Vs REFEREE: Robert Madley ASSISTANT: TBA FOURTH OFFICIAL: TBA DATE: 12th September 2015 Past Meetings - @ Watford Watford 10 Draw 4 Swansea 6 Watford Goals: 31 Swansea Goals: 22 Hopefully we can have a repeat of the 1947/48 result. Wednesday 3rd Sep 1947 Watford 4 - 1 Swansea Tn. Third Division (South) Predicted Line-Ups Fantasy Football Swansea OUT: Barrow DOUBTS: Montero Watford OUT: Angella (Loan), Vydra (Loan), Layun (Loan), Fabrinni (Loan), Murray (Loan) DOUBTS: N/A BANNED: Britos Prediction This is a big test for Flores. We are facing the team that, arguably, we want to emulate. Swansea play an attractive passing style which culminates in a pacey winger on one side and an inside forward on the other. They have a very in form striker at the moment in Gomis. He scored the winner in Swansea's last game against Manchester United. Watford have added three players on deadline day and I would argue that only one is a guaranteed starter - Ibarbo. The 'FIFA superstar' comes in on loan from Cagliari. He will play a similar role to the that of Routledge; make direct runs down the wing to create space for the likes of Ighalo and Jurado to find space. Against City we played a 4-6-0 in the first half; which worked wonderfully. Deeney and Ighalo played on the wingers to track Manchester City's wing backs. Only the wizardry of Pelligrini, swapping Silva and Sterling, was the difference between the teams. We were poor going forward, but when you are playing the best team in England, it makes sense to reduce space for them to play in. I can see this being another defensive display from Watford but, now with the added pace of Ibarbo, I think we will be very strong on the counter. Watford 1-1 Swansea Architecture
I'm more worried about this game than any of the previous four. Granted we were going to lose at Man City. I have a feeling this is Swansea's year to massively overachieve and challenge the top 6. Gomis is on fire. Ayew has bagged goals already. Shelvey is an excellent player (although his 'off days' are really awful). Williams is a solid Centre Half. If we win this I'll be over the moon. Heart says 1-1. Head says 1-2
If Swansea keep going as they have started they might sneak a top 6 Tough game, I'd be happy with a draw although I know that will send social media and this forum into meltdown about Vydra and Fessi once again
Draw would be a very good result, realistically. Vicarage Road could get poisonous if we go behind early.
Any chance of adding a poll about the result to this thread? I'd like to see who's in the majority - the unwavering disciples of QSF or the doom-mongers!
He quite clearly is referring to who is a starter from the 3 players signed on deadline day , not the whole squad
I know we've got almost a whole week, but I'm going with this team (providing everyone gets back from their respective international games unscathed): Gomes; Nyom, Cathcart, Prodl, Anya; Behrami, Capoue; Jurado, Ighalo, Ibarbo; Deeney SUBS: Arlauskis, Hoban, Holebas, Watson, Guedioura, Abdi, Oulare Watford 1-1 Swansea. We will come away from this game with a point we don't deserve, and we shall be grateful for it.
as Layton said, I think Ibarbo is the only one of the three deadline transfers to get a start as I think Oulare will be a impact sub, or part of a front two if we need height, and Guedioura will have to displace Behrami or Capoue in the current 4-2-3-1 system!
I'd play Guedi at right midfield and either leave out Jurado or put him in the middle in place of Igloo. But Florrie never takes any notice of my views.
Last night I dreamt that we lost to Swansea. I got a bus home and Flores was on the bus. I asked him why he kept insisting on playing one up front and why he couldn't see it wasn't working. He didn't really have an answer and went very quiet. Worrying times, especially as I never get a bus.
Yea I'll be surprised if Ibarbo doesn't start alongside Iggy & Jurado in the 3 behind Troy. Anya or Holebas at LB will be interesting. The word is QFS sees Pep more as an attacking MF, although obviously he can cover DM. He probably won't start against the Sheep Enthusiasts but I think that when he does eventually get on the field, whenever that is, he'll be used in one of the advanced positions.
TBH I'd forgotten about Abdi, as he hasn't featured much. Presumably Florrie has too. But I suppose this is all premature as we don't know what the other newcomers will bring to the party, if anything. I know who I like and who I'm not keen on, but the sample of games seen this season is still very small and I might be wrong. There again, so might Florrie.
We are playing defensively at home and away and aiming to beat the 2 weakest teams in the division to stay up. Maybe if we are lucky we will play one upfront and he might not even have defensive duties. But with the others ordered not to leave their own half and to pass sideways or hoof to a target man who ain't one we won't have many chances. They'll be booing but 0-0 is a good result and that is our strategy this season
Feel confident Prodl can deal with Gomis as he's done very well against Lukaku, Lambert and Pelle. Think we'll be solid and probably score ( hopefully Deeney) but so will they . 1-1. Fancy us to get a win against Newcastle next week, despite them being one of the , if not the , biggest club in the world.. That would mean 4 points from our next 2 games which would be very decent .
Really excited about this game. The international break has been unbelievably dull and I'm looking forward to the real football resuming. If I'm honest I don't think we'll win, but I fancy us to stay unbeaten at fortress Vic. Will go 1-1 - we have to score right? I'm sure that elusive first win is just around the corner. We'll beat Newcastle.
If a shot is blocked by a defender (or your own player), it does not count, rightly, because it means that you have not had a clear sight on goal. If you have miss a sitter from 2 yards, it does not count. If you let the ball go through your legs, it does not count.
I'd play: Gomes Nyom Prodl Cathcart Holebas Behrami Capoue Jurado Abdi Ibarbo Deeney I imagine it will be this team with Ighalo in the hole. Perhaps with pace however, there will be less need to go through the middle and Ighalo might receive the ball higher up the field, allowing him to get involved.
So if there's a defender on the goal line and a shot deflects in off him it's not an own goal but if he stops it on the line it's not on target? .... what kind of pretzel logic is this?
No, it would be. Shot on target Any goal attempt that: a) Goes into the net b) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's save c) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man. Source - Opta
