And another of the three, Hutton's own goal after Deeney's pass against Villa, was forced by Ighalo's presence. Remarkable season from him.
Ighalo has grown since last season, utterly brilliant performance, as Bassong is actually no mug. I usually don't like to criticise refs, but Mike Dean was poor. Too easy to just give half the decision and not upset people so who cares if wrong. And it looks odd to give more than one pen, so who cares if wrong? Another team who had an off day against us.
Yes he was very close to getting a touch on that one! Today's starting line up contained only two players who've scored this season, which is a little scary, but luckily the two have now got 14 between them!!! I'm sure other players will start chipping in with the odd goal or two, but so far we are on course for the least number of scorers in a season! Abdi is our only other player to have got a goal, bar a player who is now out on loan and an opposition defender!
I'd forgotten Norwich really are a horrible side. So glad we've beaten them. Not s game for the purists, but Iggy, Capoue, Deeney, Cathcart, Britos.. really are showing they are top players. Iggy really could play for any team in the country.. which is a bit worrying as the top teams have a lot of cash. Iggy destroyed Bassong and his mate. Capoue, I say it every week, what on earth were spuds thinking?!
Great result. Average performance except the outstanding Britos and Ighalo. Norwich dreadful in every department.
Am I so delighted to get it so wrong. We are looking so solid. Gave Narch nothing. So pleased to give them what they deserved after last seasons Norwich games. Ighalo is going to be such hot property in the window and I hope his head isn't turned by all the attention. I think his faith will help to keep his feet on the ground. And well done Leicester. Their brilliant results are keeping us under the all important radar. Well done QSF - we have a gem.
Ighalo's best performance for us I think. Capoue did what we all expect now. Must be on a Vardy-esque run of consecutive nutmegs. Jurado grew into the game after a couple of naff touches. Very, very tidy performance that he won't get credit for. Ake great again. Last of all...Miguel ****ing Britos. I'm struggling to remember a better performance from a Watford centre back. Absolutely faultless. I mean...two overhead clearances ffs.
I had big reservations about signing Britos, which seemed vindicated after his red card on debut, but I'm the first to say he's done very well so far and I was wrong to doubt the signing. I just feared he might lose his head and cost us matches but he hasn't. So far so much has fallen into place. Some of us wondered if coming up as runners up might not be the worst thing in the world..a little less pressure and attention etc. So far that's been the case, as has our decision to appoint a higher pedigree Head Coach, totally revamp our defence and to keep faith with our two 40+ goal strikers from last year. Nobody will want to tempt fate I know, but you have to say if we don't lose next Saturday, we would have to have a shambolic and terrible second half of the season to finish up bottom three. There's still much work to be done of course, but it's totally in our own hands.
I wonder how Naarch will get on for the rest of the season against 'the likes of Watford' - i.e. Crystal Palace, West Ham, Liverpool, Stoke, Everton and Chelsea? I'm guessing about the same as they did against us.
A very good day at the office today. Lots of excellent performances too. Mike Dean had a nightmare with some bizarre decisions but luckily it didn't cost us a result, unlike both games last season. A special mention has to go to Ighalo. An unbelievably good performance. He looked a real class act. Capoue, Jurado and Ake were my other stand out performers, as well as Britos who reads the game so well. The only worry was it took us until 92 minutes to make the game safe, but that was a very deserved win and 3 more points to safety. We should be very proud of this team.
This season is exceeding all expectations I had going in to it, the team have been phenomenal. Lets just soak it up and enjoy it, because there are bound to be some tough times ahead at some point, but right now, it feels amazing. Capoue is the player Chalobah could have been had Chelsea not stiffled his development, he's a joy to have in the middle of the park. Even Jurado looked a bit sharper today, releasing Ake with some nice skills at times and even winning the ball, and Abdi's battles with Brady show just how committed to the defensive side of the game he's become. Deeney and Ighalo terrific again, I'm so pleased the manager has chosen a system that accommodates them both. Long may it continue.
