I think all 294 of us going tonight should be rewarded with free beer and the best seats in the house when we get to the final. City resting players ahead of Villa so we should slaughter them with the likes of Hughes, Deeney and Capoue etc.
I had hoped we'd really go for it in the League Cup this year but now wonder if we might be better off focussing on getting one of the Champions League places
I will be there tonight, this is the biggest game of the season for me. I love League Cup 2nd Round day, it's like Christmas. Like I said earlier, the chance to rekindle a rivalry from 1998 was too hard to pass up.
Every year I go to the first (Second) round of the whatever its called Cup and regret it about 3 minutes into the first half. Please let tonight be different.
Just so! I remember telling myself not to go next season as we lost to Gillingham. See you all tonight!
Are the 1881 going to sing anything about the insult to the fans which is the timing of the draw for the next round? Maybe Carabao will want us to play one round in Asia if we let them get away with this without protest.
I think they'll be singing songs at Mark Ashton, assuming he's going and can climb over the ringfence he built.
I've heard that from Round 3 onwards each team has to incorporate a ladyboy into the team in each round. Then the final is just played with a ping-pong ball... If you know, you know.
It's for that reason that I haven't been to a league cup home match since we beat Muff in August 2013. I will be going tonight though.
This'll be their biggest game for years to come. We shouldn't take them lightly as they'll be right up for it, if they win they'll release commemorative merchandise and put the fixture in their trophy cabinet.
You spend two seasons in the premier league and now you suddenly think you're world beaters haha, it's really not a huge game for us, a chance to try some players that usually don't get as many minutes. Nevertheless, I hope we have a good go (well obviously!)
It really is though, you get to visit a Premier League team and have the opportunity to watch some classy football, rather than the dreary hoof-ball of the Championship. Don't be too disheartened if we embarrass you on your big day out, Liverpool struggled against us so it doesn't bode well for your cloggers.
Welcome to the forum Bristol City fan. You'll need a better sarcasm radar than that though to survive round here...
whilst there is that draw of playing a prem team in yourselves, we have met quite a few times in the last decade in the championship. Plus, we'll be visiting a stadium that's actually smaller than ours. Again, not our big day out but if that makes you feel better thinking that, then go ahead.
It shows how well we fans have adjusted to the Prem ethos. We get really upset if a week goes by when we don't spend £10 million on someone, and of course we love blocking off Friday night, Saturday lunchtime, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, Sunday lunchtime, Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening and Monday evening to be sure of watching our heroes dazzle the opposition.
remember when we beat you to the title in 1998? ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
First time in a couple of seasons I'm actually excited about an early cup-tie. The fact the line-up could feature Success, Deeney, Hughes & Capoue who haven't started a game yet is pretty cool!
This looks about right to me. Zarate might get 45 minutes if his fit enough, Mapps might even get a start or time off the bench. I know he wants to keep a winning mentality but we also want to create competition for places. A good performance and any of these could be pushing for a place against Brighton.
If it were later in season I'd agree about fringe players but now I'd put out our strongest team, not that the result matters too much, but players need to get used to each other and Silva's systems and only so much can be done on training ground but there is no substitute for competitive games (even against weaker opposition)
Are we still letting away fans in from lower leagues? I thought we didn't have to now we're in the Prem?
With all due respect Ron but times have changed, nowadays it's all about giving minutes to your newer/less fit squad members AND protecting your expensive investments from unnecessary injury. No PL club will be at full strength until the latter rounds.
Hey come on now, that's not the attitude. They're bringing nearly 450 with them. That's nearly their whole home crowd I believe. Top effort.
