Can see the time difference being an issue with this suggestion, unless they play all the games in the middle of the night over there to fit in with prime time UK television.

Surely New Zealand or South Korea would be better :D

Good thinking middle of the night would be good, as that would make it even less likely of cross contamination as there would be even less people about :D

It's hardly splitting hairs for people to point out that you've put up a graph excluding Spain and Italy to back up your point about UK having worst per capita deaths in the world. Irrespective of differences in measurement, excluding heavily hit countries is obviously a complete nonsense.

  5. And you think NZ would welcome an influx from one of the worst countries in the world?

  6. GoingDown

Why? I thought you'd said it's nothing out of the ordinary in this country. You been out yet?

Presumably for somewhere like Oz or NZ they’d just all have to quarantine for two weeks, which would make it an even bigger farce.

They could have an escape to victory type thing going on? The Premier League All Stars XI get together to play the guards while the others escape to play out the season.

That was the whole point of me putting it up there like that. To show how statistics can be manipulated.

Now, whether we have the worst death rate in the world or nearly the worst death rate in the world, again my original discussion on football was that the season should be voided.

i think the season should be voided as well. But removing Spain and France from a graph isn’t manipulating statistics. It’s just deliberately being dishonest (not aimed at you). But anyway we agree on the season.

There's plenty of fans that want football to return, perhaps not on here because of the type of person that posts, but there's certainly a market for it, just look at social media.

I think they want to just watch something on telly - probably depends on who support !

I mean it won't bring back good morale if your team losses ..

Are they the type of people who have accounts like LFCGaz and have a picture of Salah as their profile picture by chance?

More or less every voice I’ve seen supporting coming back and playing has an affiliation with a club who have something to gain from all this.
And dare I say, fans thoughts are irrelevant in this. If clubs and their players can be convinced to play, it’ll happen.

The voices that should be listened to loudest are the players. And I’m yet to see a rush of players saying it must be played. Those who are speaking out, sound more than sceptical to me.

I see we are already being labelled ‘The Rebels’ by some tabloids as being part of the bottom 6 opposing ‘Project Restart’. It’s just lazy journalism. And rarely mentions there are at least 4 other clubs with the same objections - but it doesn’t fit the narrative of clubs just objecting because of relegation fears.

The objections are multi-faceted but of course one of the reasons is relegation on an unlevel playing field. Every club should be acting in their own interests but to claim it’s purely due to relegation fears and nothing else is horrendously disingenuous.

What’s more - not surprised one bit yesterday to see Carragher latching on to the story and criticising the bottom 6 without mentioning the other 4 clubs. That’s half the league - if half the league don’t want to play, people need to wake up to that fact. Carragher claimed that the bottom 6 have said they will play if relegation is taken off the table and he says this proves it’s not about safety or health fears...where has one club said this? I can’t find it.

The PL supposedly want to use the Amex as their key ground under the proposals due to it being nowhere near residential areas. Why do they think Brighton will agree to that? It’s already being used as a large testing area in the South for the virus...but sure, kick all that out so we can play football during a pandemic. Thoroughly embarrassing.

Have we said anything in public about wanting to cancel the season rather than just wait will it's safe to do so like Scott Duxbury said ?

Dean Smith was quoted as saying he'd be happy for the season to end.

Seems to me only Brighton and West Ham have come out strongly with their views.

We should add a poll to this, do you want the season to be voided or not.

I think it's pretty clear that the 'big' clubs with a vested interest in it starting again (liverpool, United etc.) are relentless briefing the media that the bottom 6 are the reason football won't start again. The thing that's surprised me is how pretty much the whole media are lapping it up and not taking into consideration the very valid points that people like Brighton's CEO have made

It's the next stage of the process to cancellation. Find someone to blame for the cancellation of the season that will absolve the PL, the Government etc.

In this case, it's the evil 'bottom 6' that will cause it as they refuse to be relegated playing at empty neutral grounds. Add in Arsenal and another CL qualifying side who want a reset and it's over. Arsenal and Spurs have no wish for the season to finish but won't be blamed as they are massive clubs.

I noticed on SSN that Vicarage Road won't be used due to the risk of home fans congregating outside.

    Have they met our fans?

What are you talking about ? We congregate twice each match for about 30mins before and after the game in Occupation Rd. I have to be honest and say I've only seen that camaraderie before and after home games but I'm pretty certain it's a weekly event, home or away, win or lose.

The fact that gate receipts and match day income makes up about 5% of our total income (from https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52529679 ) so clubs like us, Muff and Burnley would be affected the least by playing without fans. The big clubs have a lot to lose.

  22. a19tgg

Or even just the fact that for some strange reason the Premier League seem to be just about the only organisation desperately trying to resume their operation, while pretty much every other sporting event, music event, festival etc has been cancelled.

It's true most of the bigger clubs will the season to carry on.

I think the media are listening to why West Ham and Brighton want the season to end and then dumping us all in together even though no one else has said anything.

If we manage to avoid relegation which I still think is a big if what seems likely it will all be behind closed doors I think we would be relatively more competitive as we don't rely too much on gate receipts

Now apparently someone on Twitter says the vote will be:

Neutral grounds or void the season and use PPG.

It was a reporter form the Mail.

Only person I've seen mention on it Twitter is that bloke who owed Deeney money when he went over to watch them train in Austria.

Think we mentioned fans who don't have much else but football earlier.

How would that work though? This is starting to sound like Brexit. Whatever they want to do needs the 14 votes to do it, so how do they structure this vote.

By the way I think it would be grossly unfair to use the PPG to decide the season. As funny as it might be if Bournemouth went down by virtue of one goal scored or whatever it is, it would be an absolute travesty to actually do it.

You mean the guy that tweets so much nonsense and has his twitter set so his tweets delete themselves after 24hrs (he generally set deletes them quicker than that) - yeah, he’s a bit special. Always making out that he has a ear inside things.

Same as that LKenz guy on Twitter. Both blaring out opinions as fact.

Can’t see why they are so desperate to have ‘final’ standings. Voiding it should be exactly that - as if it never happened.
