"Obi Metzger’s two goals – including a long-range stunner against Korea - saw the striker live up to his pre-finals billing, while the defensive work of Umaru Bangura kept the often-times ragged rearguard in some semblance of shape.
Barlay and Bangura are both outstanding players,” said Sierra Leone head coach Musa Kallon about his starlets. “And I will do everything I can to push them even higher in the world of football.”

"Innleid fra Watford" I'm guessing means on loan from watford.

Well he seems like he is becoming quite a player. Only another year until he has Norweigan nationality and can play for us :D

It's so weird we own him and have done for a while yet he's never worn the yellow shirt and he just continues at H*nefoss in the second best Norwegian league - no talk of moving him to a club in the best league there.

Oh well, presumable someone knows what's going on.

I'm guessing it's like what you can do on the new football manager. Buy a player who doesn't have a work permit then send them off to some foreign club on loan for a couple of years until they get that nationality and can play for us.

Surely someone within these boards can shed some light on this issue? Come on, there must be somebody out there in the know!

I guess it's like Liverpool did with Mark Gonzales?

In theory, yes. But Liverpool were perfectly open about the arrangement they had with the Spanish club, whereas Watford have been playing secret signings for the past 18 months. Why they just can't say "he's ours but we have to do this for reasons of immigration" I don't know.

If the player comes from outside of the EU they need a work permit which is based on international appearences (or something like that) but if the player is a youngster then he would not necessary have played for the national team and would find it extremly diffacult to get a work permit here. But if the player goes to a club in the EU for 3 years he get that countries nationallity and no longer requires a work permit.

Al bangura didn't need to do this as he lived in France so had french nationality so no work permit needed.

All I can say was the conversation I had with Graham Simpson 2 years ago he is the dogs Bullocks, but we need to have the correct paperwork for him to be an official Watford player, that is why he is abroad.

I think it is only 2 years for Norweigan nationality. Plus the rule is he gets the work permit if he has played 75% of games for his country in the past 12 months. Well it seems he is playing pretty reguarly for them. Maybe we will get him sooner than expected? I'm looking for either this time next year or even perhaps in the summer if he has played enough internationals.

Does anyone know if the loan can be revoked ? If so, once he gets enough Internationals under his belt he could potentially be recalled and we would get an extra transfer outside the window.

Then again, if ****** and DeMerit are both fit, I don't think we need another central defender... he would only be needed for cover at the moment.

He will probably walk staright into the tea, within two weeks of his arrival. He can play anywhere at the back and as Dougie said"is reported to be the dogs tastycles"

Depends if it is in the contract. It can be a clause and I'm guessing we have made it one with this situation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but..............

I don't think Norway are in the EU

So why is he on loan to a Norwegian team

Although Norway is not part of the EU, it has signed on to the Shengen accord that governs labour laws and immigration across the EU (and by extension, Norway) and is part of the European Free Trade Association.

Thus, I suspect that as far as employment is concerned, Norway is functionally a part of the EU.

Of course, Aidy might have simply confused Norway and Finland. It's all cold and dark oop thar in darkest Scandinavia and Sweden is the one with all the dishy birds that sauna nude with strangers. At least, according to the movies I watch...

Yes you are correct in what say about Norway and the EU, but incorrect in saying that Finland is in Scandinavia. They are a Nordic country but do not speak a Scandic language as do Norway ,Sweden ,Denmark and Iceland they have their own language Suomi which is nearest to Hungarian I think.

One of the most surprising signings of all time. What happened to signing Sharp etc ??

    Picky picky !

Next thing, you'll be saying that Cardiff is not in England. And we know it must be since they have a chance of being promoted to the English Premier League (as the American TV stations are so fond of calling it).

And, it seems, the league themselves are also fond of calling it, what with it being it's name and all...

"Premiership" is an invention of SKY.

So do we need international clearance to buy players from Cardiff ? Or do Cardiff need international clearance to buy players from their local sunday league teams ?

Pedantic bores want to know !

A pretty pathetic attempt at trying to cover up your error me thinks

How could you possibly mistake EU for Europe, I think someone is telling porkies, and really thought Norway are in the EU

yes, you are correct about the Hungarian connection.

But i also think Estonia has that Hungariamn langauge connection - so now maybe i am not so sure about Finland.

Someone asked about IC, I went and found out. If it doesn't interest you that's fair but several people did so I don't catch your drift ???

You're the guy saying it's the Americans who are fond of saying it, yet it's the actual name of the league. Nothing to do with being a pedant and more to do with actually knowing stuff  You should try it sometime...
