Brighton got to play Norwich so that is 3 points as well I suspect.

Annoying as the rest of their games are tough.

Er, what? Brighton got a good win and sit 5 points off relegation, meaning they are far closer to safety than all the other teams I mentioned.

What bit of that means I'm being a "wet blanket"?

If we win against Burnley and Brighton lose midweek then we would make a net gain of one point. It's hardly insurmountable.

    Good win for Wolves.

    West Ham got Spurs next.

Hopefully Zaha can do us a favour.

    Palace like a 1-0.

Palace look like they've been training, Bournemouth look like they have not.

Never thought I'd cheer goals by Wolves & Palace! Just a shame Arsenal were so poor they let Brighton win.

Palace enjoying themselves on national TV!

    Very attacking display.

    Probably game over really.

And if we lose vs Burnley and they win ? 4 points and a better GD is a big gap today.

The point is that although they got a result today they are not out of the woods yet but I agree it's a massive result for them as they would be the only team in the bottom 6 to win. I expect all of the other teams around us, as well as us, getting some wins between now and the end.

Well might have been different had that red been given.

Getting the ball saved him and probably no crowd giving the ref stick!

Lovely to see Palace's silky skills. Such a shame that those Bournemouth thugs kept dumping our boy Wilf on the ground, though.

Not a bad day. We got a hard fought point, Spam and Muff's capitulation continues and we stay 16th. Not getting ahead of myself, but we have just as much chance of going down or surviving as anyone.

As today as singular, decent point.

I have to correct you on that. We had 209,530 shots at goal, but only two on target.

Talking of Arsenal, Palace have now gone above them. Only 9 wins all season!!. Only 1 point above Burnley who have a game in hand.

Everton are another massive flop. They only have 37 points, with a match against Liverpool as their game in hand. So pleased it's so backfiring for them after their ruthless, "don't give a sh1t about anyone else" approach from their owner.

Neal Maupay after the Arsenal match coming out with some Deeney-esque big-mouthed guff directed at Arsenal

"Some of the Arsenal players need to learn a bit of humility. They were talking a lot in the first half, and in the second half they got what they deserved."

Here's hoping he experiences a similar level of schadenfreude to Troy experienced come the end of this season.

(I'm aware the more likely scenario is that Brighton survive, while Troy gets himself sent off again in his attempt to "help" the team get the draw on the final day that would have kept us up)

TBF I just read that and watched his post-match interview with great interest: he mentioned "...one player..." who kept saying things to him "...in French..." throughout the match. He didn't want to say any more as he didn't want to raise the temperature.

Turned out being a decent day yesterday (minus the Brighton result).

Bournemouth & West Ham looked really poor, neither looked like scoring. Here's hoping Chelsea can crush Villa today.

Villa should have also lost. The relegation threatened sides looked woeful. I am sure Palace had they really wanted to added to the score against Bournemouth. They have a tough run in as do West Ham. However we cannot rely on them fouling up. We just have to make sure we win all we can and not make silly costly errors.

Of the eight games left the two most difficult are Chelsea and Manchester City. The rest are eminently winnable. Given the off pitch turmoil at Arsenal and sickness behind the scenes we should go to them with confidence. By the same token when we play Norwich we should not take them lightly either although they look doomed.

I would be slightly wary of making predictions on the relegation candidates after just one game back in strange circumstances. None, with the possible exception of Norwich, are in the last chance saloon yet and they still have time to improve their form as things get more desperate.
Having said that (and trying not to be biased) I do believe we have a better squad than the others and will collect the points required to survive, barring a slew of injuries.

Injuries do worry me as the quality of our squad does not go very deep and that could cost us dearly.

In Championship Leeds are fielding 4 man-buns in their team today. Not sure I've seen that before.

That's bad news. Villa have taken the lead against Chelsea, and that illegal point they got against Sheff Utd, has taken them above us.

    Or Villa do !

Maybe they should bring Abraham on - ex player and all that.

Read Chelsea haven't won outside London since they beat us !!
