Luckily, referees seem to hate them more than us. Hilarious Boris Johnson style tackle in the penalty area waved away. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04g4w8f/the-football-league-show-20142015-23082014 23:21 Bodes well for Saturday.
Unless they want to make amends of course! ..... but I agree HT were robbed blind, they're actually not a bad side this season
Watford FC - Huddersfield Town - 30/08/2014 History: History is something we can’t do anything about so let’s not dwell on it too much! We all know we lost to them in the last game of the season 4-1, amid an alleged player’s revolt so without being too flippant, I think we can skip over that game as trying to read anything into it of consequence would be a bit of a waste of time. Famous fans: For the elder generations amongst us Harold Wilson is probably recognised as relatively famous, dependent on your political persuasions, he was of course leader of the Labour Party, and led them to four general election victories and had two spells as Prime Minister. Others include Reece Dinsdale who apparently starred in a documentary ‘Beyond the Touchline’ a behind the scenes look at life at Leeds Road (Huddersfield’s old ground), he also starred in Coronation Street along with many other TV and film appearances – he is also the spitting image of old boss Mark Robins. Patrick Stewart who led the good ship USS Enterprise (Star Trek), he is also renowned for treading the boards especially with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Kathy Staff (Last of the Summer Wine) and Ryan Sidebottom (Cricketer – Yorkshire & England) also support the Terriers. Famous wins: They were the first side to win the league title for three seasons in succession 1924; 1925 and 1926 – only three other sides have done that in England! Don’t ask me who they were…. Famous Managers: Herbert Chapman who steered the Terriers to those three title wins in succession and went on to more fame at Arsenal. Bill Shankly before he headed off to Liverpool and Lou Macari after his playing career at Old Trafford. Famous Players: Ray Wilson (England World Cup winner); Dennis Law (Scotland, Man Utd & Man City fame) and Frank Worthington (England international – great baller) are the most notable. Played for both: Charlie Gallogly; Andy Rankin; Brian Greenhalgh; Iwan Roberts; Wayne Allison; Theo Robinson & Jonathan Hogg to name but a few, I’ve actually seen all of these players wear the yellow of Watford with the exception of Charlie Gallogly. Now: The Town got off to the worst possible start to the current campaign, losing 4-0 at home to Bournemouth was not what the Huddersfield faithful were hoping for – amazingly, the club then decided enough was enough and Mark Robins was history. It would appear that his departure was not too much of a disappointment to the fans though. Mark Lillis has been put in temporary charge, which seems to have gone down well so far – whether he’s still in charge at 3pm on Saturday is open to question. Watford on the other hand got off to a marvelous start against Bolton Wanderers, time will tell whether that performance was as good as we thought or was it that Bolton were just toilet? Norwich wasn’t great but let’s not dwell on that too much, who knows what would have happened if we hadn’t been down to 10 players for 88 minutes.Rotherham was the type of game we’d have lost last season, and Leeds last Saturday was pretty impressive. Then again tempered by a rather disappointing defeat albeit minus several first team regulars against Donkeyaster. Who knows whether Beppe will be in charge by the time the game comes around – I for one hope so but I know others have differing opinions. Head to head: Huddersfield have the edge recording 11 wins compared to our eight wins, five games resulted in draws Score prediction: 2-0 Watford And with Cristian disappearing sadly to serie B (for a short stint we all hope) here is a blast from the past: (Ed)
This is all well and good (yay football etc.), but what is the architecture of Huddersfield town centre like?
He featured on the MOTD 50th celebratory programme - the Everton goalie beaten by the Ernie Hunt/Willie Carr donkey kick free kick. I think we signed him the following season.
I'll leave the architectural delights to someone who gives a damn. Now I could give you a couple of decent pubs for when we go up there later in the season!
Ben Foster maybe? Wonder was Paul Robinson's goal against him on it? Didn't watch the programme though!
I'm going 4-1 for this one . Deeney , ff , Abdi abd vydra from the bench . They score from a goal that is miles offside to make it 1-1
Girlfriend moves back to Huddersfield for uni on Monday and I have to help take her stuff up there. This building is the IT department of Huddersfield Uni. I have a strong distaste of the north, but Huddersfield is actually quite a nice Yorkshire town.
Terriers fan here! As some of you have said already, we were completely robbed at home to Charlton last Saturday, as various clips of the action clearly demonstrate but on the positive side we were excellent in the win 1-2 at Reading the match before. So all is not doom and gloom, even after the miserable opening match 0-4 drubbing by AFC Bournemouth. We were beaten 0-2 by Forest on Tuesday night in the League Cup but in fairness both teams made plenty of changes and clearly on that evidence, they have the stronger squad. So Saturday should be interesting. No one's expecting the kind of result we had last season obviously but personally, I think we'll give a good account of ourselves. Caretaker boss Mark Lillis has insisted on 100% effort and commitment from all our players and, as was shown last night in the Bradford City v Leeds Utd League Cup tie, determination and positive thinking can achieve wonders. In all our games since that opening shocker we have show plenty of desire and Mark Lillis is determined to playing what he calls 'round pegs in round holes' rather than the tactics employed by his predecessor Mark Robins. It's my honest opinion that only a hand full of teams in the Championship have better individual players than us, where we've struggled has been keeping clear of injuries at vital times and getting the team to consistently play we'll together. When we do 'click' we're as good as anyone and if we can keep James Vaughan fit and he is able to forge an understanding with Nahki Wells, then we might even surprise a few people as the season unfolds. We'll see! Looking forward to it:]]
It will definitely be different from the game at the end of last season, I hope!! Never underestimate any teams in this league so I expect a tough challenge. Hopefully they come and have a go and it's entertaining although I get the feeling Lillis will have them organised and hard working and will try to pressure us when we have the ball. An early goal as always will help. Tougher than Leeds but reckon will nick this 2-1. Deeney and Vydra after coming on as sub
I don't think it too arrogant to expect a win here considering we have already won 3-0 and 4-1 at The Vic this season and we rested the majority of our key players midweek which I am sure will be helpful. Although I was on a bank holiday bender in Blackpool last weekend so missed the Leeds game I have heard nothing but praise for Fessi and the past has shown that Huddersfield defence struggle with his trickery. Therefore he has to start alongside Deeney who I expect should be buzzing at signing a new contract this week.
Hoping for a double over Huddersfield - a win for Warrington in Super League tonight followed by a victory for the Hornets on Saturday. 2-1 Watford and Warrington by 10!
I'm not sure whether to be impressed that you are the first person to ever not say 'here in peace,' or to treat it as an act of war.
