Thank goodness for that. 90% possession and aimless crosses until Pulisic scored. I cannot believe I am supporting Chelsea. A few more please to dent the goal difference thanks.

Lampard obviously had a quick word in his mate's ear at HT.

Well, other than Brighton winning, a fairly successful first round of fixtures for us.

Yeah, and you’d probably be able to argue that we have the better fixture coming up in the next round of games, when taking into account Burnley play us on shorter rest following what you’d expect to be a tough outing on Monday.

    Tottenham vs. West Ham
    Newcastle vs. Villa
    Wolves vs. Bournemouth

All played before we meet Burnley on Thursday. Not inconceivable that all fail to pick up points before we play, and give us a chance to create a little distance between us and them.

Phew - just seen the final score.

Really - I would expect Dychey to 'throw' the Man City game fielding his 'B' team and focus on the more winnable fixture against us.

Spuds should beat Spam. Wolves should be too good for Muff. Villa worries me, despite their good result today, Newcastle are like us, very inconsistent.

The Pool draw is good for us today - means there's a decent chance that they might still need to get something from their Villa game in 3 fixtures time to clinch the title.

Surely not? I’d imagine that if I cared enough to look it up, there will be quotes from Dyche somewhere about him never disrespecting the game by fielding a weakened side. Just like they never dive. Or complain to the ref.....

Don't think that really matters tbf, they know they have it wrapped up, didn't play all their big guns yesterday anyway

Fairly confident Wolves will do the business, can never trust Tottenham though, they're just as bad as Arsenal (who admittedly did the double over West Ham lol). Newcastle surprisingly bringing out the total football against Sheffield United, who, ghost goal or no ghost goal, had looked awful against Villa, so I'm hopeful about that, but of course they're never fully reliable

Salah and Robertson were both injured though.

    They played everyone else.

Oh, I didn't realise they were injured, I thought they were being rested/rotated. Don't think they'll start changing their team en masse after they secure the title, they'll still want the record point total, and there'll be plenty of opportunities for the youngsters anyway with 5 subs

Sky Sports Liverpool showed that video package about Wednesday night being the night Liverpool could win the title. What a waste of time that was. Long shot but I hope Palace beat them to be honest.

Hate City cynical fouls. Vydra breaks and even at 4-0 it’s in the DNA to do the cynical foul. Making all tug back fouls reds would be a good rule change.

Then Fodden score and moans about a foul not given!

Guess it's that easy for them.

Vydra would be a good foil to Deeney still. They had a synergy. You can see the greyhound in Vydra ready to go. Gray has done reasonably well picking up on Deeney's knockdowns and flicks but his finishing is less than Matej. Poor decision in hindsight to let him go.

We also need to be looking long term to see who will replace Troy. He cannot go on forever and replacing him will be incredibly hard for all he contributes on and off the pitch. Foxes and Spurs double please tonight. They still have everything to play for. West Ham look in a terrible state. Perhaps we can pick up Ngakia and Lanzini although he may be another sicknote which makes him less appealing if they do go down.

  24. Where does Vydra fit in a 433 4231?

Where does Gray fit ? He's had plenty of time on the pitch.

  26. He doesn't

I'd swap Gray's minutes on the pitch for Vydra in a heartbeat.

  28. I'd swap Gray for many things, including a pushbike, a paddling pool, a PS2 game, a set of metric spanners...

I think either Origi (spelling) from Liverpool as he is well down the pecking order there, or Ineacho (spelling) from Leicester as he is well down the pecking order there as well.

I'm enjoying the return of the Premier League much more than I thought I would. I imagine the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be like this. Dull matches played in empty stadiums with a drinks break every 10 minutes. Can't wait

Vydra would be better than Gray, but neither are the answer or what we should be aspiring to.
