Here's one for your diary.
Watford will be playing QPR at Loftus Road on 27th July ko 3pm.
Just need a game against someone like Stevenage/Woking/Crawley and a mid-table La Liga team to complete the set of boring and uninspiring friendlies now.
So far I’ve seen the following listed on various sites or Twitter accounts
Saturday 13th July - Hampton & Richmond Borough v Watford XI
Wednesday 24th July - St Albans City v Watford XI
Saturday 27th July - QPR v Watford
Tuesday 30th July - Wingate & Finchley v Watford U23
Hope someone informs these little clubs that it won’t be a first 11, so don’t pay for extra burger vans and scaffold stands like last summer.
I can see QPR getting carried away and you know it will end in tears.
Wouldn’t want QPR thinking we’ll take them seriously.
Big time matches for a big time team. Who needs Far Eastern tours to raise our profile when we can do exactly the same against Hampton and Whatever Borough Town.
I'm keeping an eye out for the marquee home friendly against a no doubt mediocre foreign opponent. Going to take daughter 1 to her first game so hoping it's someone vaguely interesting. Been a while since I bothered with the summer friendlies.
Why don't we play Borehamwood any more? That was always extremely convenient for me!
Out of interest, what would be an interesting and inspiring friendly for you?
One of the top 4 teams in Spain, Italy or Germany would be fantastic. Or a Lyon/PSG/Marseille from France. Just something to get excited about rather than the usual bog standard stuff.
Hugely important preseason. We need to get the players in early and get them to Javi's fitness levels. We managed to stick 12 points on the board by being ready last season - a poor start and we will really struggle I think.
Don't clubs like this expect a fee to play friendlies against nobodies like us nowadays?
What happened to the GT cup ??
Currently shared between us and Sampdoria.
Wasn't it supposed to be an annual thing ? How the hell does anyone play for it if it's shared - do we have to play Samp again ??!!?? No penalties ?
Someone in Eastern Europe with cheap beer would be ideal!
And we could pretend that it's actually a Europa League qualifier to take the pain away of not finishing 7th.
I think we should play Kings Landing
Currently gathering dust in Genoa. Us and Sampdoria get it for 6 months each but we promised them we would take it this summer after not collecting it for 5 months....but apparently we have cancelled plans for our trophy cabinet after Saturday.
Knots Landing might be better ?
One thing is for sure - cannot be any hotter than it was for that Samp game!
No incentive for people to go unlike last year when the GT statue was unveiled.
Unless we have a load of new signings and need to work out who is who...
Which Non-league team will we upset this year by pulling out or sending the kids to?
We need to play the home leg of the Sochaux game
Bornmuff playing Lazio. We've got a nail biter against The Dog and Duck.
Ideally to Pep’s fitness levels.
If, post Cup Final, it is true that Gino is pivoting us away from football, Windies at Radlett could be on the cards.
I used to love the close season cricket matches. I once refused to buy a programme from Nigel Callaghan at Kings Langley I think.
I'm afraid there pitch is unfit to play on just now, so it would have to be at The Vic
Farsley or Donegal?
Let's go back to Ibiza please. Loved that tournament.
A little trip to France/Belgium/Holland would be ideal, with a bit of notice as well. More likely we'll end up with a training camp in Austria again.
Back to the West Country please 1992/3 style
Torquay (at Kingsteinton)
Family holiday and football
Our last major trophy.
I got a few trophys that weekend...
Ideal. I’m in Devon for two weeks from the 3rd august
