Dunno how this all works, i'm no expert.

 

Did he lie? He is saying that he had a recent realisation. Perfectly possible he was bisexual when getting married. To assume he lied is to present a very fixed view of sexuality and we don’t have the science to back that up.

If you go off your wife for any other reason were you lying before, when you said for evah and evah?

 

I was out and about shopping with a girl, my first girlfriend when we bumped into my dear old nan. I introduced her as my girlfriend and my nan grasped her hand between hers and said ‘It’s so nice to meet you love, I must tell my sister she’ll be so relieved’

Turns out my sweet old nana had been telling anyone and everyone that I was gay from the age of about 6. The reasons for her being so convinced were my general politeness and friendly demeanour.

I don't think that the story is that someone is gay, but more because on of our most famous TV personalities has been married for 27 years, has two grown up kids, and is gay. It came as a big surprise to me, and although Relegation Certs seems to have had his "gaydar" alerted, it had passed me by completely in that it had never occured to me.

But, it would be great if it wasn't any sort of news at all.

 

Now this fresh gossip is out there I actually engaged my wife about it over lunch today (no idea why). Anyway, to my surprise, she made the point that rumours have recently been going around that good old Phillip is not well liked by quite a few people in the industry and that he is very 'difficult to work with'. Ergo, this announcement has deflected from all that and focused a sympathy/sob story onto him, thus actually improving his reputation in a way. I thought I was the old cynic in the family, shows what I know!

Anyway, it's Gordon the Gopher I feel sorry for here. Goodness knows what Schofield did to him.

 

In fairness the choices were 'gay' or 'soviet spy'.

 

The suddenness and public nature of the story makes me think that somebody was threatening to out him, and he wanted to get ahead of the story.

There were rumours that his relationship with Holly Willoughby had gone sour. Maybe she knew.

 

Probably been seeing some bloke and the papers had picked up on it and were going to run with it at the weekend.
