 attritional victories over other **** teams on an off day to give us our total of points in the high teens.

Indeed. Although I struggle to see how Gino would entice a decent enough coach. This is why I assume it'll end up being someone young and relatively unproven.

  34. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

Sadly, you are correct. From what I've seen this season, there are improvements to be made, but ultimately, this turd of a squad will never be sufficiently polished to get 8-9 wins out of the remaining matches.
