Oh yea I remember now, think we were going to wait or something but then wanted him a bit earlier so paid some money..

It's great to have Behrami waiting to reclaim his place, it would be a shame to buy a player in that position this January in some ways, although im probably saying that cos im still buzzing after the win and drank to much Tuborg.

Danny Murphy was very complimentary about the Britos/Cathcart axis.

First game this season for various family reasons. Nothing new to say but:
    - Ighalo is a menace, not sure how he got in shooting positions sometimes today, I'd be waiting for the defender to clear when suddenly Ighalo was shooting!
    - Him and Deeney rarely stop running - I've not seen a Watford team defend from front to back so well before
    - Capoue - some of his touches are ludicrous; he is just a great joy to watch!
    - We are 9th! Was quietly confident, but never thought we'd do this well - and deservedly so!
Roll on the tough Xmas games, time to beat someone at the top!!!

    Just in.

    A couple of comments:

    - Capoue is a magician with the ball ... our modern day John Barnes.
    - Jurado's best game for us so far ... a bit unlucky with his control during the first 10 minutes or so but from then on got stronger.
    - Ighalo - tenacious throughout. Wouldn't be surprised if a silly offer came in for him in January ... Man U, Spurs, West Ham maybe?
    - Mike Dean was poor. What makes him qualified to decide a head injury to Capoue doesn't immediately require a medical assessment?
    - Norwich were yet another team that had an off-day at our hands. Funny how frequently these things occur ...
    - 9th! Let's enjoy our nose-bleed.

From where I was I thought he asked Capoue if he needed the physio or not. Which makes sense given only one person knows how Capoue was feeling...

Was Alex Neil watching a different game? ... http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/14126825.Neil___Watford_are_compact_and_very_direct__They_re_good_at_what_they_do_/?

We could should have had five. Igahalo pulled up wrongly for offside when clean through, a great goal wrongly disallowed and a blatant pen not given in the second half. And that's on top of numerous other great chances we created only to be foiled by the keeper or a last ditch block. And what did Naarch offer? ... virtually nothing, we hammered them.

I'd give Capoue MOM with Iggy close behind. Capoue nicking the ball off that Titty fella and putting Iggy away for the (definite) pen was what changed the game. Might well have been one of those nasty 0-0 games in bad conditions otherwise. As others have said, his all around game again today was marvellous - created so much for us, whilst at the same time breaking up so many of their attacks.

I was surprised to hear criticism of Gomes - I thought he had an excellent game despite being a doubt beforehand. Not an easy day for a keeper with the ball moving around in the wind. Dealt very well with that tricky shot they had which swerved and bounced just in front of him. Excellent game.

As for Alex Neill's claim that there was nothing between the teams:-

"Hey Alex! There's something on your face. Wipe your face mate, there's something on it. Some dirt or something. Give it a wipe. Hey Alex!"

Nice to see somebody who isn't convinced by Jurado admit he had a good game. Too many have made their mind up so no matter how he plays he is rubbish. I thought he played very well when he started to drift in to the middle. Come on fellas, he may not have been a revelation but credit him when he does play well

Nice to see Bassong had knew how to stop our forwards. Ighalo barely had a sniff. Alex Neil, take the canary yellow spectacles off, you were never in the game and should have lost by a bigger margin. Good to see Jurado get some praise that he deserved. Got some tough games coming up but I reckon we will still get a few points from Spurs Liverpool Chelsea and City. None of them look unbeatable. I'm having to calm myself when I notice we're 10 points clear of 18th and 4 away from a European spot!!!!

  14. Britos wasn't free, he was half an Allan, who was / will be a £15m + player

You can't really class Ighalo and Nyom free either

What I love about Alex Neil is he's obviously read that thing about treating triumph and disaster the same. He's equally churlish whether they win or lose.

Sounds to me like he's starting to worry about his job so is trying to talk up his team's performance.

Udinese had put as price tag for Allan 16M€ or so.

The deal finally was 11M€ cash to Udinese, Britos to WFC, Duvan Zapata 2 years on loan to Udinese.
So the "price" paid for Britos as part of the deal would be between 2-5M€ (depending if Zapata's loan is free and we just pay his wages or has a heavy price like Vydra's).

  23. Pretty sure Alan went to Napoli in exchange for Zapata, Britos and some cash. Sherlock if he reads this can confirm.

    Oops beaten to it :)

The funny thing is that this horribly complex transaction went well for all.
Allan is playing better then ever in a Napoli fighting for the title: the usual incredible holding midfielder and 3 goals and 3 assists too.
    Udinese had decent cash.
Zapata, before he was blocked by an unfortunate long-term injury (back on field in February probably) had 3 goals and 1 assist in just 410' played and helped a lot in the difficult beginning of season of Udinese.
Britos after long time on the bench is now doing great.

    Likewise.

He clearly is a very talented player. Some people take longer to adapt to a new league and country.

Confidence is so huge in sport, you only have to look at Hazard,Matic and other Chelsea players for that to be proven.

He seems to be improving and I am happy to give him more time to make an impact.QSF clearly rates him and he seems to be doing ok!

Jurado is the only player who is always looking to play the ball on the floor. Sometimes others aren't giving him great options so tends to ensure we keep possession by keeping it simple. When the likes of Ake got into good advanced positions he'd often find them with a good / very good pass. I think one of the problems is that we are currently going a little more direct than suits him. Actually Capoue gets regularly frustrated with the lack of passing options through midfield but that is currently how we are setting up and for the time being it is working well with results.

There was a sign in the second half of a very good balance being built up between direct and using Jurado for buildup in midfield. I actually think he is one of the most talented players we have. He will come good. Would be nice for a change to not have idiots in the stand calling for him to be subbed after 10 minutes though.

I have complete and utter faith in QSF and the whole management/ownership set-up now - what they've achieved is quite amazing, and although some of what goes on still baffles me, I have to face the probability that I'm not a football manager for a few very good reasons.

If QSF sees a combination of Jurado, Anya and Paredes as the way forward, I'm now obliged to go along with that and overlook their apparent failings - after all, it would be virtually impossible to keep winning in the PL whilst carrying three passengers. QSF has proved beyond doubt that he knows best.

I've just applied for my 'Happy Clapper's' membership card, and I'm hoping it arrives before the Sunderland match. :sign15:

Yes, I wasn't being critical, it's just that the OP mentioned both Jurado and Britos in the opening line, and wonders if our approach will be a "masterstroke" or a "disaster" - there follows several pages of debate - to which I think yesterday's game gives some answers.
