"Most of our games have had something to watch and enjoy" is quite simply complete bullsh*t. Presumably you didn't watch tonight, then? Or Bristol City? Barnsley?

Are you aware we've scored three goals away from home this entire season?

We were the better team, just. Chalobah is awful and seems to think he is a lot better than he actually is for some reason and was very lucky not to see red. I thought Deeeney did ok but tired near the end, JP looked lively in patches too. Its pretty obvious Sarr doesnt want to be with us going by his performances and I think the nearer we get to the transfer window the less effort he will put in as he doesnt want to get injured.

Any team that can put a run together in this division can win it I think, no idea which club that will be though as it seems there are around 7 or 8 in the mix at the moment.

I will bet on a 0-0 on our next away game so we actually get to see a goal scored.

Well is that down to his tactics then?

Sure the players don't want to play defensive football.

Another carbon-copy of all the previous 7 away matches. I just don't understand why we are so insipid and timid away from home. It's extraordinary that we're playing so within ourselves in absolute fear.

Forest had no threat, as ZERO shots on target proved, so we only needed to score a goal to win....but again, that's not going to happen unless we have some shots ourselves. Only one on target and I think that was an exaggeration.

These games are a toss of a coin. If we make a mistake, or the opposition get some luck and we concede, then the game is a lost cause as was the case at Reading and Barnsley.

We've only won once away since January, and that was because of an extraordinary strike from Pedro to win us that match at Derby, or else that would have been another 0-0 draw to add to the collection.

It's just not good enough, that we are playing so restricted and so fearful in the away games. Are the players intimidated by the odd steward at the game?

I think Ivic was poor not to spot a potential red card. The way Chalobah was diving in, he was a red card in waiting. He should have subbed him after he got away with his second bad challenge. No excuses and he got lucky he got away with that.

These performances are by design. There's such a difference between the freedom and the restriction of home and away games. I think Ivic is far too cautious. We are by far superior to any side in this league, and while you've got to respect all opponents, you've got to impose yourself, not be scared stiff of your own shadow.

I like Ivic, but he's got to sort out the away day mentality. There's not even anyone at the bloody stadiums. It's all psychological and it's just bonkers that he cannot grasp home and away are fundamentally the same thing this season!!

Maybe it's because I'm not used to watching us on the telly, but we are beyond awful to watch. It's just excruciating.

The only worse football I can ever remember watching is the second half of QSF first season.

Our momentum disappeared as quickly as it started. So disappointing as almost the same team played our first decent game of the season last time out. Why didn't Vlad bring on any subs?

3 out of 15 hardly invalidates my point.
Yes we are struggling away from home but are still picking up points so your negative is equal to my positive?
This season perhaps more than any other must result in promotion.
    >Bullsh*t PR. It's completely clear and obvious that he sets us up entirely not to lose away from home.
Nearly all managers set up differently away from home and any that set up to lose are idiots.
We are a work in progress and I'll take a 4-1 win followed by a 0-0 draw because if we consistently do that we get promoted.

But again, you keep trying to argue against a point that I'm not making. I've said I have no issue with the league position, I've said I have no problem with current points total, but I've also said that what I do have a problem with is not being able to give much of a crap about either of those things because we are so utterly terrible to watch so consistently.

And no, the three examples I gave don't completely validate what I'm saying, but they clearly aren't the only examples of us being terrible and/or boring as f**k and weren't supposed to be - which I'm sure you're actually well aware of anyway. Also see Wycombe, QPR, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

And that's ignoring games we've won in which we also average at best and scraped victory, such as Derby.

I don’t really get it. Our home results have shown what’s possible and there is literally no difference playing away at the moment.

Im sure a lot of us played Saturday/Sunday league, the standard of pitches was awful and varied massively, it was never enough to make the better team worse and visa versa.

How are we going to manage with away fans back in the stadium??

We have won 7 games, basically half of the ones we've played,so I'm very happy watching that.
I can understand your frustration but keeping things in perspective is important to maximise your enjoyment.
We were a shi* show over the summer and we had no idea what to expect.Just imagine having to manage that?
A very young team and lots of injuries are all recipes for some inconsistency so Ivic having us in a good position after 15 games is a decent job.
Perhaps too many have vastly overrated this squad and expect too much.

I think, if I was watching two teams I wasn't involved with playing like that, I would just complain of boredom and switch off. But, because it's Watford, the adjective is 'frustrating'. I just feel they are capable of so much more and yet seem to purposely avoid doing it. I spent the second half shouting at the screen because of the on-field decisions to not play the simple and fast ball.
As with the Bristol game, it was entirely conceivable that Forest could have won that game. We are not all that water-tight.
Much of the poor decision-making is committed by the younger, less experienced players I suppose.
But I do feel the coach has to answer for this as well. He should take on board that one away win is worth three away draws.
But, yes, we are being given boring, negative anti-football.
However, having said all that, we move up to third place! Results in this league are all over the place.

