I've put a tenner on the draw. Just hope England can bat through tomorrow and the rain comes in.

Lets face it if Australia wanted to they could have gone through to the end of the day and posted 650.

Losing Bresnan at the end was a disaster ( the bloke can't bat and contributes a minimum amount of wickets ). We need 3 people to make a ton or there or there abouts to put any pressure on Australia.

If Cook and Trott get in they could easily bat half a day. We showed in the last test that we can bat teams out of a game if we need to and thats exactly what we need to do again. Getting through tomorrow is vital, batting through to tea on day 4 and having a lead of 80 or 90 and we will regret not having been ambitious and having played Monty and Swann.

This one isn't over yet - I think we will need a run chase of less than 150 on the final day and win by a handful of wickets

We need to just stay in bat for as long as possible. I think the win is out of the question for England.

Match abandoned for the draw with England 37-3. England retain The Ashes. The rain saved us really, Now let's go on and win the series outright.

    Moog wins some £££ too.

Oh dear, bit of a rumpus brewing over suggestions that Pieterson used silicon tape to hide nicks on his bat, to fool hotspot!

Seems a bit daft to me.

Nope. I clicked the wrong button and bet on an Aussie win by mistake. I am so **** at gambling.

    Vaseline and now silicon tape.

They are working on a new more sensitive snickometer but I'd rather they dispensed with snicko for this series.

Ireland have virtually assured qualification for the World Cup as well. Time for the ICC to get them more integrated into the world arena. Far too good for the associates.

Classic Australian press , diverting news away from the fact they ve lost the Ashes.

The Herald Sun ( their equivalant of The Sun ) usually fails to report at all when Australian lose at cricket ( or any sport).

Its bizarre to pick up a paper and there is no report on the days game ( cricket is Australias national sport) apart from a small column ten pages in from the back.

The English press on the other hand seems to rejoice in our failure more than victory. Im not sure which is worse !

Will cricket remain Australia's national sport though ? Association football is developing rapidly. Who knows in time it may overtake the much tainted Rugby League competition over there along with Aussie Rules.

The ICC needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Cricket unlike rugby looks like it will either die out or remain a sport confined to the former colonies.

I think cricket will always be clsoe to Aussie hearts. It helps that its a summer sport and so doesnt have to compete with all the other sports that are on the up like Soccer (as they call it).

Test cricket is certainly in danger.

England is pretty much the only country that sells out most/all of its home test matches. When you see West Indies play Sri Lanka its depressing how few people are watching.

Its a shame because Test cricket is such a joy to watch once you know about the game and have decided to write off a whole day to enjoy it.

They have. Or rather snicko is just a tool for the pundits. It's not being used by the third umpire to decide anything.

DRS as a hole doesn't work, thats why India won't use it

The only time it should be used is at the request of a umpire as confirmation to any question they have

The issues with DRS which have been highlighted by this series are that the usefulness of the system is directly proportional to the standard of 3rd umpire and that the technology isn't foolproof yet.
