It's been many years since I last read anything by Hans Christian Anderson, but I don't remember anyone being 'ar$e raped' in the Emperor's New Clothes. I'll read it again now though
The pop-up picture book of that tale is, quite frankly, undervalued err, I mean, erm, absolute filth and should be banned.
Interesting list, thanks for that. Surprised Blackburn and Huddersfield are the only teams in the top two tiers we've never met in the FA Cup (and no, MK Dongs don't count whether or not you consider them the continuation of Wimbledon!).
Well I remember that bit - they just told the Emperor they were checking if the pockets of his new trousers had any holes in...
Wycombe Wanderers, local rivals. Thrashed them 1-0 in League Cup a few seasons ago with a brilliant Chris Iwelumo pile driver, but never met in FA Cup? Seems like a lifetime ago, a different era compared to the alternative universe we inhabit now ...
Beat them 2-0 in the 2nd round season 59/60.. a healthy 23,907 at Vicarage Road to see that one. But surely they do count if you dont consider them the continuation of Wimbledon?
Can't believe we managed to get this thread on to bum sex yet almost immediately someone switches back to old FA Cup results! I give up!
Well it's a compliment even not coming from then - when was the last time since 1987 we were ANY better than a Championship side? Certainly not the last two seasons we were in the Prem, that's for sure! They don't count because I don't consider them a proper club.
I remember this game well. It was a very satisfying day on our way to a trophy you boys can still only dream about. Personally, I think you'll never taste glory anything like it, and midtable mediocrity will be the pinnacle of your ambitions for the rest of your stay in the top flight. We'll fare better when we go up, as we have an infrastructure that can only be envied, really horribly jealously envied, by a club with your capabilities and potential. Did you see that our attendance yesterday was more than you'll ever be able to fit in your stadium? I'm not boasting, especially after we lost 1-5, but simply pointing out just one of your many inadequacies that will inevitably cap any future potential you might think you have. Believe it or not, I actually hope you beat Dirty Leeds. By rights, a club of your stature should be the underdogs, and that's exactly how most neutral observers will not be able to help feeling about you as you face a fallen giant who are still a MUCH more prestigious club than little Watford, admirably plucky though you are. :sign15:
What's the difference between a mini cab and the MK Dons? A mini cab will only let in 4 (unless it's a people carrier, but that doesn't work)
I don't know why you're being so smug. To get to the heights you aspire to above you need to stay in your division first, which is still looking far from a certainty at the moment (and it's not that remote a possibility you and AFC Wimbledon will be playing in the same division next season). It's the old Wimbledon I still retain a great deal of respect for, a club much like us, despised by the media and many neutral/oppo fans, sticking thumbs up at the aristocrats of football and achieving incredible success against the odds. Not the Winkelstein's monster they morphed into...
MK Donkey is a nob of epic proportions. I put him on ignore several years ago. His own family have disowned him as well.
Or maybe he's thinking 'puck and pea' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...g-snorted-meow-meow-face-wife-stands-him.html
What I can't understand is why a supporter of another club would post 235 times on a Watford forum - Besides the obvious identity crisis that is in MKD's DNA, is it jealousy? Is it inferiority complex? Is it some form of bipolar syndrome with highs only experienced on our forum? I hope it's not drugs. Just weird ???
I agree it's a very strange post......I don't think there is a grasp of the fact that the English football pyramid is a meritocracy, generally you are where you deserve to be based on the quality of your evolving squad and management in the medium to long term. Possession of an identibowl stadium which you can fill on the odd occasion doesn't give you an automatic elevation to the PL. As for "infrastructure" well the relegation zone in the PL is currently occupied by three of the most massive "infrastructures" in English football. One thing to be grateful for - just imagine how often he would be on here if we were struggling.......
Milton Keynes had a football club albeit non league, they destroyed two clubs in creating the franchise they have. They will never be anything but a plastic hollow franchise followed by 'fans' that either followed another club or didn't like football before MK were set up. They even stole the 'Dons' name off Wimbledon which is rubbing it in a little I think, they are so desperate for a rival as they feel it will somehow legitimise them as a club.. 'MK_Donny' who did you support prior to the football club in Milton Keynes you support being formed?
Mk Dongy, I admit you may have a nice new stadium, but get used to only ever seeing it full when you get a good draw in the cup. Plucky old Watford could build a new stadium by the time you could ever dream of reaching the premier league. Get planning your camping trip to the Lake District as you'll be playing Carlisle United before your hosting the big clubs like plucky Watford.
Quick observation. When the Dons goal went in on Sunday they panned to the crowd. Not only were those standing barely clapping, but 50% of the people they pointed the camera at remained in their seats. My educated guess, knowing a few people that live in MK, is that they attend these games as they would a village fete, when they can think of literally nothing else to do with their family on a Sunday, but in reality would rather be fixing a broken fence panel in the garden. God bless proper Wimbledon in league 2.
I noticed that. Looked more like families at a junior school sports day than a football crowd. MKD will never be more than one man's folly
My educated guess is that a lot of them are the same as quite a few people i know from the MK area. That is they have always supported someone else.. but their kids have insisted on going to see 'the new club in town' which to be fair is the local club for many of those youngsters. I mean what are you supposed to say to your kids? "**** off that goes against my moral objections to moving a football club"? No of course not, you say "What times's the kick off?" My father for instance was a Spurs fan.. but when my parents moved 'up country' he took me and my brother to see all the local clubs (Oxford, Watford and one other.. cant remember who!) Anyway we ended choosing Watford and thank god our father didnt insist we followed Spurs!
The tv games will be: Chelsea vs city bbc shrewsbury vs man utd tottenam vs palace bournemouth vs everton
What a very strange person you must be! If,as this post suggests, you were a Wimbledon fan in 1988 why on earth aren't you now? All the others stuck by their club and helped it in its hour of need, they didn't jump ship and up sticks. Very odd.
