Last time we beat Spurs in the top flight I was 4 years old. Watched this on my iPad down in Cornwall today, last time I did that we beat Utd 3-1. Probably worth me staying here the season then.
The transition Holebas has made this season is unbelievable. Not only is defensively MUCH stronger, his delivery from set pieces has been unreal.
Love how aggressive we were in getting the ball back. Holebas, Cathcart and Kabasele were excellent at the back. Deeney and Gray battled really well and Success showed some excellent touches and held the ball up well. Fantastic performance. What a time to be alive!
Quite simply brilliant. Quite simply a Leicester 2016 performance. Let's enjoy this for as long as it lasts.
******* GET IN!!!! What a result. Monumental effort from the team today. They deserve that. Yes!!!!! Hard to single anyone out but I'm forcing myself to and my MoM is Cathcart... Enormous in defence and a huge, huge goal. I clocked that too. The team spirit is obvious and is playing a massive part in why we are where we are right now... which is with four wins in four and joint top of the league in case you hadn't noticed! You Orns!!!!
In terms of performance Chelsea at home last season was probably a bit better, but what a comeback and what a game!
Outclassed. Not really. Just too cagey from us until they scored. They seemed to be waiting for us to kick them, when we didn't they didn't really know what to do in the space. We pressed as a unit and made them lose the ball when they tired. All they had were corners and long shots. Pundits can say what they want but we wanted it and worked ourselves into a win when others would've turned over.
First time this season I've been able to catch one of our games.... absolutely sensational. Not one player had a poor game. Kabasele and Cathcart were both incredible, nothing between them really. Also, Janmaat looked like he could actually defend, he had a great game as did Holebas! Gray was pretty decent too and Deeney was fantastic (I was one of his biggest critics last season). Success and Chalobah were good subs to make and both played well. Only slight worry was Foster not having a great game again although he didn't have very much to do. Their goal was very much his fault.
The first "scalp" of the season and, for a much fancied top 4 side, Spurs didn't look that "good". Cathcart was superb. Good to see Chalobah get some game time - will it be Hughes or him to be the first Golden Boy (of this era) to get a full England cap? A great Norf Landan derby with SEJ in attendance.
We most certainly were not outclassed. That's an insult to the quality of our play today. How many chances did World Cup golden boot winner Kane get? None. Why? Because he was outclassed by Kabasele and Cathcart. (Same for Moura v Holebas). How many clear cut chances did Eriksen/Alli/Dembele create? Very few (Spurs best chance besides us giving them a goal was an Alderweireld ball over the top). Why? Because Capoue and Doucoure stopped them playing their game. How many dangerous balls in to our box game from the Spurs full backs and wide men? Very few (besides corners). Why? Because Janmaat, Holebas, Hughes and Pereyra outclassed them.
It really hits home how bad a manger Silva is, or at the very least how he showed Wenger-esque levels of disgust for organising a defence. We were all slashing our wrists at the thought of going into another season with virtually the same defence, when all along we had decent defenders we just needed a manager who could actually organise them.
Yawn, far too easy- guess Utd might actually be a half decent challenge? That 'grinning idiot' ain't bad is he? Holebas doing a decent job too.
Again I say to those who bemoaned not bringing lots of expensive players in. ( I was one of you early in the transfer period) TEAM SPIRIT CONSISTENCY STRATEGY AND TACTICS FROM THE COACH Where are we now? What is more important?
Still in shock. How the hell is this the same group of players as last season. Under Snakey we'd have lost by 2 or 3. I know the real test will come when we lose a couple, but, as it stands, is anyone still doubting the decision to keep Gracia?
Well well well. Missed the first half as on holiday and by the pool; came back to the room to follow the second half but decided, when Spurs scored, that I was bringing Watford bad luck and so - following this sound logical thought process - decided to download a film for flight home tomorrow and have a shower instead of following the second half. You're welcome.
JG's got them chasing down every ball. We have a team with tremendous fitness & this makes all the difference. First time in my memory that I'm not totally bricking it when we go into the lead. Deeney needs to put on weight.
We weren’t lacklustre in the first half. It was strategic. We have done this many times this season, we have NULLIFIED a top 5 team for 45 minutes, again, it isn’t lacklustre it is planned. Look at how we defend
Ah yes, forgot that one. So he was limited to one chance and thanks to the pressure of the defenders he couldn't control his header!
I think their goal gave us the win I think. We were set up to not concede and if it finished 0-0 job done and nick a goal a bonus. As it happened we had to come out and grabbed a win. Funny old game.
That was incredible !In many ways that was my favourite performance since back in the premier league . We weren’t in the game in the first half though thought we did defend really well . I did think that was it when spurs scored but we never gave up and through sheer hard work and bloody mindedness we dragged ourselves back into that game and won it ! This could be a special side. We know we havew some quality but now we are well organised and able to really dig in to get the result . Well done Javi !