Comfortable win in the end and we should have scored 3 or 4 really Didn't realise Norwich played such hoofball, they were one dimensional and hopeless today For us I thought Jurado was poor and Gueds or Abdi should have started. Britos was awesome and deserved man of the match As for Ighalo, so pleased he got the goal he deserved. Been many years since I've seen a striker utterly destroy a centre back like he did to Bassong today, beasted him for 90 minutes non stop
Amazing result Difficult to criticize QSF for starting with Anya and his favourite player Jurado when we win a game Norwich were very poor - I think that was because we are so hard to break down and so well disciplined We did say after the Man u game we needed to pick up points in our 3 'winnable' games before the difficult run. The way this season is going I dont see why we couldnt win one or 2 games over the Christmas season. It really is a more level playing field this year in the Premier League
Norwich were poor. Their movement off the ball when they had possession in the final 3rd was shocking. If MOTD makes it look like they were in that match at any point tonight I'll be disappointed. Ighalo was absolutely immense, won the ball and got shots off that he had absolutely no right to be doing so. Norwich fans absolutely silent from about 4 minutes in due to their team doing nothing whatsoever to inspire them. Play like that too often and they're going down. Something is definitely not right with Gomes either. Watch this space.
Also... "Norwich manager Alex Neil, speaking to BBC Sport:*"The conditions didn’t make for a great game and they dealt with them better. There wasn’t anything between the teams. At this level the first goal is absolutely crucial." :zola:
We looked like a team with more quality and ability than Norwich But for Rudd Ighalo would have had 3/4 himself and the defence was rock solid in tricky conditions against 2/3 pretty big and physical strikers. Midfield was excellent (even Jurado has a decent match I thought) and Ake did a good job on Redmond. Only really Brady caused any problems.
Jurado has had a lot of critics (including myself) but he played well and showed signs of his true ability today. Let's hope he can build on it.
Got to give Rudd credit, first league game for Norwich since 2011/12 (and, I believe, first league game at all since his loan at Preston in 2013/14) and he was the only player that kept Norwich in the game. Could have been 4 or 5 without him. Made some excellent stops to prevent Ighalo from getting a hat full.
13 of our games this season with goals in..11 have now been won by the team scoring the opening goal, the other two drawn.
Interesting how some players polarise opinion for the record I thought Jurado was poor today we had a much better balance when Abdi came on .
That looked like a Premiership side against a Championship side and that's testament to Quique and the Pozzo's. Think they had one chance, which was a pot shot from 30 yards? There were a few times where they broke, we got organised and worked really hard until they had to just go back. You could see how well drilled we were, it was brilliant. That being said Norwich were rubbish. Watson, Capoue, Britos, Iggy and Deeney all absolutely quality again. I love watching Capoue, he has that swagger, like he's not arsed but then he's so classy. Same with Ighalo, they're a joy to watch.
Brilliant win . Looking forward to that long drive to Sunderland - puts us in great heart !. What a fantastic season
Completely agree, he drifted in to the middle and caused them problems. The game reminded me of Middlesborough at home last season in the fact we restricted them to two shots on target and they did not look like scoring at all. A superb performance from the team, thought Watson should have come off at the hour mark as he wasnt closing the ball down as effectively after his yellow which is understandable. I thought it was a professional performance against a team who will be fighting relegation.
I thought Abdi was like a man on a mission when he came on tackling, pushing Naarch players and generally putting himself about
Can someone create a video of all of Iggy's scoops and Capoue's nutmegs please? Iggy's scoop nutmeg today was fifthly, would have loved him to score that.
We've never had it so good. Realistically we're going to be absolutely fine this season. Obviously Quique and the players can't take that mindset but as fans we are now in a position where we can sit back and just enjoy our first season back in the Premier League. To be able to say that in early December is fantastic.
After all the sh ite I've sat through over the years, I'm getting increasingly annoyed about not getting to be part of this. QSF has done a fabulous job, and listening to 3CR, sounded as though Capoue, Britos & Iggy had great games
