You say that, but apart from today and Norwich, we've been tight as a nun's whimsy.

Well all the footballs been discussed but my couple of mentions are

1, The family stand..... I ve always sat here with my boy and i have NEVER heard them sing like that last 20 mins... Everyone was up and going for it... it was absolutely buzzing over there and i really hope it continues...
2, WOMEN.. i know it was the family stand but again, Never seen so many women in there, Mums on their own taking there kids etc... 3 times the amount and it was really good to see as a family club.
3, Deeney ! He said that as a capt he has to take the pressure of the other players and hold it up etc... well thats the best game i ve seen him play ! awesome.
4, Gomes.... Yes he's mental.. (started talking to the crowd in a full blown conversation twice!) but how can he get a 4 rating! 1 mistake ! it fell to an attacker... but the amount of saves and hung on to !! Mans a star..
5, Andrews, I ve slated him (and deserved it Tuesday) but he took a great goal today. I didnt like him coming on as he sits so deep and i still think we asked for trouble letting them come at us time and time again but it worked so fair play !!
6, Milking it... (Munari, Paredes Fessi) yes they were mostly fouls and its part of the game now but certainly Paredes could ve stayed up and got a shot away, does look sad at times !

    HAPPY DAYS

Abdi is definitely working his way back still, even that great man can't come back in top notch condition in & form after so long out. God I love him.

We were Row T 163/4 - so right at the edge of the section on the other side of the aisle. Since we can only go a few times a season (keep trying to persuade my 2 girls to come so I can go more but they're still insisting they have no interest, sadly) it's pot luck where we end up but we generally try to go higher rather than lower.

I agree. I'm far from convinced by Tommy Hoban (gobsmacked that he got MOTM on Tue), I've long though Ekstrand was ineffective (whilst he may be a courageous, physical player, his distribution and decision making is woeful) - Tamas, I actually like but he's got off to a disastrous start. Angella is legendary and holds the whole thing together. I also massively rated Fitz-Hall and was sorry to see him go.

Think this is harsh. Tamas has been good up until 2 reckless bookings today, Hoban is a class act, have no idea how you can't be convinced by him tbh, & Ekstrand wasn't the one making mistakes today, imo.

Not been back from the game long. Fantastic ending & atmosphere to a game that was in many ways a good advertisment for the championship. We dominated the first 25 mins and really should have been 3 or 4 up by that point but our finishing was uncharacteristicly woeful. I think we where slightly guilty of resting on our laurals after going 1 up and Huddersfield always looked a threat especially out wide, but didnt create too many chances. Even when we went down to 10 men most of their chances where speculative long range efforts that where ably dealt with by Gomes. The way we set up after going down to ten men suggested that lessons had been learned from the Norwich game.

As has already been mention the defence was abit of a shambles today and I would include Gomes in that to an extent. At times there seemed to be lapses in communication and one of the Huddersfield equalisers came about because players got in each others way. Pudil and Anya inparticular struggled defensively. I'm actually surprised by some of the positive ratings that Pudil has got since he wasnt much better than Anya who himself had something of an off day. Its also something of a worry that for the 2nd consecutive home game Pudil has had a tough time dealing with the opposition wide player.

I thought the ref had a decent game, he got the main decisions right and was for a change consistant. We cant have any complaints about the sending off - what a stupid tackle to make when you have already been booked. The linesman infront of the Rous had abit of a mare in the first half when a Watford player curled the ball down the wing. It actually went out of play and curled around/over the linesman and back into play and he failed to give a throw in. Few inchs lower and it would have actually hit him. Does make me wonder what these linesman look at sometimes.

The first goal came about after a fantastic through ball from Toszer. Huddersfield could perhaps feel sslightly aggrieved by our second as there did appear to be a foul by Fossi in the build up. Andrews took the third goal well but the marking was atrocious. The fourth goal was a real bit of class from Abdi.

All in all a pleasing win that we contrived to make harder than it should have been. As a team we showed real character, we worked hard and battled well. Also the fans need a specialmention. The 1881 was fantastic, as was most of the Rookery especially the last 20 mins or so.

A lot will disagree but despite what even I will admit was a horrid few weeks for Tamas, I still think he is class!

He looses his head at times but atleast he puts in a challenge! Angella and Ekstrand usually just let players ease past them as if they aren't even there and Tamas has to try mop up for their mistakes. The OG could have happened to anyone and the pen Vs Stevenage was him trying to put in a challenge that Andrews couldn't be arsed making! Today okay fair enough, silly red but he puts himself about even if it is rashly at times.