We could carry on passing sideways here and one of us might take Nate's position on Saturday!
We are a work in progress and there are justifiable reasons for Ivic to be more defensive away.He has admitted he needs to rotate more but if he does are the alternative players good enough? If we had a full strength squad and were regularly playing like tonight then I would be with you but we don't.I think your expectations are unrealistic because we have a weakened squad,no true goal scorer, lots of youngsters and players and coaching staff new to this country/league.That's without the same crap that all of us are currently dealing with.
I'd love to be wowed every week but am willing to accept less after taking into account all the above.

How long does the "work in progress" excuse fly then? We're a third of the way through the season. Four of our back 5 (including Foster) have spent the last few years playing in the Premier League together and tonight we had Deeney and Sarr playing, even the "youngsters" are players that you'd expect other clubs would love to have and that's 6 players with Premier League/top level pedigree, so let's not act like we're desperately weakened, yet we've scraped our way to yet another dour 0-0 draw with 21st in the league Nottingham Forest who had lost three of their last four before tonight, the other being a draw.

Who is it we're actually going to turn up against away, and when? Wasn't Wycombe earlier in the season, wasn't Forest tonight a third of the way through the season. Is it finally going to click when we hit the 40 game mark? Ivic isn't getting enough out of them. Setting us up not to lose in every single away game, a third of the way through the season and even against weaker sides, is pathetic.

The body language of Garner, Chalobah and Sarr tells you how the team approach these away games against lower table sides. Lacklustre and disinterest.

The slight issue with this however is all the caveats you’ve given, are likely to remain all season. There’s a lot of games condensed into a smaller period so it’s very unlikely we will ever have a full squad to choose from...there’s always going to be injuries. We have no money so won’t be a buying a true goal-scorer in January, we will still have youngsters and the coaching team will still be green. So there is nothing on the horizon that you can use as a yardstick and say ‘that’s when the performances will improve’.

These are the factors we are working in and besides the odd few thousand fans being introduced at certain games, the factors aren’t going to change much. Ivic has to get more adventurous away from home.

Like I said after Saturday, the good performances need to outweigh the turgid ones. When we get that ratio right, everyone will be forgiving of the odd turgid game in 4 or 5. And that’s how you get promoted over a whole season. At the moment the ratio is 50-50 and we’ve got a slightly false amount of points by virtue of a winning a couple of sloppy performances at home and the fact the league is of a poor standard so far.

If one team puts a run together over the next month, I genuinely think they could race away from the rest and make it just one promotion spot up for grabs.

I’m not overly concerned as I think we have it in us to improve away from home. The players aren’t quite as good as I thought they’d be at this level but they all have better within them (especially Sarr who has been a big disappointment so far when judged against expectations).

The biggest sticking point of our season at the moment is Ivic won’t take the handbrake off. And we can provide the excuses as you have - but they aren’t going away so he has to learn to work around them. Simple as that.

Genuinely believe it’s a directive from the top. Slow, practical, football designed to frustrate the home team and secure the point. If the home team press us for all 3 points, the hope is that we can contain that and it opens up gaps for Sarr and Joao Pedro and maybe get our own chance to steal 3 points. But getting one point is key.

Problem is we creak when teams pressure us away and we aren’t good enough at moving the ball through the thirds of the pitch with pace. Or teams like Forest see a point against us as a decent result so sit back and take it - and that’s when you get snooze-fests like tonight.

Our worst player tonight was Sarr, closely followed by Chalobah, as for the rest they were not a lot better, but better they were. As for our manager that some of you are slating yet again, unfairly IMO, the only thing I think he did wrong tonight was take keep Chalobah on the pitch take Quina off instead of Sarr.

Some of you are saying that Vlad is the cause of our frustrating away performances, but I do not agree. I believe he is as frustrated with with the players away performances as we are, because he has regularly stated he wants to win every game home and away. Therefore why do you guys think he is instructing the team to play so negatively away from the Vic, because that does not make sense?

As others have said he is still working with an under-strength squad, no sooner does he get a player or two back than he immediately loses two or three others.

We have, Cleverly, Semma, Capoue, Hughes, Gray and now probably Cathcart out too. Not forgetting Masina and Dele Bashu and of course Murray, that is nine players, or have I forgotten any one? That is over a third of our first team squad out, so yet again he is having to field a bare bones squad as Vlad has had to do for most of this season so far, yet still we are ONE point off top spot in the table!!!

So why don't you usual subjects just lay off the man, I am as frustrated with some of our performances as you guys are, but I actually think that Vlad is doing a ******* good job with what he has to work with week in week out, and if he ever gets anywhere near a full strength squad to work with I reckon we will walk away with this league with Vlad at the helm!!!

Looking at the top half of the league table its hard to draw many conclusions given how bunched up the teams are. Having the joint lowest number of defeats and only conceding 11 goals bodes well for us as promotion winning teams tend to be hard to beat and hard to score against. My overall feeling this season is that the longer we can stay around the top of the table the better chance we have. We've seen the club look like early favorites then collapse every other time we've been relegated from the prem so I view this as the best post relegation season we've had so far due to our league position, squad depth and the fact we still have room for improvement.
