Would be good to have prem football back at the Vic but would they be prepared to cover the disinfectant cost ?

Yup, unfortunately far too sensibly run these days which is infuriating.

 

Got a stadium good enough to play at home on the opening day of a new season, you'll never sing that.

 

It was clear for years their ground was barely fit for League 1, they chose to do nothing.

Remember when Fulham first went up, they groundshared with QPR for a year while they got their ground PL ready, very sensible. So why didn't they? They could easily have approached MK Dons and come to an arrangement for one season. But they decided to finally do something about the Kennel.

As they say, you can't polish a turd.

 

But you can roll it in glitter.

They had to fund it by selling a piece of land near the M1 that only got planning at the end of 2021. They were punting that land around the market for a few years beforehand

 

All we've got left is that we have an ok stadium and theirs is a ********.

Seen lots of Watford fans saying stuff like 'they're going to beat Derby's record low points total' and wonder when people will learn.

Last season it was:

- they've lost Nathan Jones, ha ha, he's the glue that kept them together
- they've appointed Rob Edwards, nice guy but he's not going to be able to get them up
- they'll bottle getting in the play offs
- Sunderland are the worst match up for them
- Coventry will beat them
- hahaha, winning goal ruled out

They probably will go down but guessing they'll put up a much better fight than we did last time around and will do so in such a way that they are well positioned to challenge again the following season.

 

I’m waiting for their ‘charge around like wild dervishes’ approach to result in going down to 9 men in the first two matches….

 

I thought there were issues with the new stadium. seems to have been dragging on for a while.

 

They won't have the energy or fitness to charge around anything after their first close season with Rob.

 

I believe work is under way, and that the plan is to have it ready sometime in 2026.

 

Genuinely surprised they didn't ask if they could ground share with MK Dongs.

How have I never known that Hemel's crest is a cheaply-rendered cross-eyed portrait of Henry VIII?!?!

 

Their chairman is the sort of bloke who puts "Watford are sh*t" hidden in the program notes. This debacle is exactly what people like him end up with.

 

We can mock but it's absolutely galling that they will be in the premiership with the manager we deemed not good enough.

 

I think any of us, who dare criticise the Scummers, should get this tattooed across their forehead.

 

This is a one year interlude for Luton. Have you seen who they've signed so far this window? League 1/2 prospects and cloggers. I think it's fair to say they have no interest in staying up, although to be fair, I respect that.

 

And 38 yo Ashley Young. Before he signed for perennial window idiots Everton

 

If they sign King, he will probably go and bang in 15 goals for them.

 

Anyone checked our programme notes to see if there are any hidden messages from Gino? Like "You are all idiots"

 

Frankly, if this one season finances the building of their new stadium, then fair play.

 

Quite honestly, that would be the smart move. Invest the money in infrastructure and inexpensive players who will work at a lower level, because the chances of surviving in the Prem for any length of time as a smaller club are remote. Accept the relegation and, if by some miracle you survive, unexpected bonus.

For all that Norwich fans lambasted their owners/board for their old yo-yo approach, I think it's the sensible one for smaller clubs. Anything else and you'll eventually come down with massive, unserviceable debts.

 

I think that would require far more self awareness than Gino possesses.

 

This isn't just sour grapes but they genuinely played awful, uninspiring football last season. It wasn't too dissimilar to what we saw under Edwards ourselves but the players didn't have the motivation to work for the ball here. I just can't imagine it being effective in the Premier League where the quality is so much greater and teams will tear you apart and pull you out of position all over the pitch. You can guarantee they'll bloody a few noses at home though.
