I imagine our behind the scenes is just like the transfer window episode in season 2 of 'Sunderland Til I Die' under the Methven and Donald chuckle brothers (except instead of being told directly not to spend silly money on Will Grigg because he's not worth it by our own staff before upping the bid even further and buying him at the 11th hour out of total desperation for £3m, it's any player Mogi is wafting under our nose with no justification for £5m, of course).

We all know what’s happening. He plays against Aberdeen and does his hamstring. Gives Gino the excuse to use of, well we tried, it was all but done but then he got injured. We couldn’t do anything over the remaining 80 hours of the transfer window.

Gino always loves to leave a deficit somewhere. It can never be a complete window, always got to be gap somewhere. Looks like it’s going to be in the CB area again. If we do manage to sign a CB it will be the CM area.

Either way, Slav wants 3 more signings, 4 if you believe AL. Honestly think we end up with one more, and 2 out of the 3 positions Slav wanted will not be bought in.

This is why I don't understand why we've let WTE go. It seems clear that the Porteous deal is far from done. Looks like we might have shot ourselves in the foot once again and will leave ourselves short on CB cover. Pollock is just not a viable option (IMO).

 

agreed @hornetboy1 - Unfortunately Pollock is not of the required standard and is far too slow at this level..... would be ok in Scotland's top flight though

 

Went to a Hibs game earlier this season and by far their most impressive player was Rocky Bushiri at the centre of the back three. Just checked back now and saw that Porteous was also playing that day but don't remember him at all.

Overall, the standard was appalling, definitely below Championship level.

To be fair Bushiri has had plenty of bad games for Hibs to. He was taken off on a stretcher in the recent Edinburgh derby, so Hibs may be screwed at centre back if Porteous leaves.

 

Sell him back to them for £16m ?

 

They are/were genuinely interested in Pollock - but he chose Exeter before we put a freeze on that deal. Wouldn’t shock me if we were trying to convince him to go there to free up Porteous.

But you can see why Pollock would be reticent in a way.

 

I also suspect Pollock is the hold up, makes no sense why the Exeter deal isn't confirmed yet. We are probably saying Pollock can be the answer as your cover.
