First Cassidy and now this...…...clearly turning out to be a bad news days.

 

He did well for Udinese when given a run of games and it will only strengthen our striking options. I'd much rather see Okaka up front then Success. Deulofeu is pretty much nailed on to start up from so Gray, Deeney & Okaka can fight it out for the remaining spot. I have a feeling that Deulofeu will get 20 goals this season. His 12 last year (yes I know 7 came against relegated teams) was a really good return considering it was his first year as a striker. I actually like Okaka, he is a real nuisance and has really close control for such a big bloke, just wish he stayed fit.

 

Next up we’ll find out Big Marvin Zeegelaar is back and ready to play.

I respectfully disagree.

He can’t stay fit. And when he is, he still only lasts 45 mins. Has fallen out with successive managers from what I know so not sure his attitude is spot on.

He is a poor striker who hasn’t been liked enough by any of our managers to get a regular starting spot, even when he has only Deeney and Gray as obstacles to that. Not good enough.

 

Would be like signing a new player.

 

The trouble is, given that this story is on the official website, it kind of suggests that he will be part of the squad this season.

 

There was a video and interview with Wilmot put up last week. He’s already left.

He might stay. But the odds are stacked against him getting what he says he wants in the interview. I would also say, putting an interview up on official channels and then promoting it on social media is perhaps another way of keeping a player who is available for transfer in the public eye. It makes his comments official rather than something reported by HITC or SportsWitness.

eg. Someone from Galatasaray see’s the interview, looks at his comments and thinks it’s worth showing an interest due to the factors involved in him getting what he wants at Watford.

Perhaps just being wrapped in cotton wool until the first game - they're both guaranteed starters whose roles in the team are already well known, and they're also generally in good shape and maybe already match fit, so there may be no point in risking them.

Putting him in the shop window against a massive club like QPR is very smart. If we manage a giant killing today and he has a good game, could easily be a world record fee for a defender. The Pozzo’s have done it again.
