Just imagine... We beat Leicester, Everton, Chelsea and Man City...52 points. OMG was I dreaming that happened.

I think there's a good chance we'll get something against Leicester and Everton. Maybe even Man City if they have nothing to play for.

I think our big issue this year is we have lost our creative players for most of the season e.g Pereya & Zarate. Whilst every team gets injuries we have had more than most. We would have looked a better team with those players and a few more points as well.

Not just the creative aspect we've missed, those two players along with Doucoure and Cleverley are the only players who are capable of keeping the ball and not giving it away. In half an hour against West Ham Zarate showed that he can receive the ball, turn his man and get us 30 yards up the pitch. I know Jurado gets a beating on here but nobody can say that we didn't keep the ball better when he was on the pitch.

Hard to disagree but poor old Jurado didn't have his finest moment at the weekend!

  9. Problem may actually be our spineless fans.

Not quite true, they played in more than half our games so far. Yes a miss but not “most of the season”

This is the crunch weekend. Leicester is a great awayday location. Watch Palace slip to defeat, then see if we can get something from the match and listen in to Swansea v Everton on the way home. This weekend realstically could see West Ham, Crystal Palace and Swansea lose. What odds on Sunderland relaxing (after confirmed relegation) to an away win at Hull? Even WBA could break their poor run with a win at Burnley. So all the teams 14th to 18th could lose and we would be safe and virtually guaranteed a top 16 finish. Whatever our result if Everton get a win or draw its done. If BMuff - Stoke draw and Southampton lose at Liverpool and we grab an unexpected win - by Sunday night we could be 9th. However if all the teams below us win and we lose at Leicester, we will be down to 16th, five points above the drop zone. We might be relying on Spurs to beat Hull on the last day. Its a yo - yo weekend for sure!

    34 matches x 90 minutes = 3060 minutes
    Preyera played 1040 minutes
    Zarate played 215 minutes

Therefore well under half, and will be around 36% of all matches by the end of the season.

By the end of the season you could say "most" but right now I would not call just under half the games (played in 16 of 34) most. But yes they have been missed and could of made a differecne.

Why? we aren't the loudest but none of the dross served up on the pitch is down to the fans spineless or not. You cant seriously think it is. I like most don't expect anything from my team other than 100% effort. The rest is down to ability, tactics and a bit of luck.

    Anyway back to the thread...

A point on Saturday would put all this worry to bed. Whilst its possible its a worry however small the chance.

  15. It's not the hoping for 100 percent effort, or for the more entitled amongst us, expecting it,, it's how you react to not getting it when it inevitably doesn't happen.

Awe mummy, make the nasty man go away

Come on you 'Orns, WE can do better than this

I'll say this about our fans. Most of our fans are reactionary and not proactive. When we go behind, the players don't believe we'll get back into it and their fall-back (Walter) probably doesn't believe we'll get back into it. Both of their fall-back (us, the fans and supporters) don't believe we'll get back into it either. We've been like this for some time and we were only proactive and had belief in our promotion season. I compare our win at home to Hudders in 14/15 vs our draw against West Ham or our loss again Southampton. The crowd instantly goes quiet nowadays. To our credit, we stir up quite a storm and make noise when we feel there's been some injustice like a sending off. However you look at teams like Sunderland where I'd say a huge factor for them scraping another consecutive season in the Prem was their support. This year it's just gone completely and no one at their club believes. I mean they couldn't even use young Bradley's fighter story to stir them up.

Sakho out for the season, Palace could really struggle.

At the moment we are relying on other results to be mathematically certain of staying up, this is not good enough IMO. We should be good enough to pick up a point from somewhere, and on paper tonight is probably our best chance of doing so.

If we do not pick up another point this season, then whether we stay up or not I do not think that WM should keep his job! However, if we do earn at least that extra point, hence taking our final fate in our own hands, then perhaps, but reluctantly on my part WM should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Therefore it should be no more points and he's out, do you lot agree?

Nope I think we're too late to give him the chop now.
But he's on borrowed time if we don't hit the ground running next season.

I cant see us getting another point but I also can't see Hull getting 2 wins & 13 goals so we're safely in 17th.

It's not good enough when you consider the football on display has been the dullest for a decade but I just can;t see what we would gain from a managerial replacement now.

I know it is unlikely the 13 goal GD will swing against us, but Hull don't have to score 13 goals, they would only need +4 goals over their last 2 games, if we were to end up with -9 goals over our last 3 games, which is definitely not beyond the realms of possibility, especially as we have 3 very tough opponents yet to play!

Yes unlikely but definitely possible. In fact could be more than -9 meaning a couple of one goal victories for hull might be enough. Really would be handy to get that point tonight as Everton have nothing to play for.

What's the betting we park the bus in all 3 games and get away with 0-2,0-2 and 0-1 defeats?

    Very good points there.

    We're going down aren't we.

Unlikely but not impossible. Would be entirely possible if Hull had beaten Sunderland as expected. Still as others pointed out weeks ago we were safe ages ago and will probably end up on about 47 points.

Going by Jose's comments last night Palace will be playing Man U kids on the final day so if they need a result feel they might get it.

Gino Pozzo has a lot of big decisions to make this summer. Clearly there are massive problems at the club, no one can deny it.

This is probably the toughest time he's had since buying the club. We were always going forward and progressing, but it's taken a dramatic U-turn this season.

I can't see how Mazzarri can stay, but if he does, then there will have to be a massive clear-out of players.

Well we did finish 14th (ish) in the Championship for the 2nd Pozzo season which was a backwards step as well but yes it does seem like we will need a number of changes to compete next season or at least be confident of doing so.
