I think you're making it up now. Infact I'm convinced you are a troll of SM#16 and he is laundering the forum proceeds.
Update: Still no matches in 2014. This week we were supposed to be playing Welwyn, but unfortunately they folded due to lack of players and availability, which is a shame as we have more players ourselves than we can accommodate. Every team who played Welwyn had the points removed from them, and as Welwyn were bottom without a win, it was a fair few points. We hadn't played Welwyn so were not affected. The good news is that without playing a game in 2014 the WFCForums sponsored Watford Ladies now sit top of the league.
Could well be, Hemel have a very good team so it will be a close game, (assuming the weather behaves). Because Welwyn dropped out then we might have to play the other teams again, which I'd prefer because the girls just want to play football. More games is good. There is no goal difference this season because stronger teams would concentrate on scoring goal after goal against weaker opposition. Now you are encouraged to mix the team up a bit if you're 3 or 4 goals up to give the girls a chance to develop by trying different areas of the team. It also gives weaker teams a chance to attack more than they normally would. We tried this against one team this season but they kept scoring no matter how we mixed it up!
I looked into this last night, and it seems like a one off match would be played for the title rather than be decided on games against whoever you tied with. Not 100% sure though.
Today we had our first match since December 4th, and it was a tricky away game to Bedwell Rangers who are a very well organised team. It was another close game and the only difference was that our team wanted the win more. The ladies won 2-1 despite missing 2 key players and were exhausted at the end. Well played girls. Here's the current league table: Next Saturday is a home game, a cup quarter final against 1st division opposition.
Tomorrows Cup Quarter Final match moved to Hitchin Belles ground as Sun Postal waterlogged again. A nice early trip up the A1 for the 9.30am warmup ready for kick off at 10.
Now postponed at Hitchin as well so another one bites the dust. Would be good to see you at a match sometime Meister. Bring your Harry the Hornet outfit
Watford Ladies Harts U12's v Hitchin Belles U12's at Sun Postal this Saturday, kickoff 10am. Cup Quarter Final. Under 10's, 11's, 12's & 16's all have home matches this Saturday all kicking off at 10, so it's going to be great to see all the teams playing again now the weather is behaving. About time.
The girls won 3-1 against a very good Hitchin side today, (Hitchin are 4th in the top league). At half time they were 1-0 down but really went for it 2nd half with 3 uncontested goals. The best thing about today was that if we are lucky enough to be promoted then we know we'll be able to compete next season. The Semi Final is the biggest test they've faced so far as a team so far. We play the Watford academy girls!
What the other team just let them walk the ball in three times? Or was that our first team at Forest?
The girls managed to get a few lines in the back of the Wobbly today for the cup win. Tomorrow we have a home friendly against the one team we've really struggled against this season, Knebworth. 10.30am kick off.
A 3-0 win against a very good Knebworth team and some signs that the girls are moving up a level, there was some very nice football played today. It was also good to see our very own site admin turn up to watch some of the game, thanks Alex.
A 6-0 win today away to St. Albans. Our main rival Hemel Ladies have a double header today so we're just waiting on their results now. Next week we have a massive game, a League Cup Semi Final against the Watford academy ladies.
It is. Not certain of KO time but likely to be 10am again. A few results went our way at the weekend so the table currently looks like this:
It's a bit of a weird one with Garston. They have two under 12 girls teams. The Diamonds in our division who haven't won a game all season and the Mets in the first division who haven't lost a game for 2 years.
A loss today but what a game. Trailing 0-1 at half time the girls got it back to 1-1 and almost won it at the end of normal time as our striker was 1 on 1 with the keeper and about to shoot when a last gasp tackle from an academy defender denied the chance. Extra time saw the academy team take the lead, but with about 5 seconds left on the clock every girl packed the academy area for the last corner of the match and a bullet header was superbly saved by their keeper when it looked like a certain goal and penalties. It was such a good game that the U14 game on the next pitch stopped several times to watch, and the U16s about 4 pitches away knew exactly what was going on for the whole game. Our girls really gave the academy team a scare, and when you consider that the academy team are 5 points clear at the top of division 1 it speaks volumes for our girls spirit. SM#16 was also there again today and I know he enjoyed the match.
No game scheduled this week, tried for a friendly but didn't happen. Next week most of the team are off on various holidays or visits Easter weekend is a rest weekend, (no league games), but we're trying for a friendly. Will likely be away.
WFC Ladies Something that I just thought of now (and I'm relatively sure someone has already thought of this), but since the Ladies team has their season in the summer, are the 1881 thinking of going to their games to show their support and trial out new chants etc...?
