Watford fans don't do that. They'll be down the front begging for signatures on their shirts the majority of them.
There is absolutely zero chance of getting promoted under Ivic. More than enough time to build a system that works. Can't attack, can't defend, can't retain possession. But it will be too late before we do anything about it.
The ref was bad yes, but that's not an excuse. That performance was lethargic, halfarsed and pathetic. Cardiff did exactly what I knew they would do. Sit back and ride it out. They could of gone off for 10mins SH and we still would not of scored. Sarr did well, good balls to thin air but not his fault our strikers move at a snail's pace. I am getting a bit sick of this mentality Ivic has on saying bad performance but does nothing about it next game, he has no plan b and Cardiff knew what we would do and took their chance. In a way I am glad we lost our home record today. Now it might wake a few of the players up about giving a sh!te on match day. Preston and Lootown aside we have been very poor in so many games. Ivic likes a 1-0, well today he got one. I feel very sorry for @HappyHornet24 and anyone else who had to sit through that tripe. Ivic must be on thin ice now, and he has a squad capable of much more, but is not getting the best out of them. This is becoming a running trend now. Hughes looked good, as another small positive. We have Rotherham next, anything but a convincing win and he is on a last orders, vote of confidence tier. I am sick of his fish moody face, obviously the players have lost faith, so one more bad performance might be the end. Bristol City aside all teams around us won or picked up points. Very bad day today, problem is, I fear we are now in a downward spiral.
Just got back to check the result. Not a pretty check. Didnt see the game. Oh well at least Gray wont get the blame this time. Ivic needs his star striker back soon by the look of it. League wise out of the top 6 but still in the hunt. On to the next one.
Thing is, we have enough time to get someone new in and gate their system to actually get us promoted. Leave it much longer and that window closes too.
I’ve reached the line with Ivic now, he has to go. I think a limited squad with limited players can play in certain formations and be effective. We absolutely have got players that are better than the majority of the trash in the league, we don’t need a manager wedded to specific systems, we need a manager to come in and make the most of the players we’ve got and play to their strengths, irrespective of what formation that is. You can see the players have talent but are clueless as to what to do. Ok, it didn’t last and ultimately failed but Pearson came in, pushed Docuore forward and basically said give the ball to Gerry or Sarr. As far as PPG are concerned, it worked. We need someone who can do the same, **** the bloody formation it’s not important
>1/4 of the season gone, I think it now fair to judge. We’re not going up this year. I’m dumbfounded with the continual chopping and changing and choice of players and formation. Biggest problem though is how slow we are in transition - it’s painful to watch. We should have gone and got Zola back in the summer.
Hughes looked better than most which says it all! Sarr and Pedro got bullied out of the game and Deeney too slow.
Why are we always cursed with set-piece takers? Garner's deliveries (bar one) today were absolutely dreadful.
It’s the second game in a row where that particular poster is adamant Sarr played well and put quality balls in, very very odd behaviour.
Can we just save ourselves some time and skip to the part where Ivic gets fired? I don't expect us to win/not lose every game this season but I do expect us to have some sort of gameplan and positive approach to this league
Keep up Burnsy lol I’ve been calling him that for a few weeks now. He’s inherited a squad with at least some attacking talent (although not as good as some want you to believe) and managed to negate most of it by his negative tactics and formations. He’s sucking all the positivity and energy and enjoyment from what could have been a fun season, against a backdrop of very trying times for all of us.
Thought the ref looked a **** at the start and was proved right. This team is appalling and Ivic needs to get a job doing something he knows.
Not sure they can get rid of Ivic. Any decent manager would want assurances about the squad. Will Deeney, Sarr Capone, et al still be here Feb 1? I don’t think the signs are promising. So they may be stuck with him unless they can find another inexperienced hopeful going cheap.
Very easy to blame one person for players not following instructions(he tells us in his press conferences how he wants us to play)and owners letting the players do very little for loads of money. The players got relegated for a reason. We have had so many managers/coaches for a reason. He made changes in the second half and we were better.Obviously players have to be rested because they cannot play 3 games every 8 days indefinitely. The squad is not even close to being what most thought it was.The players are only good enough if they put the effort in.Troy and EC have shown you can still get paid for doing nothing but talk nonsense in the press or watch basketball. Yes the buck will stop with Ivic but unless the players start acting professionally any replacement won't do any better. I don't think the "we are too good for this league" mentality of our players(granted not all)will change.
Cannot believe how poor Sarr has been in the past few games. So lethargic, negative and passing it backwards whenever he receives the ball - although you could copy + paste that sentence and apply it to the whole squad for that game. It might be that the opposition have sussed us and man-marked him out the game but I can't help but wonder if we'll ever get even a quarter of what was offered for him (£40m???) last summer based on previous performances.
Have to agree......today was the tipping point for me. I felt he Ivic was being very lucky getting the results he got at home. So many things went our way to paper over the cracks. Away form is so bad and now this at home. Just look at the recent results. Only 3 wins from the last 10 games. Only 1 win from the last 5. Failed to score in 6 of the 16 games. We've played over a quarter of matches and now sit outside of the playoffs. We really should be the dominant force in this league with the players we have, and that should be showing by now. We are anything but that. Once again, we concede the first goal and it's game over. The only chance we had was in the 94th minute when Perica headed over a simple chance. It's so bad it's laughable. No doubt more excuses will be given......the same reasons and reflective thought will be rolled out, but time is running out now. I can't see Ivic turning it around because he's far too cautious.
Not good enough for someone we want 40 million for .. Maybe frustrated by the tactics and style of play.
He’s rubbish and extremely thick. Had plenty of chances to get away from his man and get into the box but would rather fall over and get a free kick for Garner to waste, brain dead. He could genuinely send us under as a club, he’ll be worth **** all at the end of the season and we’ll have no way to plug the gap down the next level of parachute money.
He's not - but he is not the right sort of player for a team like us, plus he clearly isn't tough enough for this division. He's a proper winger not a midfielder so he takes up a spot in our already slow ponderous (lazy) midfield.
Simply not good enough in possession. We move the ball so slowly, especially in the midfield. Really dont get all the hype from some quarters about Garner. In two games running we've had 60% possession and created a grand total of 3 shots on target, which speaks volumes. Feminia needs to be starting, we offer much more threat with him getting forward down the right. Sarr needs to be doing more than falling over appealing for fouls. Deeney needs to be far more central, especially in the box and balls into the box need to delivered alot earlier. I cant accuse the players for a lack of effort but there does need to be better application and far greater urgency
You know, I reckon ANY experienced championship level manager would have got us more points than Ivic.
Deserved defeat. Looked like men against boys to be fair. They had us to a tee and our discipline was waning as the game had gone on. Sean Morrison and Kieffer Moore were giants in that game. Millwall 2017 springs to mind, with a Harris side. Prem club that is over confident. We haven't had mentality that since the days of Martin Taylor and Sean Dyche! Even with Zola we had to strike a balance between overconfidence and discipline. We still do not have that. Discipline.
I've just watched the highlights of our Liverpool win. Brings tears knowing how good we can play when minds are right....
