Great result and a great test of character. We needed that more than another thrashing like the first two matches. I must say I enjoyed the pantomime villain aspect of it all and will look forward to the return at their ********. Its weird, it's like a friendly kind of animosity. I was talking to their fans before and after and it was all very pleasant. The atmosphere there will be decent. I thought everyone was ace apart from Hughes who seemed to lose the ball and get into trouble much more than usual. It's time for pereyra to stop scoring for a while now and someone else to take over. we really don't need people cottoning on to the fact we have a true argentinian superstar on our hands. Holebas continues his imperious march towards being crowned player of the season. It has been inevitable since he first joined us. Let it be known that I have always rated and loved him deeply while the rest of you hurled abuse. You fail to realise that he has always operated at a level beyond your comprehension. Amazing how many of our fans can't be arsed to turn up anymore. At least wait until we are losing before you **** it off. Why would you not bother going to see a winning team. Sad! Their kit was fluffing glorious. Never again in our lifetimes will two kits of such quality face off against each other. I'm definitely going to Reading now Can't wait to see sema and success given more game time, we're gonna snot them Lets pray capoue treats kane and alli with the same amount of respect he showed zaha. A wonderful challenge that the ratbag never recovered from. Sensational scenes.
Really don't know what all the media hype is about Cap's challenge, yes it was misplaced, yes it was a yellow, but it was just a slight touch, if it was heavy stud work Zaha wouldn't have been able to carry on.
It was a perfect storm for Sky. Televised game so have to hype up every incident, early in the match so could've affected result, Capoue's imperious run for the first goal, Zaha a controversy magnet. But most of all, it's a decision going the way of one of the smaller teams in the league. Like last season when BT went on and on about the Richarlison 'dive' against Arsenal as though it was the most heinous act of cheating ever, rather than a 50-50 call that could've gone either way. Like you say, it really wasn't that bad. A bit nasty but all this talk of a career ender or putting him out for the season is ludicrous. When has anyone ever been seriously injured by a rake of the studs?
Palace are very well liked within the football media I think. They have quite a few 'celebrity' fans such as Kevin Day and a journalist or two,Neil Ashton and the chap at the Racing Post. This keeps their profile high and they have a very media friendly CEO or whatever title Parish has,you can't keep that man quiet. Compare Parish to Gino, when was the last time he spoke to the media? I have no recollection, the occasional utterance from Duxbury and that's about it. As for Souness,he looks very unwell to me.Very frail and maybe his judgement has been impaired?
Good interview from Javi after the game saying the fringe players are keeping the first team players on their toes. Nice to hear squad harmony and competition for places is contributing. I’m liking Javi more and more.
I like what we're doing, set up to have a very offensive midfield & diversity of attacking options in that area. I believe that is the real key in this league. Unless you have a true 40m-50m+ class striker, the rest of the forwards in this league outside the T6 are generally all much of a muchness & will get you your 5-10 goals a season. Having said that we could do with another serious striking option for January, there is currently no competition. I dont think Okaka is the right type of striker option for us now, but pretty sure he would be a real hero in the Championship. Another quality defensive option & we're good.
Really think we need to stick with Gray upfront. His movement is giving space to others breaking from midfield, Pereyra and Deeney. He has scored one great goal and many of the others involve him running at speed, taking defenders with him. If Gerard plays it would be a mistake to play him wide right and keep Hughes in the middle. We need to stick with 2 upfront, one with pace, or we will revert to the sterility up front of early 2018.
There can't be a Premier League ground with as many empty seats on a match day as Vicarage Road. What is wrong with our fans? Every match should be a sell out. It's embarrassing.
Extraordinary that Bros are still playing the London Palladium and not the Pig and Whistle, West Byfleet.
**** Souness. I still remember vividly when his Blackburn team cheated to get two of our players sent off in the early 00's. He's a dinosaur.
Wasn't so long ago 13k would be a decent crowd .. Pushing up to 15k when the Pozzos came. Some Palsce fan claiming Zaha should take Capoue to court as he could have caused serious injury !
What worries me is that after our last two matches the opposing manager has singled out one of our players' fouls as deserving a red card. Now we'll be branded cheating dirty bastards rather than a bunch of foreign mercenaries. Or maybe a bunch of dirty cheating foreign mercenary bastards
Agree but this is a tough one. I don't really blame people with young kids not wanting to sit in an uncovered area of the ground in the pouring rain when they can watch it on tv. And I say this as someone who is on the waiting list for a season ticket. I agree that there should be an easier way for the club to resell "no shows" though.
Thank god for Bros. If it hadn't been for them luring our fans away I wouldn't have been able to move a few row back yesterday and would have ended being soaked in my usual seats. Matt and Luke, I owe you something.
Garth Crooks, that font of all knowledge, has had another go at picking the 'team of the week'. Our very own Pereyra made the cut, and Garth has some glowing praise and great insights as to why: Roberto Pereyra: This was a spiteful game and I was amazed I didn't see players sent off. One of the few bright moments in this rather vindictive affair was the ability of Roberto Pereyra and his brilliantly taken goal. The Watford winger has scored three goals this season and there look to be more in the bag. But what was referee Anthony Taylor thinking by ignoring Etienne Capoue's appalling tackle on Wilfried Zaha? What's worse, Taylor then insists on booking Zaha for cleanly winning the ball a few minutes afterwards. Watford won this game comfortably in the end but not before they targeted Zaha and bullied Palace into submission. No thanks to Taylor. What a ****.
The thing with the Capps challenges is everyone is saying it is really reckless and could’ve been a season ending injury, because he raked his Achilles... but he didn’t he raked his calf muscle? Doesn’t the Achilles join the calf muscle to the foot and is hence much lower down? At worst it would’ve been a bit painful, but never season ending. Also how long before Bobby P gets to trademark the cut in from the left and bend it in the bottom right corner of the goal.. goal? He’s an absolute master at it, what a player.
Another easy win! Thought we were lucky first half not to be losing but we utterly dominated them in the second half and ran out deserved winners. Holebas' goal was great, watching it dip into the net and then his reaction was priceless. Bring on Spurs. Was a good day despite being drenched for the 90 minutes. What's up with our singing lot? Singing Zaha what's the score when 2 up and he goes on to score, and then there was that really **** Viking clap thing.
We seem to have a lot of casual season ticket holders who go to the odd game but not committed to all. I know Duxbury has looked at this but yesterday was disappointing. Weather atrocious yes, bank holiday and kids on holiday yes but why if not going can't you give your season ticket to friends or resell back to club. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