He also has a pass that rivals Tozser, he can pick anyone out from anywhere! My personal 3 is Tommie Tamas and Gabby, Ekstrand is our weakest link & as for Cathcart well I have no idea but I'm sure he'll get his chance soon.

Angella & Ekstrand need to hit the gym. They both get bullied physically and not commanding in the air. Not sure why Ekstrand is the main defender, it doesn't suit him. I thought Tamas was much better there against Leeds. Also think Hoban shouldn't of been dropped for his league performances. He is our best defender in that he's no nonsense, if it needs to be put in row z he will do it, holds his position and likes defending and also brings much needed calmness when needed. Sometimes I think both Angella & Ekstrand moan like **** about being shirt pulled etc, blame & point fingers at others when they just need to take responsibility and not cause panic! If we sort our defence out no doubting we'll be up near the top!

oh, and on leadership, a subject close to me heart: TD9, exemplary - led by example for 96 mins, wound up and wound down our players brilliantly. Stamped all over indiscipline and led our players accordingly. What a superb example of captaincy - this was definitely lacking last season; I sense Manu fell into the same 'nice guy' camp as Zola?

Great entertainment today. I could even sing in the family stand for the last ten minutes - which is the first time I've been able to do that since sitting there with my son.

Here is a very balanced post from a Huddersfield forum, really worth a read as it is well written.

I agree with most of what's been said about the defence. Hoban is too good to sit on the bench. I'd have him in for Ekstrand, moving Tamas to the centre and playing this:

    -------------------------Gomes------------------------

    --------Angella---------Tamas----------Hoban--------

    --Paredes------Tozser---------Munari---------Pudil---

    --------------------------Abdi---------------------------

    --------------Deeney-------------Vydra/Fessi---------

    That's my perfect starting XI.

I think Frank Smith has acted very poorly these last few weeks, and yes, as long as Sannino keeps winning, he should be left alone.

Played well first half and should have had more goals although in fairness they had some chances as well. For 20 minutes at the start of the second half we were awful. Considering how much experience Tamas has that was idiotic but we actually looked better after that. Maybe 4 at the back is a better option? Angella was excellent as was Tozser and Deeney. Still not sure Abdi is back up to his own very high standards but he's well on the way. He must have been the calmest person in the ground when he got the 4th. Great win for Beppe and the way our lot performed today nobody can surely still think he's lost the dressing room. I would be very disappointed if he went now.
Last word is for the crowd, not just the Rookery but everybody was up singing at the end. Great noise. Players looked shattered afterwards so international break might be handy

That was up there with the best games I've been to. Only the Leicester game beats the atmosphere in the last 15 minutes.

Like many others have said, it's games like this that we wait for as football fans. Fantastic.

I hate people like Frank Smith. He's a nasty piece of work.

The best part of all of it is that for each punch he throws, Sannino wins more support via his genuine passionate responses.

Well there are two people that think Ekstrand is better than Hoban, most importantly the head coach is one of them. I dont get this he's the best defender at the club crap, he isn't he is not mobile enough, he may be quick enough over 20-30 yards but not over the more important first 10. He is less comfortable on the ball than any of the other three. He did Ok against Leeds who were poor he wasn't great against Doncaster so why should he have been a shoe in for today's game

This post, and what I saw from the away fans today, leads me to think that 'Uddersfield are quite a decent bunch and diametrically opposed from the Leeds scum...in fact, where is Uddersfield? My knowledge outside of M25shire is limited....

Hoban is far from the best defender at the club, but he has potential to be brilliant in our system.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher talked about the demands of 3-5-2, and the need to have specialist wide centre backs. I personally think Hoban, with the right training and experience, could be perfect for that role by virtue of being comfortable at both centre back and full back.

  29. Moosedog

I agree he has the potential to be a good centre back, but in my opinion he is never a full back and could never be turned into one, full backs need pace and mobility as you are playing against probably the quickest players on the opposing team ie their wingers unfortunately you can not coach pace and mobility into a player

Agreed. How he is keeping Hoban out of the team is beyond me. The defence still worries me and looks distinctly dodgy when dealing with crosses coming in.

Crikey. Two things - he'll only be reporting what his sources are still telling him and anyway the club could have killed the story when first published. Let alone in the time since. Why haven't they?
