Well there's plenty where you incorrectly claim (based on Chumlax's post and pretty much all the clear indications) that they don't get enough chances:

"I don’t see us create very much at all in the final third. "

"But let’s stop making out we create a load of opportunities"

"whoever comes in for them will be living off scraps"

 

Thought We were poor today against a Huddersfield side with literally zero threat and not much better in the 2nd half . Credit to Cleverley for chasing go that ball down brilliantly and the second goal was a greasy move and excellent from Pedro to get on the end of it .


I’m not sure what the answer is upfront . I still actually believe in a free flowing attacking side where he was getting plenty of opportunities that Gray would score quite a few , but clearly at the moment he’s not what we need, as he doesn’t contribute anything if he doesn’t score .

Deeney has had a couple of good games and has been largely ineffective.


Maybe we need to start with Pedro upfront and either zincy or Hughes behind for some creativity . Sarr and Sema wide. I think we might stutter to the playoffs but unlikely to get autos unless we solve the attacking issues.

i thought Hughes looked good when he came on . I like Chalobah , think he protects the back four well but Hughes doesn’t give the ball away which helps us build attacks better , would like to see Hughes play on the more attacking role ideally though .

Zincy had some good moments but didn’t really have time to make an impact .

Weird selection to start off with, Chalobah and Deeney should be on the bench. Thought we did ok, we werent really troubled at all. It must be in Deeneys contract that he plays or gets paid more money if he doesnt or something, no other logical conclusion as to why he is starting for me. Oh and can someone tell Sarr to play to the whistle please.

I would have played that line up but with Hughes in instead of Chalobah and Zinckernagel in in place of Deeney.

 

Somebody already alluded to this in text format but just in case anyone hasn't seen it writ large yet:

Pedro cant play up front on his own, he is too lightweight for that at this stage of his career. None of our strikers can do that well enough. If its Deeney and Pedro up top then that will have to do if the results remain positive.

 

I think it is a contract thing, either he has to play or he gets paid more money if he doesnt.

There were few in the shoutbox saying he’d played well and had a good game, which further to my point, if his instructions from Munoz were simply ‘chest the ball down and lay it off’, then yeah he had an ok game.

Personally as our centre forward i’d much prefer he concentrated on getting the round thing in the net.

 

I also said in amongst those comments;

If we did make them I wouldn’t back them to put them away.

You must have accidentally missed that bit.

 

My original claim which you pulled me up on was that there are enough opportunities in our games for any half-competent striker to score more.

Your original criticism was that you didn't think there were enough opportunities.

However, there is clear evidence that our strikers have plenty of opportunities.

 

Last update this week he wasn't even back running/training yet. I wouldn't rely on seeing him anytime soon. He's basically a non-contributor this season, sadly.

 

Edit: I meant to say Zinc should interchange in a free role with all the other forwards including Pedro throughout the game.

Yes - I thought T-E 's passing looked particularly poor today.

 

In fairness John McC rarely found a team mate and often found the Rous or Main Stand ( GT or SEJ if you prefer).

Exactly this. Stick one of our centre backs up there.

Deeney and Gray are beyond useless. They actually make us worse. Anyone would be better. Literally anyone. Even my 84 year old dad.

 

Think his face is cutting off the 'minus' symbol.

 

Has he even shown glimpses of that? Dominate here and there but be a bit inconsistent? No. He's got a few goals and assists from one or two moments, but nothing that a 2.5m winger wouldn't consider it his job description to contribute.

He's a terrible piece of business and the judgment used in signing him directly contributed to our relegation and to the mounting debt we expect to see on our next set of accounts.

 

Exactly what I have been harping on about. I think it would work well with the players interchanging positions, especially Sarr and Zinckernagel. It might even be interesting to watch.

Sad, but unequivocally true.

Deeney shouldn’t actually be playing football anymore, I genuinely don’t think he’d score goals at a any level of football because he’s so slow and immobile now.

Literally chuck anyone up there who still has the basic pre-requisites of a footballer and they couldn’t do a worse job.
